Hi Noemi, the little red hairy fruit that you captioned “I wouldn’t want to swallow” is a Rambutan. You peel the shell Easily comes off, and the fruit inside is soft, and tastes like lychee fruit. Your boys will love it. The big giant one that you thought looked like an old pumpkin, with the sharp pointed shell, is a Durian. It’s known as the king of fruit. It is very interesting because it really stinks. There’s no way to describe the smell, kind of like sulfur BUT when you cut it open, and it is very ripe it tastes like creamy custard. It is one of the best fruits you can eat. Super high in Iron, potassium and Vitamin C! There are Durian festivals in SE Asia, but because it’s stinky there are even laws against bringing them on buses! Lol You have to make sure you eat it very ripe otherwise it will just be bitter and stinky. But when it’s ripe it’s like eating natural pudding, SO yummy!!
Creamy custard is my friend and if it has that much a nutrition what you just described oh yes we gonna try it! Thank you for all this fantastic info I should make a vlog where we try it😃Thank you again Jay!
Scandish Home I have to say, I have thought the same thing. I won’t buy another cookbook if you’ll just send me all the recipes you use in heavy rotation. 🙏🏻😋🥰
Hey, Noemi. You and your family are healthy. I like to eat healthy, but sometimes my routine breaks down. I like the video. You're motivating me. Thank you so much. Bye.🙋🌹💐💚🌿
Namaste Noemi. Very colourful video . Happy that you family has organic thanking engrained in them. The one you said as pumpkin in the Asian store is jack fruit. You have to remove the white part and can eat the yellow bulbs removing the seed . We make Curry out of the seed and it's yummy. Loads of love my dear to you. Charu
Another great video. thanks Naomi. Will be trying the kale chips tomorrow. Will be buying some glass jars also for my carrots and lettuce. You are very inspirational.
Very good video, noemi! I like your vlogging style very much! It’s so nice to see the time you take for a healthy, nonstressful life. That motivates me a lot!
Noemi, you always come up with something unique and interesting. I love your videos. Seriously, you should write a book on your healthy living style with recepies included. Awesome.
Asian food stores are so fun. Tons of cool stuff. That big great pockie thing is jackfruit. I've never tried it fresh only canned but I love it. Your kale chips look sooo good! I'll have to make some that way.
I have grocery envy. Grocery stores where I presently dwell leave much to be desired.🙄☹ Gobo is burdock root. Very good for you. Good in soups and stews etc. My favorite way of eating it is raw. Slice, sprinkle with fresh lime juice and salt. Good snack!😋
So much fun to shop together! Everything looks so fresh and healthy. I am going to try both the kale chips and smoothie recipes, but first I’ve got to get to the Asian Market for some dragon fruit! 💜
Wow...so much inspiration as usual. You are one of my favourite people to watch on RU-vid, I always feel inspired after watching your videos. Thank you so much for sharing! Xxo
Wow ! I love all the things you do &your style of living Lady . Please share more cooking and a day in the very organized life of yours . Thanks for sharing 👌👌
Loved seeing the different supermarkets you shop at and the products, I also liked seeing how you prepared and stored the food you bought. Great video 👍. xx
Hi! Jz found your blog n trying to see all the videos. Love your simplicity. For the dragon fruit, it is easier to cut into 2 or 4, then you can remove the skin easily by pulling it away from the flesh. No need to use the peeler. Also, green papaya is not ripe. You can cook soup with it or make pickles. Best is buy the ripe one which is orange in colour. It is a nice fruit. You can peel the skin n cut into small pieces or you can cut straight away length wise into 8-10 slices. Use a spoon to scoop the flesh n eat. You can plant the seeds to grow papaya tree. Quite easily grown. The red hairy small round fruit is rambutan. Just peel the skin n eat the fruit inside. Discard seed. Hope you try these Asian fruits. They are delicious.
If you put the carrots in water they'll stay fresh for longer. (just a tip) Love you're channel, only been looking at your videos for a couple of days now. Love it!
Really enjoyed watching this. The old Pumpkin looking fruit is a Jackfruit it's delicious, you can even eat the seed, once dry roast in a pan, it tastes nutty. X
Love your idea of "prepping" the veggies/ salad ingredients in advance ... I will give it a try, because I love my raw veggies, but not so much green leaf salad - your system might do the trick for me :-)))
I wish I was there.... I grew up in a Japan, some of the vegetables you showed are very common and it’s really good!!! Currently I live in Nigeria, and I miss all my vegetables!!!! Yum yum yum!!!!
What a fun video to watch. Love seeing what you buy. I have never seen the watermelon radish; must look for them. Aren't Asian markets fun? Such unusual items to see and try. I also prep veggies and some fruits; we find that we go for them more often. Smoothy looked amazing. Will have to try your coating for Kale chips.
Same here Jan we eat more veggies that way! Asian market are a treasure box for sure! Let me know how you like the kale chips, it get's so crunchy form the cashew 😃
The dragon fruit, mangoes, papaya, coconut and avocados come from México!! There are so much tropical fruit here!! I really love your channel!!! Greetings from México!!
WOW! That was very nice. I think I could learn to eat healthier like that. Interesting fruit I had never seen before. I need to watch it again to make my grocery list. Thank you.
Sone fruits are from ASIA.. U'll love the taste or rambutan (red hairy ball) Old pumpkin is Durian u'll love the sweet taste but not the smell✌️✌️ The squash ur saying is Upo here in the Philippines. Thats good for veggie soups. Try all of those u will love it.
Great video! Another way of cutting dragon fruit is to cut it in quarters then pull away the skin, it comes away very easily. Hairy red fruit is rambutan, inside is the fruit with a big seed in middle. We usually score round the fruit with a knife then pull away the red skin to eat the fruit inside.
I was looking at the prices on some items-we are in Texas. Avocado=your .99 us 2 for 1.00 (sometimes .99 so not so far off for distance) Oranges you 1.19 lb us 3 for 1.00 -depending on the time of year and the type of orange sometime can be 2.00 or 3.00 a lb you bought a flat bread, 6.99 us .99 big difference
Some of those veg I've never seen before. I've never been in an Asian supermarket. Will prepare my veg in future and put in jars on fridge. Smoothie looks very refreshing. Tks. Jx
Those are tropical fruits..the hairy one is rambutan...brown like bolls stick to a stam is cat eye...the big thorny ball like is durian also know as king of fruits in my country Malaysia...then the squash vegi is called water squash we cook it with lentels.
I see, you decided for healthy living. That's really good. When somebody deserves feelin" good, then you are, because you do everything to keep your health and also your beloved ones. I think, you couldn't do better. Super, Noemi! 👍👱
Thank you so much Isabelle. It's been a long journey and I'm constantly learning but once I experienced the power of the food and the importance of the self care there's no return from there. :D xxxx
As always love your videos... I’ve noticed that I you put the chopped carrots into the jars and cover them with water they last longer because they don’t dry out!!
Those fuzzy, spiney things are sooo delicious. You pull them open and eat the fleshy part inside. Oh so good. The green papaya is anti cancer, and the bitter melon is great for men's prostate health. I learned these things from my Vietnamese friends. Saw so many good things that I can't find where I live now in your video
That's amazing how healing food can be! I'm going to try those one by one. I got many comment where they saying it's yummy and now I know how to open them 😄
Here's a tip for folks wanting to try this style out but aren't sure: get/use a vacuum sealer on the jars after you fill them. It will extend the life of the food and help reduce waste.
We love those Siete tortillas! They are made here in Austin, TX where I'm from so our grocery store carries several of their products! Thank you for always sharing your recipes with us! I'm going to have to try the kale chips - looked so good!
Oh, the next time you're there get the pre cut jackfruit! Look for one with a deep yellow color to the pods. Jackfruit is the inspiration behind Juicy Fruit gum. It can also be used as a meat substitute. Tfs
Those longans are very delicious. The brown, small balls that you're going to use as decoration. And the red hairy fruits are called rambutan. It's originated from south east asia. Indonesia particularly. They also very delicious. Sweet. Almost loke longans but with a bit different texture. The word rambutan is from word rambut which means hair (hairy fruit), you should try them when you back to that asian grocery store. They are sooo good. Must try. And the spikey fruit as big as that melon is called durian. It's the king of fruit many people in South East Asia call them. They pungent. If you're not an adventurous foodie I don't recommend it. But for us, Indonesian people, they're also really delicious 😋
Hello from Portugal. I am a new subscriber and I love your videos. You inspire me to declutter my home, to keep it clean and organized. I love all your cooking videos because my youngest son, he is 5, has autism and I have been cooking especially for him gluten and dairy free but it is so hard sometimes to find good ideas and I have learned already so much with you. Thank you.
The green squash you bought is delicious in beef curry. Remove large seeds before cooking or else it can be bitter. The odd fruit you thought looked like an old pumpkin is breadnut (from the breadfruit family). In Guyana, where my husband is from, they call it katahar. I know some vegans that cook it and shred it to eat like BBQ.
OMG! I'm one of the newer subs, and after seeing Uwajimaya, I'm like, wait the minute! I go there once a year because I live in the East side of Portland and there are numerous Asian grocery markets nearby where I'm at--one of them being Fubonn--so if it's going to be a special occasion for me to drive across to the West side like that (okay, sometimes I visit my parents who live closer to that area as well) :D This is so cool! I only know you and one other youtuber living in Oregon :D Woot for having subbed to two local youtube celebs :D P.S. Thank you for the vlog! The one you saw, "Rambutan" the hairy red fruit, you gotta open it up and inside is such a sweet delish nom fruit. OMG. I need to go to Fubonn soon :)
Oh what a small world! Thank you for being here Tracy!😃💗 Yes this store is so amazing I could spend hours there! I have to check out this Fubonn store too. I find a few and they all kind of different from each other I really enjoy that! This is what I love about this comments I learned more about this fruits and veggies so now when I buy them I know a little more what to expect 😊Thank you for subscribing it's so great to have you here! 💜
Omg so much fruit i wish we had this selection here in Germany. Those spiky fruit was rambutan it taste similar to lychee and what you liked as decoration was longan taste like a cinnamon version of lychee😀
Hi Noemi! I am a new subscriber and love your vlog :) I am married with 2 boys the same ages as yours. We're always trying to simplify, eat healthier, etc. You are such an inspiration! I used to prefer to grocery shop alone but you have inspired me to invite my husband and boys along. I am wondering where you bought those wonderful brown tote/grocery bags? They look so strong. Are they insulated? I could really use something like that as the reusable grocery bags I have are quite flimsy. Thanks again for sharing with us!
So sorry Rebekka I didn't get a notification with your sweet note and I just bumped into it. It's great to have you here! 😊💗Sometimes I go alone but I think it's more fun together to do the grocery at least now that my boys are older . Those brown totes are super old I've got them at Target about 12 years ago on sale. They were like 1.50 and 2.50 each the tag in it said Tote Logic xx💕🌼
I never realized there were so many different types of vegetables and fruits available. What does dragonfruit typically taste like? Can you eat it a different way besides in a smoothie?
I'm pretty sure there are recipes for different use I personally like the taste in smoothie and the color is pretty amazing. I think paired with bananas and raspberries are bringing out more taste of it but when I tried it it was similar texture and taste as kiwi and it reminds me a little of the bubblegum flavor too 😄
Oh this is my favorite one cuz I l'd like to explore more about your country including the healthy produce. I really hope one day I can travel there.. I'm Asian (Thailand) but living in California, I already ate all the Asian fruits in this video ha ha.., it reminds me of my home but actually now I like all kinds of local fruit and vegetable here especially berries & Kales, and I'm a nut lover . I don't do grocery shopping at Asian market here maybe b/c I know it all already, there're so much fun shopping food here no matter what I'm vegetarian.. I love Trader's Joe, Sprouts, wholefoods etc .. Thank you for this vid and I'm happy to see you guys working together, so lovely especially two boys ...Ha
At 615 that fruit is called Longan. Better eaten than for decoration. ha ha. It is very sweet, green grape like in taste, but not. It is one of my favorite fruits. It has a huge pit in the center, like an olive (but not). Try it!!!! Its only in season maybe twice a year. In any event, another great video. Thank you for all that you do.
@@ScandishHome noooo, the out skin peels off, you have to peel the outer skin off. But it comes right off. Ask someone in the store if you can try it. It tastes similar to lychee and grape combined.
How long the lettuce & other items stay fresh in the bottle? I have never seen this before. I just catching up with your videos? The everyday cleaner you use in & around the house. Can give me the proportion, as well as the ingredient, please?
Perfect! 😄 Sometimes I see them at whole foods too but probably over there is like a seasonal item not to mention I think over here is gonna be cheaper! 🤗Oh and Whole food has the at the frozen section too. I have some at home too for smoothies! 🤗
Good video. Thought the asian store was cool. We do not have this kind of scale stores were I live. Btw, the green Papaya is edible and is supposed to be green and commonly used in the Thai cuisine (I was told this by the cook in our local Thai - who is fron Thailand). We had ordered Papaya Salad and were very astonished to see that we got something looking like cucumber, but tasting like a Papaya :).
Yes that store is a treat for sure! I wanna learn more about this vegetables thank you for the information Alex! I will give a try for the green papaya! 😃🌷
Hi Noemi! The small spiky ones (those that you wont dare swallo) are actually a fruit called rambutan. You pop them and a white round flesh with a pit in the middle will be your fruit. Enjoy 🙂
Absolutely amazing video, I love fruit and veggie shopping, I have a huge international grocery store here that I spend hours in lol. I just love finding and trying new things. Where did you find the glass jars with the white lids, I love those. Thanks for all your work, have a fantastic day 😀
Oh I hear you out I do the same! 😄 This is the jar I have amzn.to/2DBnHKa and this is the lid I have amzn.to/2G3rx0f you have a fantastic day too Janice! 🤗💜
Dear Noemi, what a wonderful video😀I have a request could you also specify the Degrees because we haven’t Fahrenheit here🙏 I also have to get used to preparing at the same way....🙂love your Videos!!
Hi Daniela I will!😊 if in some case I forget it, here's this site where you just put the number in it will convert it www.calculateme.com/temperature/fahrenheit-to-celsius/200
Hello! I love your videos! We have a MAx in our house too! In this haul, how long did this food last? I buy a ton of greens and go through them so quickly, but bananas and others seem to sit. Thank you!
I would say a fey days and we also buy some things from Costco like green mix bananas and frozen fruits for smoothies. We use many bananas in smoothies and cooking it in oatmeal and baking with it too we use it as a sweetener🌼🤗
Lovely video Noemi! I enjoyed so much. Maybe next time you go to Uwajimaya, pick up a pack of Natto beans to try. It's the best probiotic food I know of, but it's an acquired taste. Stir, stir the Natto, until long threads form, add mustard, maybe add honey, stir in vegetables like finely chopped green onion, onion, cucumber, etc, skip flavoring packets that come with package (they have msg), put over hot rice, wrap in roasted seaweed sheets (Costco sells organic ones, delicious!). The seaweed papers mask some unpleasant taste of fermented beans (Natto).
wooaa probiotic food, I love that! And as I'm reading your comment I'm drooling into the keyboard! I have seaweed sheets at home we are about to make somesushi 😃🤗🌷
I wish we had those kind of stores in our area. We do have dragon fruit I never tried,I did not know what to do with it until you showed us. Can it be eaten by itself? The watermelon radish I never heard of that is it sweet? Thank you so much for this vlog you showed a lot of things I never seen before. I love kale chips, but need to use your recipe as I never used the cashews ,garlic,or onion powder. Take care enjoy your evening ( Judy )
The kale chips is more crunchy that way try it 😃 Yes you can eat the dragon fruit like that but I think the other fruits banana and raspberry (even better then strawberry) bring out the taste and it colors them beautifully! It's a soft kiwi texture. The watermelon radish is sweet and little stingy for my thong but not more then the little red ones. It had a lot's of juice in it very crunchy! You have a great day Judy! 🤗🌷💜
🌿👌 wow like the shop u been natural and organic. Just hoping to have same here.😍 great shop noemi. Asian food such amazing. I wonder the long thing potato. That squash is so tasty we usually eat it here ph.that rambutan red hairy fruit similar to leeche. So nice to see this asian shop u have. Hope for more shop vlog.😊 just to fun to see you and u family together.
Scandish Home yeah just an amazing ideas it really encorage me soo. Just love everything ive waited all the coming videos it helps on my daily routine also as home wife just an absolutely amazing.so happy found your channel.😍😍😍👌🌿
That is so helpful to watch how you shop! I’m used to the “American way” of preparing dinner. You have meat, then a carbohydrate, and a vegetable on your plate. Do you just cook a main dish and not worry about having side dishes that you have to try to coordinate and plan for?
We have meat and what ever we like with it sometimes rice very few times potato but vegetable is always. I cook in the morning for dinner and we always have leftover from the previous day I have a very simple way to organize it will have more in the video on that topic Julie! 🍋🤗💜🍋💜
Thank you! That would be amazing to have more on your meals. Our family is developing so many different allergies as we get older. We need to be gluten and dairy free. It is really a challenge to begin. It makes my day to watch your example 👍🏾❤️😁
Julie Petri hello, I recommend also Downshiftology for a lot of ideas on gluten free recipes. Most of them are also dairy free. I don’t even have the intolerance, but I cooked some of her recipes and they are delicious.
@@juliepetri2484 Oh I feel with you Julie we had a same journey we healed a lot's of allergies of ours and I know how overwhelming can be to start with but you can do it it will get easier! 💜
Scandish Home you’re example is my motivation that we can get there! I watch a video of yours everyday to stay on track. Even if I’ve seen them already. Haaaaaa haaaa
@@ScandishHome Yes! They're great.. Uwijamaya is so fun to explore and Natural Grocers has a great selection of essential oils among many other things 😀
Noemi you are missing out!!! The strange looking fruits at the asian store were rambutan jackfruit durian and you also pointed out cassava!! 😁 Try them out sometimes! Also if i may, i would like to request morr videos on recipes. thanks!!xoxo
@@ScandishHome the dinasour egg looks like cassava to me! We have different type also back home🙈 in Indonesia we cook cassava in many ways as junk food. There is also what we call 'oncom', which is the leftover when tempe is made.😄 We shred cassava and mix it with rice flower to make a dough, fill it with oncom and fry it. ❤️❤️ I dont know why i am saying all this🤣maybe i miss indonesian stret food
Hehhe its not dinasour egg 😂 we call it gabi here in philippines...we have opo squash as well...its all asian fruit 😍...durian, jackfruit rambutan ( small red circle) ...buhawan fruit...😂...i like your video naomi ....hello from philippines 🇵🇭
