It is comforting to know that others (more accomplished than I ever imagine myself to be) get tired of deadline knitting or crafting, and they just give themselves grace to say 'enough'. Or 'not now.' I always feel like I'm letting someone down when I do so - but if it is gift knitting, all I'm doing is putting negative thoughts into the item, and how is that a gift? May you all have wonderful holidays. Stay sane for those you love.
We always say "all knitting is good knitting", but when it's making you unhappy then absolutely take a break. Gift knitting can be stressful and not bring the kind of joy we want (and often need) from our yarn! Happy holidays to you as well.
Gudrons hats are very nice .i loved them. Hapkercheif is pretty .i loved Emma's hood on her sweater hoodie.very fun! I loved all the beautiful yarns that you have shared.😊
So many lovely things in this shopcast!!! So nice to see your surprise visitors! I can't wait to make Gudrun's new designs. I only want to knit faster so I can make more things. :) Of course I will challenge myself with a Christmas CO. I think it will be something from Grand Shetland Adventure Knits... maybe the Island to Island Vest? Sign me up for your Paris Adventure Knitting Tour! hahahaha. Thanks again for all the efforts behind the scenes. I love to learn from TWT.
Great Shopcast with visitors! I love the Scottish Solstice colorway. Kelsey, thanks for all the great information. Emma, your hooded sweater looks great on you and it shows how pleased you are with it. Thanks Kim for helping us keep our bodies in balance.
So lovely to see Gudrun Johnston. I'm a fan too! Thank you so much for sharing her visit. I love all the hat/beanie color combinations. And I just love the Pengweeno! Thank you for another inspiring and fun shopcast.
Wishing everyone a season filled with warmth, joy, and endless moments of happiness! May your holidays be merry and bright, surrounded by the love of family and friends. Merry Christmas
Watching this video this morning (in the quiet 'morning after') was the perfect thing to do! Always more fun projects to add to the wanna do list! Season's Greetings everyone!
Gudrun just popping by for a chat, casually picking an epic WT colourway! How cool is that? Corinne you and Maggie both absolutely need a sequined dress and knitted pullover for a Paris photoshoot. 100% Thanks for all the fabulous guests, products, and endless inspiration as ALWAYS. -Leanne in Alberta, Canada
Great episode! Loved Emma’s big green cable sweater and pengweeno was adorable! Loved all the company as I finished some of my gift knitting! And a nice neck stretch to finish it all off - thanks for a lovely morning of knitting.
Thanks so much for sharing TWT friends, colleagues, and knitting joy with us. Had some bad family news today and watching this episode has been such a welcome respite from it all.
Fabulous shopcast today, and so great to see Jill join you in person! A huge special shout out to Haley for assistance with my order this morning! Happy Holidays to the entire team!
Ooooh Corrine, I just love your bookshelf. Who'd of thunk to use wallpaper....brilliant! I had to rewind after I watched the podcast just so I could oogle & sigh over it again & again...sooo pretty!!!! I could cuddle up on your chair under your Irish blanket and knit for days.
Intrigued by the Steven West sweater Kelsey showed called Penguono. The consruction was fascinating and the sweater looked amazing. Stash buster 2024 project
Emma. I’m so glad you talked about not having to do holiday gift knitting. Do it if you really want to, but knitting on deadline takes all the joy out of it for me. It is very empowering to allow yourself not to do it. Thanks. Enjoy the holidays
Thank you for another beautiful episode! I am very excited about the new paid membership and look forward to sharing some ideas. great podcast! ♥️🐑♥️🐑♥️
Yes please! 🙌To adding Jamieson’s DK for the Riggies Cardi. I so want to knit that Cardi in the same color as the one in Gudrun’s book! Another great episode!
Oh my, so much woolly goodness! Did several books fall into my cart while I watched? Yes. I was lucky and got one of the original color kits for the Solstice hat and I'm at exactly the same place as Maggie. Such a fun knit! And Spindrift is my desert island yarn.
What a lovely episode, as usual....I especially enjoyed the surprise visitors but I am always grateful for close ups of yarns paired together, thank you! You always bring interesting yarns...the Scottish festival one seems beautiful and that favorite of mine, Ullcentrum 2 ply is such a workhorse, thank you!
So fun to see Gudrun and Jill stopping through! I just took advantage of your year-end sale today and can't wait to get my greedy little paws on my new yarns from you. Thanks for an enjoyable shopcast as always.
Thank you ladies. Its always fun spending time with you both but especially at this hectic time of year and the inspiration you give is very much appreciated. Thank you.
There are a few of us at the shop that have the Halftone Pullover in our queues now! Here's the link to the Fair Isle book that Emma showed: thewoollythistle.com/collections/books-mags/products/fair-isle-knitting-by-carina-olsson
I recently discovered your shop and podcast, and what a happy discovery! Your podcasts are like a video magazine…such great inspiration and information. Wishing you great passage from 2023 to 2024!
Emma's podcast was really helpful makes sense to block then pick, so thank you Emma. I enjoy your podcast and the introduction to certain yarns 😊 now to go and check those yarns ❤
Always fun to watch your podcast and see what is new at your shop. Your new Scottish yarn looks lovely! Corrinne, I love the wallpapet behind your bookcase, and I'll go to Paris to knit with you anytime!!
Thank you for another wonderful episode, and importantly, thank you for the reminder to be gentle with ourselves and others as we go into the holiday season by not adding pressure to our knitting life. Wishing everyone at TWT a very happy holiday season.
Love the great work on the wallpaper at Corinne's bookshelf and also Maggie's very pretty sweater---definitely looks more toward a warm gray than the beige in the vest last time. Re: the paid membership, we all know Team Woolly Thistle specializes in inclusion and generosity of spirit overall, but it's also great for a business to try to new things and see how they go. I hope the membership sees much interest and success. Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Grinch-Rudolph-Frosty the Snowman movie marathon or whatever you love to celebrate. Happy holidays to Rachel out there in Fair Isle as well. Hope the sheep-reindeer hybrids show up again as they did last year :)
I enjoyed watching Emma tell us to relax and do things that bring us joy. The yoga lesson with Kim was excellent. Normally I don't do yoga but I think I will give it a try. Surely us knitters need to think about how we hold our heads.
Just when I told myself "No more hat patterns!!" Gudrun Johnson comes out with her Riggies Beanie. This went straight to my queue. Great episode, ladies.
Happy Holidays! Thanks for everyone's hard work and all the generous sharing. I'm looking forward to 2024, including the membership. Take care. Carol P. from Wisconsin
IT's cold and my favorite way to spend a Friday afternoon is with the two of you-listening to you chat and knitting on my current project.I want to make everything Gundren designs and I loved seeing her and her projects in person. I think the Hapkerchief is next with yarn from the /spring selection box!
That was fun! And well done Emma with a studio! So many wonderful books to choose from, so many yummy yarns! And Maggie, back to beige, yours is a “taupe”, a grey beige and sometimes a wee bit of lavender. Beige still doesn’t do it for me but it is a great color on other folks!
I loved the serendipity and spontaneity of this podcast. What fun to see people popping in and out. The Gudrun Johnson’s Winter Solstice hat pattern and her yarn colors caught my eye. I want the kit with the shades of pink and contrasting colors to make for myself. Think I’ll order it today.
What a nice shopcast. I loved your visitors especially Gudrun. I was lucky to have a Hap workshop from her. I learned so much. Happy Holidays to you all.
I’m enjoying this shop cast episode, taking time to relax during this busy season. I love learning about woolly yarns that I might not see at local yarn shops. I especially enjoy the books that you share! Finally, I enjoy the videos from Rachel at Barkland Croft on Fair Isle. Happy Holidays everyone!
Ohhh, how challenging Shopcast Fridays are! I try to be a calm adult and wait to view the new episodes on the weekend. But no, nope, not gonna happen. Maggie, I absolutely love my unconventional Christmas trees! Last year Edgar. This year Freya. Gudrun’s garter stitch hat may yet grace a young person, as I madly, joyously knit for Christmas / Holy Nights! Inspiring, fun - thank you!
I always look forward to these shop casts! I've been eyeing the Jaimeson & Smith and Rambler yarn. Would love to knit a few sweaters in them. And Maggie, what a gorgeous Hirne Cardigan!
Great shopcast! Thank you to all of the contributors. I am excited to look into the Fair Isle knit book Emma reviewed and love her message of taking care of ourselves during the season. So take care and happy holidays to all of TWT community!
Loved the episode. Sequins are currently in fashion and I hope Corrine will splurge on a sequin skirt and wear it with one of her sweaters in the next episode. ❤
