I can’t tell you how wonderful your videos are. Antiquing and thrift stores were my happy places. I’m a collector of Victorian Vaseline glass and of all things forklifts. Hunting down pieces I don’t have was my hearts joy. I now have a neurological disorder and I’m in a wheelchair. As you know, antique stores aren’t really wheelchair accessible. It breaks my heart to see a good antique store or a “hole in the wall” thrift store and not be able to go in. Watching your videos is like you’re bringing me along with you on your hunt! And you’re so extremely knowledgeable which makes watching even more enjoyable. I just wanted to say thank you. I believe having you come up in my feed was fate for me. I watch every time you post so keep your eyes open for forklifts!😉
I’m in a wheelchair too so I agree with you. Estate sales and many flea markets are also non accessible. The hunt becomes online and paying a lot more. I love learning from this channel so much.
Yes! George’s videos are always an education! I love that about them. It amuses me when people say, “You know so much.” No, I don’t. I just parrot what I hear knowledgeable people say. 😆
This was a fabulous walk through a little part of of Berner Bros Mall, Thank you George, so informative as usual. The little pull toy that Kate found for you is amazing.😊
That all of you have a knowledge of vintage, antique, and collectable helps all of us save lost treasures... Lost history. Ill just leave it at that....
Fun video, George. Funny that you found a Steuben piece because Jocelyn just found one as well. Never heard of mercury glass so always learning something new from you. Hope all is well!
The China or porcelain pieces than let the light through are often made by cutting holes in the body of the piece, and allowing the holes to be filled with a translucent glaze. Kind of like plique a jour, only with clay. I did a play with Chief Joseph many years ago in Vancouver BC, he was a lovely man. Nice to see him referenced on your channel. It was the Arthur Kopit play Indians, and was quite intense.🖤🇨🇦
I've smiling since the first frame! I think my cheeks might hurt after. Finding the Berner family was like a homecoming for all the roaming resellers. It's a point of reference that everyone can come back to, to recharge, get together and restock on the road. You and Kate are such a fun combination to watch. She seems more comfortable really sharing her knowledge when you are both talking because you share a lot of the same passions for kitsch culture and the more obscure the better. I love Kate and of course I love you too, George!
Good evening, George. I liked the blue 1920s vase in the metal base. Those Russian silver fish were fantastic. Loved the old fire alarms. Those would make a rare doorbell or alarm clock 😵💫😂 Great haul! Thanks for taking us along shopping with you!
I really like those framed feather flower wreaths those were interesting. I loved the whole store but stuck out for me. Thanks for taking me along on the journey. You have a great day and safe travels
Lux, Rinso (Blue) and Lifeboy, all from Lever Bros. My parents (thats where they met) worked at the Lever Bros soap side of the plant along with my mother's sister in 1935-1939. My aunts future husband worked on the edibles side of the plant. Family members werent allowed to work, with the exception of kids during the summer, so my mom and aunt had to quit. My dad worked his way up to management. The credit union used to be in the plant so Id go in once in a while...let you in on a secret, soap plants do not smell nice! Employees used to get cases of products for just a few dollars each month, never bought toothpaste, soap, detergent at a store so when I was on my own the price of detergent was a real shock, lol! The memories just came flooding back the second I saw that piece. Thanks for showing it, George.
Hi George, 9a here! I love this video! There is so much of what I love. However the very tall green glass Italian wine bottle is great. I collect some, but also just found two 2 foot tall carriage lights in green that also were Italian wine bottles. Put battery candles in them and they are on our mantle. All the best, 9a from Michigan
11:15 ohhhhh I really loved that Hull butterfly vase! It’s weird because it is nothing like anything I have. Something about it spoke to me though (I loved the shape!) & I would’ve bought it:) Thank you, as always, for sharing so many treasures with us! Safe travels! xo
Jocelyn would have had that big, beautiful tray already precariously stacked in a buggy, with lots of other glass. 😂❤️ I love watching her shop. I’m always intrigued that nothing gets broken.
Love that poster. Pink Panther was my favorite too. My father owned a Esso Station.I used to have a case of the glasses. I sold it in a garage sale for $10. Wish I kept them.
I always enjoy seeing the Ohio antique mall, They have such a variety of things. Thank you for Sharing, Your knowledge of everything. Please Stay Safe Happy and Healthy Have A Wonderful Day
Very interesting hearing that Rainbow did flash coloring for Blenko pieces in the ‘50’s. Whenever I’ve seen the cranberry, I assumed it wasn’t Blenko! Norfolk, Virginia: Shoney’s!
Love the 20th century French piece. $450.00 does seem reasonable, would love to have it in our home. Unfortunately no room @ the present time. Thank you George🙂
Hi George. Always fun and so much info. Not a reseller but info. is always amazing. As you know, I sure perk up when I see all the pretty pink items. Blessings Always
I love the Pink Panther when I was a little kid I would love to have that. When are the first jokes I ever heard is a little kid. What did the Pink Panther say when he stepped on an ant. Dead ant dead ant dead ant dead ant😅
It's so cool to see you going through a place so close to home for me. :) This is a great mall. I haven't seen it in your videos, but have you ever visited Ohio Valley Antique Mall in Fairfield or Flamingo Haven in Cincinnati? I think you'd love it at both of those places too if you haven't. Your videos are so calming and fun, and I always have so much fun learning and seeing what you find. I will be at the Extravaganza this weekend and I can't wait!! Thank you for what you make here. :)
1:30 That gentleman's chest is actually by the Canadian company Tobago. I've had a whole bedroom set like this. 9:50 I have that Jere piece. I'll never sell it because people just don't appreciate it like they should. I think I lowered it down to $450 and woke up from my sleep and took it off the market. The value I put on it is around $850 so I'll just let family sell it off when I'm dead. (Funny, but I'm dead serious.)
You need to read the whole story about the 1936 Olympics. Owens was not snubbed by Hitler, Hitler gave out no metals or congratulations to any Olympic winners.
Hitler wasn't fascist, Mussolini was. Hitler's party was National Socialist Workers' Party, nationalism being extremely vital to the whole concept. Mussolini was the Fascist party which means "strong man" in Italian. The Fascist party leaders never defined their concept. Mussolini was much more of a dictator than Hitler and made all decisions whereas Hitler delegated power to other leaders. Read both of their autobiographies. You'll be surprised at how little you know.
