I went to Costco with my brother-in-law from Korea! He recently moved back to Chicago and it's great to have family nearby. We're celebrating 3 family members' birthdays and cooking up a feast together. He said he wants to learn how to be a better cook from me and I'm glad we have the opportunity for him to jump in with both feet! We'll be vlogging our cooking experience and dinner as well. Ha yeah it was actually fun to shop with him and introduce him to some new products too. I totally could imagine what a bulgogi bake might taste like…along with the ketchup mustard onions 😂

I've been buying the Kimchi at Costco for years and I really like it. I just recently started shopping at H Mart again for the stuff I can't find at other stores, but I haven't picked up any Kimchi from there yet. Do you think the brand from Costco is just as good as H Mart? Thanks. 🥰

That’s cool that you’ve been buying it for years! I don’t know how it compares myself because I have never purchased it from Costco. But my sister-in-law says that this is a very well known and popular brand in Korea, so I’m assuming it’s really good. I do like store bought kimchi at Hmart or other Korean grocery stores, but I do notice it gets overripe or sour super quickly…not the hugest deal cuz I always just make kimchi jigae or kimchi fried rice with it, but I wonder if the Costco one lasts fresh longer. I’ll have to ask my brother-in-law how he likes it.

@@ChefJulieYoon I have heard the same about the Costco brand as it’s imported. I can definitely taste the anchovy and other seafood flavors that I really enjoy in a Kimchi. It keeps for a while, but it doesn’t stay in my fridge for long. I actually started eating way more kimchi in the past year & half because of Disneyland. We live near the park and they introduced a vegan Ronto Roaster in The Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge that is like a pita wrap topped with some diced Kimchi and it’s so delicious. It made me realize how much I loved kimchi from when I was a kid so I have been buying and making some myself. Thanks for the awesome videos BTW, I’m really excited to dive back into learning how to make more Korean dishes. 😋🍴

I like Raos Arrabiata sauce but frankly at that price I'd rather make my own pasta sauce from scratch these days.. It's really easy. Buy good tomatoes or quality canned tomatoes.

Totally agree! I even teach how to make an easy pomodoro in my skillshare sauce class with canned tomatoes. But in a pinch, I love how Raos is so reliably good already. They need to sponsor me cuz I’m always promoting them haha 😂

Ooh yeah…too bad they don’t have that one at Costco. And I also didn’t buy the Pocky. Don’t need a giant size of it- but I’m seriously so proud to see all these foods I grew up with at Costco now. I still remember when no one knew what Korea was growing up and how people didn’t eat the food my parents made for my school for culture day…even though it was just bulgogi and dumplings.

Seriously it’s really good. My friend gave it to me for breakfast bc we are both nursing and always hungry. We were like sitting around eating rice porridge together. It was so comforting and yummy!

Yeah I tried it once and I really liked it. It’s so hearty, savory, and comforting and even comes with a spoon in the package so it’s really an easy portable lunch. Glad you remember Joel from our other vlogs. Shows me how long you’ve been watching. Glad to be filming with him in America now.
