Pretty much obsolete now with smartphones and ipads/tablets that can play basically any type of media you want from flash storage or streaming. DVDs are going the way of CDs.
Tablets and smartphones made them obsolete. When I was a kid we always had a backpack full of VHS tapes to play on our portable TV, then when I was a teen it was a bag of DVDs for our portable DVD player. Now my daughter has a Fire Tablet we just download her movies onto for long car trips.
I remember always wanted that verizon flip phone and idk couldn't afford it or idk but luckily I was able to get the flip phone from motorola which was a carrier by tmobile and now today I have Iphone 14 plus you can do a lot more with it like listen to music watch movies and call people look up stuff use all the social media apps to post or whatever. I'm just like shocked how everything looked back then in 2005 wow.
I remember this style of Walmart as a teenager back in 2005. Hasn't changed much. Technology got better, that's about it. I mean, look at all those tube TVs still being sold in 2005. Plasma screen TVs were still pretty expensive back then lol
@@roboticsandwich8139 You sure about that those tube tv's were getting cheaper and the flat screens and lcd tv were freaking expensive back in the 2000's. Now you can get a 50 inch tv with all the streaming apps built into for $299 or 58inch one for $258.
Wow, Didn't realize tube tvs still dominated the market place in 2005 😯.I graduated High school in 05. I had a flat screen in 2009 but still used the Audio visual cabels for the Xbox 360. This guy at work told me to get some HDMI cables. I was like dude how much better can it look...When I got them and seen the picture I was like 😳. Most of my friends still used AV cables so I never seen the HD picture.
My family was in the same boat. I was 9 when we got our first flatscreen in 2009 and when we put in the HDMI my little brain was blown out of this world. I thought it couldn't get any better than that. The 00s and early 10s will go unrivaled in technological advancements IMO.
Well since this is a recorded video and 2005 was a long time ago there ain't no way to see the merchandise back then unless you watch a video dedicated to someone walking around looking at the shelves.
@@NostalgicJess91 I hope she still has the energy. I just loved the way she no nonchalantly tells the other person on the phone she's being filmed haha
Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire was in theaters at this times. Run it by Chris Brown was the number 1 song. Mariah Carey was the number 1 artist for the year and Star Wars Episode 3 was the number 1 movie of the year.
I was only a 7 yr old kid back then, now I’m about to turn 25 😢… damn, I miss that time, back then before all the covid and the adult life that now I have to presence. I remember every kid (including me) was soo excited for the PS3 for their release in 2006.
Ahh the good ole days when you actually had to get up and walk into a store and get an item you wanted…. Amazon killed off a lot of stores but Walmart prevailed
Oh no! The portable DVD player is sold out! It's cool. Just wait a while and you can spend many times the cost of a DVD on a streaming service you'll barely ever use.
The couple at the end was so nice. I got so invested that I was sad when it cut to black. I hope they are still doing well today, and I wonder whether or not they ever acquired that Cuisinart...
Because in 2005 when someone was filming you it was usually just them doing it for fun. Nowadays if someone is filming you, you don't know what they're gonna do. Now if some rando is filming you randomly its usually for ill intentions.
hello, really compliments for your repertoire, it warms my heart to see these scenes of daily life so much more relaxing and carefree than now. I wanted to ask you something, did you record all these wonderful videos yourself at the time?
3:57 I know he's about to say something negative about the red/black portable DVD player but I had that one lol. It got the job done during all those school nights when I couldn't sleep. 😅
Could be wrong, but I feel like all of these videos on this channel were filmed by the same source. The woman said a "Television Camera", so maybe everyone thinks it's someone filming for the news or something? 😄
I think it's just B roll footage from a news network. You can hear in some of the older 80s videos people asking "is this going to be on TV tonight?" many times. He (or she) goes behind counters at McDonald's and Burger King and the managers say nothing so obviously this wasn't just some guy walking around doing whatever he wanted. People probably see the news camera and just don't care or they're that focused on what they're doing.
I still have family members that use them lol. I'd use it too if I had a giant DVD collection. Seems like a waste to have spent all that money on DVD's that you're not going to watch anymore.
I think only xbox 360 was out??? this was 2005. probably had a good deal on the gamecube anyway, I know I got one for christmas around this time or the year before.
The gamecube was on sale for like 50-60 dollars back then. It didn't do amazingly and it was on its way out. That's utterly incredible Some families can only do so much. That price is like going out tomorrow and finding a Switch for 80$. Imagine that. Yeah they're gonna release a new one soon, but are you really gonna turn that down with all the games you can play for 80$?
Dude my uncle got me a portable dvd player for Christmas, but I was secretly disappointed because I wanted a videoNow which looking back the portable DVD player had better quality, but the only reason I wanted a video now was to show off to my friends at school because it was way more portable! 🤣
I still have my 360 and still play it because i can't afford no new $1000+ dollar console , ill stick with my 360 until my game disks break or the console itself fails.
If anything this can assure you that stuff you find essential to buy now will be obsolete or meaningless in like ten years. Love the people in your life and not your stuff.
Looks like parts 1 & 3 were filmed in Alpharetta, GA before sunrise. Part 2 was filmed after sunrise when most of the crowd is already gone. In the 1st video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zEuaK37clkg.htmlm45s The one lady said she came to Alpharetta from Lithonia.
This year you could get a gba sp ags101 for 49.99. Also you could get a ho ze2000 laptop for 199. Video now color cost 5 dollars. Thry also had a garthbrooks cd box set that o was thrown into when the store opened. I ram to get 3 of the laptops for my family.
@@israelmendoza7599 Walmart definitely still carried PS1 games in 2005. The one in our town still had them in their own little discount section as late as 2009, but it was mostly sports games. I bought Spyro: Year of the Dragon from Walmart around 2006. In 2010 they were gone.
