Me too. I hope things are back to as close to normal as possible by next summer. I have a horrible feeling it won't be. But here's hoping we both get our mask-free, exciting trips in 2021. :)
Most accurate video title ever. Thank you so much for this vicarious window shopping experience-- heavenly. You're inspiring me to keep saving money, to remain energised and focused in my fiscal quest. With videos like this I'm constantly reminded of what I'll be rewarded by whenever international travel is on the cards again so my discipline and momentum stays on course. In the meantime, I'm writing down new places I'm shown in videos like this, adding pins to my google maps etc so I can hit the ground running one day soon and explore all these new places I've been given a sneak peek into. Thank you so much! :)
I love that Muji store, I went there last year just after it had opened. I've been shopping in Muji's in London for 20 years, so to go to the HQ in Ginza was like a pilgrimage for me - I spent a fortune! Btw you should go to that department store you showed a little of at the end, Ginza Six. It's a great store (not cheap obvs!) but the best thing about it is the amazing roof garden at the top which is free and has fantastic views - it was one of my best finds when I was there. I can't wait to get back to Tokyo next year!
I haven’t been to Ginza in forever and I had no clue about the Muji hotel! My 10 year-old stationary obsessed self would’ve died to visit 😂. The Tsutaya looks so pretty too! Also yes to the crispy side of naan 🙌🤤 I don’t know how you only got one though haha
Ginza is my favorite town. When I was 18 I started to work in Shinbashi so this is the town I went after work. Then I left for the US for 42 years and now back in Japan. I revisited Ginza and so much changed but still really my favorite place to shop and eat. Many art galleries and so I am a painter because of Ginza. :)
I never knew they started carrying groceries and all those varieties of tea. Just being in Muji store itself if heaven... that amazing aroma smell. I noticed that different locations/countries has its own aromatic store smell😌
Ha! I sometimes get olfactory flashbacks to places I've been on holiday-- just for a few seconds and then it disappears. I got a flashback to the smell of the ABC stores in Honolulu the other day and I wanted to just keep sniffing the air and hold on to it for as long as I could. Alas, it evaporated within a few seconds. I wonder if it's an illusion, something happening neurologically or if I'm really sensitive to a melange of odours and can recreate things in my mind with some kind of low-rated superpower, haha. Your comment has made me excited to visit Muji HQ now. A new fragrance to add to my memory library, thanks! :D
Muji is AMAZING for scents, especially next all the diffusers 😂 I am sure that they pump a special scent into the air that makes you feel clean and relaxed. It’s a very pleasant experience!
That’s really interesting!! You may have what I have, where I can think of something and instantly smell it. Sometimes music can trigger it or even a certain colour. It’s both a pleasant and confusing sensation 😂
My GF(none japanese) worked in this area literally right around the corner. I got off work early and went to meet her as she got off and we walked around this area. I went in that Muji. I didn't know it was the biggest one in the world!
I got a pair of those socks. It feels strange at first but really comfortable after a couple minutes just like John said. Your toes want to be seperated sometimes.
I’ll have to give them another try although my toes like being together 🤣 I wanted to try those trainers that separate your toes but now I’m traumatised from the socks lol
That was so funny when you were trying on Jon's socks, but i agree i wouldn't like them either 😂 The Mizu store is AMAZING! I've never seen one or been to one before and the amunt of stuff you can buy 😮 I love the tea shop and all the different teas 😍
I see why your mom would love Muji! It looks amazing! Also I struggle with toe socks LOL my mother in law got me my first pair last year for xmas and my feet are so tiny that they fit awkwardly on me and I'm kinda scared of them xD
Omg you’re all wild I can’t even wear fuzzy socks 🤣 I bought some cute ones for winter and it feels so ~unnatural to me 😆 I’ll have to give them another try!
Que bom é ver tantas belezas e curiosidades dessa enorme metrópole que é a cidade de Tóquio,até ouvi música popular brasileira tocando no Shopping!😉 As 23:13,em 05/01/23.🇧🇷🙌
Hi Marianna, I just wanted to tell you that I've only recently discovered the Geography Now channel and wonder if you watch it too? He does such a great job. It got me thinking that YOU could put a similarly focused creative spin on some of your travel vlogs by using your qualifications and skills in this field, for sure. Nobody else is doing anything like that when it comes to Japan vlogs. Probably because they're not you and don't have your experience, passion and knowledge. I especially enjoyed the New Zealand episode on the GN channel. I'm wondering what kind of places are on YOUR travel 'bucket list'. And everybody else too; I'm interested in other people's discoveries and goals too when it comes to experiencing planet Earth and varied cultures. To ask people where they would never EVER want to go seems to lead to a vulnerable, tenuous conversation with inevitable accusations of xenophobia, snobbishness, ignorance and racism. Which sucks. That's a fascinating question! I'd love to know everybody's answers, no judgement.
That’s such an interesting suggestion, thank you!! I have watched his channel in the past, I love to watch that kind of content! Especially when it’s about places that I haven’t really looked into further. It’s funny you should suggest this because I had plans to do something similar to your suggestion this year but 2020 had other ideas 😅. There are very few places I wouldn’t want to visit myself personally (as I just want to experience them first hand) but there are many that I wouldn’t want to encourage people to visit. I’ve had the opportunity to travel a lot in 2019 and there are a few vlogs that I didn’t release because I was concerned that it may look irresponsible to promote those areas once I actually attempted to plan them out (I also wasn’t a tourist in those cases as I had to travel either for work or to visit family). This is definitely something I would love to talk about on my channel in the future though so thank you so much for such an interesting suggestion. Also, thank you so much for your kind compliment!! Your comments always lead to an interesting discussion ❤️❤️❤️
@@MariannaVlogs What a great reply! :) One of the ultimate channels here for going where I never would is definitely 'Bald and Bankrupt'. His really off-piste, ultra-rural Eastern European and Russian adventures in search of 'Soviet' stuff are so fascinating to me. I find his vlogs deeply compelling, I just binge on them every now and then. For example, I could never go to Lunik 9 on my own, nor would I wander aimlessly around India, hitchhiking-- and I certainly wouldn't go exploring irradiated parts of the Russian hinterland like he does but I sure am fascinated and grateful to have such an entertaining, confident and thoughtful guide who allows me to live vicariously through them. I'm sure he's got his faults as a man but, ahem, he couldn't be a patch on the nastiness of He Whose Name Shall Not Be Mentioned, ha! Anyhow, I love your vlogs. Dark hair suits you well. :)
So beautiful. Everything looks so neat and perfect, even the stall shops look tidy. I love my country but when Japanese come west they must think we live and behave like cavemen.
A day in Beijing had 3 times more viewing than a day in Tokyo. Beijing is more interesting after viewing both videos. China is more fun to visit and live in after all.
We have a muji hotel in Beijing! It looks very similar to your one. I thought that the shibuya crossing was so small when I saw it in real life! Hahahaha those toe socks make me think of like a thong for your feet 😂 there’s just something not right about them ...
@Sweet Asian that’s such a broad question I don’t even know where to begin! In my opinion, Japan is a cleaner and more polite and customer service orientated country. Both Japan and China are very safe though. And the technology in both countries is amazing, China is very tech advanced in the big cities. And the food is delicious in both places too 😋 there’s so many more things to mention but it’ll take way too long haha
@Sweet Asian 1. In regards to the economy, China is more developed (since they have the second biggest one in the world). Also in regards to technology, I would say both countries are on par with each other. However, because China is so huge and has such a large population, I think there are more disparities between the rich and poor compared to Japan (which of course has its own inequality too). One of China’s goals for the next few years is to develop even further and I think they will achieve it. But I think both countries can be considered as highly developed and advanced in general. 2. I think it’s difficult to rate both countries in general and I would have to do it based on each individual factor and gave it a rating for each different aspect. But at the same time, I also only visited Japan as a tourist for a few weeks so I don’t think I have a complete picture of what it’s like to actually live there as I do with China. 3. For Japan in 3 words - clean, polite, ordered. China - convenient, hectic and diverse. Hope that helps! You should visit both countries if you ever get the chance
@Sweet Asian Translation apps will be your best friends in China if you don’t know the language! For Japan I would recommend a JR pass if you would like to visit a lot of cities by train. I would also look into pocket WiFi for both countries
@Sweet Asian yep places still accept cash but most pay on their phones. However if you don’t have a Chinese SIM card and bank account you won’t be able to do that so as a tourist you’ll have to stick to cash. To access sites like that you’ll need a vpn but if you’re not here for long it’s probably not worth it
@@MariannaVlogs Someone gave me a shot of alcohol in Ginza. I blacked out and don't remember anything. I was only two beers in. It was definitely spiked. The person I was with said the same thing happened to them.
