What was old is new again. I felt I had "arrived" when my barber's suggestion that I was old enough to graduate to a Princeton cut from years of a buzz cut. An absolutely great style.

That was a great demonstration of a REAL Princeton! I say that because today barbers seem not to know what a Princeton is--they often think of a medium-length combover as a Princeton. I had this haircut all through high school and still love it today. It was a super popular haircut during the '50s and early to mid-60s. Mine was quite a bit shorter than the one you cut (other than the front), but the key to the haircut is that the crown and top are clipped so short that combing is not necessary. Obviously, that can be anything less than half an inch, but most commonly it is around a 1/4 inch at the crown (or less). Anyway, thanks for the demo. I hope your client liked it. BTW, I just returned from a trip to Chicago where I saw many, many young and older men with Princeton haircuts. They must be very popular in the midwest.

How many cm are left on top? Is a 6 mm on the sides and back and 1.5 inches on top a Princeton haircut?

Mostly scissor over comb and then the 1 1/2 metal blade

@@GregZorian i think scissor over comb is a technique that only professional barber can do, if we have no experience on cutting hair and want to cut hair during this pandemi covid is hard

To me, that is more of a crew cut than an Ivy League style. What is the difference? Thanks

You could call it that or a very short Princeton. Typically an old fashioned brush cut would be a buzz all over and just a little longer in the front.
