SHORT SUNDERLAND: IN-YOUR-FACE Low Passes 1993

This video features Kermit Weeks' premiere 1993 Oshkosh airshow debut of his British Short Sunderland flying boat he had just purchased in the U.K. As I understand it, his 33 hour trans-Atlantic flight home took him directly to Oshkosh, basing out of nearby Lake Winnebago.
I preface this video with a summary backstory and some personal reflections on the plane and the event, culminating in full-audio footage of Weeks' multiple low passes in the Sunderland. While there seemed to be "millions" of video cameras there, I've never seen any other at-length footage, published or otherwise, of this Airshow debut.
Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy it.

Thank you so much for publishing your work its superb quality. Those piston powered aircraft have a character and sound that sadly you don't hear anymore

Thank You so much for this video! I live in Southwest Florida but had gone to Wisconsin on vacation. My cousin took me to Oshkosh 93 for a day and I got to see the Sunderland fly. I had previously watched Kermit's two two videos and got very confused when he said 1994. I gathered all the information that I could find from that trip. That was the last time I got to visit Oshkosh and always remembered it as 93. I began to question my sanity. Surely Kermit couldn't be wrong! Everything that I found confirmed 93, but the greatest relief was hearing you say it was 93. It was so Awesome for me to see the Sunderland, the Super Connie, and most important to me, were the five P-47's! My favorite has always been the F8F of which, that Gulfhawk was so beautiful, had my picture taken with it. I couldn't believe it when I heard that it crashed two days later and was never to fly as the Gulfhawk ever again!

Thanks for watching and I now know I'm not imagining things about my being there in 1993. Weeks corrected this error with a caption on one of his later Sunderland videos.

Thank you for this video. You say that you find "Sunderland" easier to pronounce than the aircraft's civilian name. Try saying it as "Sandringam", with a lack of emphasis on the second 'A'. That is the way we Limeys pronounce the name of the Royal estate in Norfolk. We never call it 'Sandring Ham'. :-)

Thanks for your input, mate! SANDRING-em it is. That's easier, and more appropriately British !! Thanks again!

I came here for the Sunderland footage but want to see more of the F2G model!! Also: if you want to jump to the actual Sunderland footage, go to around 7min.

Gosh, what scale is that B-24?!

It's approximately 1/15. It's from a radio controlled aircraft kit from Motion RC. Flies very well.
