Ben I love how open you are to share your life experience with us you a a very smart inelegant sweet-hearted man. Versus interesting I would love to sit and have a meaningful conversation with you and learn your views on life. Keep being you Ben and don’t change. .
My mouth dropped Mr. Ben when you pulled the top off that box and exposed that transformer. What a monster! Always enjoy your videos sir, Thanks for sharing with us. Wish you well.
Only bad thing about being one of the so called “prepared” is while saving up and being ready is great if things really did go south in a hurry. I would argue that all you are saving for is the meanest guy in your town! Especially now that you’ve let the proverbial cat out of the bag. The guy willing to do unspeakable things is arguably the guy you’re saving up for! Anyways great video thx
I missed this notification! You took the lid off and there she was... the vision of beauty.....my favourite.......a giant toroidal transformer😇🥳🧡🧡👀😄🤤 I always scrap them to recover the copper for future casting, (of course also good value selling as a functional transformer) you get so much copper off of them and then you can weigh in the ferrite anyway. For anyone who wants to, they are so easy to process, (ok the wrapping is a bit annoying) but just cut all the way round the side edge and all the goodies just slide right out with a couple of bends. It is beautiful copper and double layered.....yummy!!! 🥰😜🤤
104,000 subscribers you are the man I hope one day I get something like that that would be amazing thank you for sharing your videos and your knowledge
I've been enjoying your Prepping Channel Ben. I look forward to seeing it grow! I hope to see 10k sub increase in the next few months. If you know how to make this transformer work in a Prepping situation, you should incorporate it to your Prepping Channel. Have a Great Day My Friend!
Wow and wow again- what a Huge and Heavy Transformers - some Money here - ha ! We enjoyed the Video very much and Yes - have some of your Basics stocked up in Your Pantry - Can of Beans - Tins of Fatty Fish like Sardines and Salmon etc,etc ! We enjoy Your Talks and Stripping Sessions very much - stay safe and Cheers from us in Australia !!!!
Hello mate I'm Steve in the stats . And we can't get e-wast like you do , here there's contractor that pick up east and thier monitored by each state . I just get flat tvs very rarely a pc . People here aren't aloud to curve thier e-wast . You have to call one of these contractors . Ben i love your videos very informative so bye mate
Don't know why I bother... but here I go again :p That power conditioner is as good as the day it was made... just waste scrapping it :( It's a really clever design where the input voltage can vary but the output voltage remains stable (all without electronics!). It's value was in the box with the capacitors as a working unit. Only thing that can wear is the capacitors, but they last years and I doubt that there was anything wrong with those... but like I said at the start... it's gone now! ;)
Would have been great for out on the farm, using a cheap generator (voltage all over the place), feed the power through this and it's good to use for computers etc
I've been using a power conditioner like that to feed computers for 30 years. If there's a voltage spike big enough to overwhelm all that copper and caps, the whole world will have a problem. They are very efficient. Other than resistive losses, the primary of a transformer only draws the load on the secondary. Chopping it up for scrap is vandalism.
@@Demobius I wish Ben would reply "oh shut guys! Won't make that mistake again... Will be ideal for my end of civilization prepping" 😛 yeah efficiency isn't as great as an active one... But I've had a online ups blow up from over voltage on a generator (within spec). Anyway.. I'll wait for the next one he scraps so I can post the same again 😂
would like to see more scrappings films about dismantling the Elecrtonic you are on the mine list ,best regards From poland i'm waiting for more films scrappers
I wanna see some of the same stuff that’s what I’m working on now tearing things apart. I’ve been picking up now for a long time now it’s time to start tearing things apart I need to look at videos like this
Hey mate have you considered the option of upgradeing your bench to recover copper from trasformers? I've seen quite a few setups from USA based scrappers and boy oh boy they manage to process tens of transformers by the hour, quite interesting for someone as precise as you :)
@@kevinpotter7899 ahahaha in all honesty it would not be a noisy setup, most ones i've seen use an idraulic press with some sort of spike to break then open, an electric drill is more noisy than than 😁
NOOOOOOOOO Hi Ben the toriodal transformer was more useful in its case as the "in and out" connections are handy and ready to go ... it sounded like it could be configured as a isolation transformer in a service department or a step down for 120V gear... but as you have it now ..urgh try connecting those windings back to connectors !... It must be one of life little joys being your next door neighbour ... crash bang crash bang ... does the council know your running a scrap business from a residential property ... what could possibly go wrong with all those massive batteries /UPS 's and chopping into wiring
good show mate be a good prep if you could power up one of them with coils with wind and two big fishing magnets but bet you do not get get much over there do you ? have been waiting in your other cannel for you too carry on since around 4 years or is it a tad more have taken my content back down as i got a newcomer been a tad rude about me and prepping the last 30 years wrongly lol theses young whipper snappers think they know it all after leaving a tin of grog in the fridge a few months without licking the frost of it lol
scrap that transformer ben if u not going to try to sale it the way i do it is easy way to scrap it i get the grinder and run it in the middle all the way around take the plastic of i get flat screw driver lift one side up on the cut to then be able to take the copper of very easy trust me is worth it they would be alot of copper in that i say about 5 or more kgs of number 2 heavy copper really worth it then transformer price
Yeah.. I needed tips on how to make money driving rideshare back in 2015 when scrap prices crashed and needed more work and I came across him in the vids lol, he never disclosed it on his scrap channel for some reason.. maybe need extra $$ like it did at the time.
Too bad you didn't put a meter on the power supply before scrapping it. You can energize the primary without popping breakers. A buyer might want to know step-up or step-down ratios. Knowledge is worth more than scrap. Capacitors are rated in MFD. Without knowing that number, it's hard to judge the value.
