Oh my! Mae Mai is looking much better. Most of her wounds have healed and it looks like she has put on some weight. Lek and staff take such wonderful care of these magnificent elephants. Thank you all!
While she is looking better, my heart is broken for her. The agony she must have been in for all these years. I can’t believe how cruel people can be. You’d think because they were using her to work they would’ve taken care of her better. I’m going to just say this too. The only time they ever want to sell these elephants is when the are so damaged and on deaths door and they can’t use them to make money anymore. It’s so disgusting. I would spit in the face of any of these people doing this.
Im right there with you spitting in their face. If animals had the power to treat us how ever they wanted, they wouldn't be cruel and barbaric to us. You couldn't pay me to treat an animal so badly. I hope she only knows love and happiness from humans from here on in. Poor baby.
I agree 1000%...and just have to add I hate ppl responsible for such abuses! There is NO excuses for this to happen! AND I blame the authorities allowing it to go for so long and even ordinary people who saw the treatment and condition of this poor creature which belongs to all of them! AND did NOTHING....May they have the worst ever karma, here, now and forever....

OmG. So Very Thankful for This Update!!! Had read that Mae Mai's owner agreed for Lek to keep her only until she's well. The thought of her having been already returned sickened me. I dread that moment but at least for now, she's still in the Best of care. Poor girl. Relief!!!

Thank you for all the care you are giving to her. The wound is particularly nasty and how she could have been left like this is beyond belief. I hope she can stay with you forever now and look forward to a better future. They are sensitive animals and it must have been so traumatic for her in the past. She is eating well and it is wonderful that she is trusting you to help her. Great work vet! xx

Poor Mae Mai has been unwell for a long time.She has a strong will to live as Lek has said.I hope the leg brace will help her to put more weight on the leg.So Happy for her. Keep fighting and thanks to every one who has helped.U.S.A.

I love her freckled & eyes. I remember when she was first here & people in the comments thought she was to hurt & why not end her life & Lek said " Just look at her eyes, she wants to live". I will never forget that. I new Lek & her team are the best in the world.
Mae Mai is a lot better,I’m glad she well be getting a knee brace,these beautiful babies should be treated better,I’m so happy that ENP is such a strong advocate for them

Thank you for the update. I wish I could understand what happened to her leg and why her bad leg can't be fixed, other than just making the skin wound better. I'm very happy to hear about a possible leg brace, and hope that helps. She certainly seems to be in pain from the leg injury. Is she given pain meds?
@@georgiaharris1140Many working elephants in Thailand are domestically bred, not wild. The owners force the breedings. Luckily this owner surrendered her because her injuries were so bad. Sucks doesn't it?
@@SchlichteToven Lek says sometimes it takes years and sometimes never. It is sad. There is a very good documentary about Lek on Amazon video called "Elephant Whisperer". It is excellent but has a few painful moments.
My poor little baby elephant.....how did she get the wounds? I hope that it was not from people mistreating her in the past. She is safe now in paradise with a wonderful bunch of volunteers and professional animals caters. I love her so much 🤞🏽⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💚💚💚💚💚🍀💚🍀
She was force bread while she was chained to a tree so she was raped imagine the mental torture she is going through because of that alone. Plus all the other injuries

Oh God!!! THANK YOU! At last someone else says she feels this way!!! The mere thought that I can't be relieved to see her healing & gaining some weight sickens me. The thought that she may be basking in their care saddens me. The thought that she may dream that she's been spared despairs me. We need to start a movement to implore the woman to release her to ENP but how?
What are the animals abuse laws over there, are they allowed to work injured animals? Maybe we can get together and work in different ways to do what needs to be done to make sure she is safe

Even though Mae Mai has come to a wonderful place for her health and soul , you realise how swollen she was from her body trauma. It is a wonderful to see ears flapping and her tail swinging.
If there is pus in the abscess, can it be drained? Is it correct that her leg has a dislocation, and is this the main cause of her discomfort and inability to plant her right leg? If the wound is weakening her leg, is it possible that her joint could naturally relocate when she starts to place more weight upon it or articulates it more by floating in the pool?

Great progress. Is the big lump an abscess or dislocated bone/joint?. It almost looks separate from the leg and could be cut off but if it is the bone then it couldn't be. Just wondering she looks happy and content munching away.
can't the knee wound be lanced to accelerate healing and relieve the pain she is obviously suffering THANKS for helping these critters bless everyone of you!!!!
As I understand it, her knee is dislocated, it's not infected. They are developing a brace for her to give it support. They can't operate on it because they don't have the facilities.

This is so sad to see this poor elephant in this shocking condition. I hope she gets well soon. The cruel, evil owner needs to be jailed for life. The knee hurts her. I hope the medicine makes it better soon & her other injuries.
In another video, they said she was chained when a bull got loose and into her area, and she was helpless when he attacked her. She could not get away because of her leg chain. Maybe the bull attacked her because he wanted to breed, but I’m not sure about that. It was an unfortunate accident that he got loose.

Our prayers will continue for her to heal well, we ask the Lord to help her with her pain too. The poor treatment they gave her was DEPLORABLE, but what can you expect from the monters who did this to her. We believe in God, and Karma is a bitch. CHAINING ELEPHANTS IS WRONG! HURTING ELEPHANTS IS WRONG ! NEVER CONDONE ABUSE TO GOD'S ELEPHANTS ! We can only fathom the pain and pure hell she was put through, what goes around, comes around. She deserves all the food her heart desires, she's paid her dues. ❤
