ah, I am wondering if the tv station uses a computer programme to decipher voices and transfer it into writing? Is that common in New Zealand to put captions? Because in Germany you don't see that (Germany is very bad with using subbing and sign-language, it's outragious.
Oh, just actually checked that spot (had assumed it was one of the Craig scenes). In some places maybe it's just a simple case of fitting in a shorter line or that 'one day it'll be you' is a bit confusing - just a bad line that the subtitle writer decided to clarify.
have absolutely no idea why the official tv put up subtitles which are not totally accurate but it happens, thats why at the start of the video at the top on the right it says subtitles.
Craig died in the episode and you all are talking about subtitles, oh well all I came to say is I don't fell anything about the deaf of Craig Valentine I could care less and I see the rest of you feel the same way......anywho......RIP OLD GUY
what??? and why the official tv puts up subs which don't say what the people are actually saying?? that's strange... ;) well, but thanks for your answer! :)
I've watched a ton of these and the subtitles are only very occasionally different but always for a good reason; either a colloquial NZ figure of speech that might be misunderstood by another audience or when tone of voice gives a slightly different meaning to the literal one - which is what the deaf community could receive it as (I notice (!) is used for sarcasm or irony). A 'turn' could either mean a dizzy spell or in a low, threatening voice, a bashing.
The subtitles are created by TVNZ and the Irish broadcaster RTE1 show them in their entirety. I have the subtitles on for all the Deaf and HOH people (including myself). I have no control over the content of the subtitles.
Yeah I know but still wishful thinking, of the slight chance he could come back but in reality its a case of whats better, never seeing craig again cause he's in witness protection or never seeing craig cause he was murdered, that way is equal to the same...
