Dustin this material we’re digging out is pure gravel, river sand and rocks. No organic material what so ever. The lack of organic material here in Ecuador is a huge problem for gardening. We filter this material with a screen and mix the “fines” with cement. With 4 to 1 we end up with an incredible strong concrete. We built this ecolodge basically on top of a gravel pit. No complaining this gravely material the rivers provided made it possible to build here. We started without a road 2.5 kilometres of schlepping and horse power.
