Precision machinist here. When tapping with straight flute taps, to increase the life on them and reduce breakage, turn the taps 180°, then 90° back. “Two steps forward, one step back”. It helps the chips to break, the flutes to not get as clogged, reduces teeth chipping, and increases ease of cutting. :) Happy Tapping!

Tried that with a set of BBC Dart....no movement. Just drilled the guides so only thin shell was left . Then the air hammer Driving them out....

Your videos are great short and to the point. I see some of the comments and I can tell that you and your father run your shop the way you want to have it ran. You're not going to make any shortcuts when you're rebuilding heads or rebuilding a motor or whatever you're going to do. The people probably bring the stuff to you because they know it's going to be right. I've sent plenty of things to machine shops over the years but I've never really understand what they ever did but seeing you guys do it is an education for me. Thanks and keep it up

I personally love watching these videos. I wish I had a shop and some of that equipment. I’d never leave! Was a machinist for a few years. Love anything with an engine.
