Your 100% correct, they are not my grandpa’s Savage. My grandmother worked for Savage Arms from 1935 to 1946. When they got married, she gave him a beautiful model 99 in 250 Savage. Also, you want to talk about portability, it’s a takedown and small enough to put in a range bag or a small backpack. Also, during WW2, my grandmother made the Thompson submachine guns. When they were in Utica, NY, the quality of Savage Arms was outstanding. Savage made the model 1920 from 1920-29. It was a scaled down version of the 1903 Springfield action. The carbine weighted 6 lbs. It was all steel and a walnut stock.
Amen brother savage quality has gone to chit just like browning. Remington Ruger they used to make rifles you could be proud of and still shoot to this day

I mainly buy Savage because they are accurate and produce dedicated left-handed rifles. Their new pistol is sub-par but i look forward to new models. Love the two first rifles.
3200? Your kidding right? You can get a pretty damn nice custom rifle for around that. Many other options out there for less money and better quality. You could build a very nice tikka for $3200 and have some left over for glass and ammo
You could build a much nicer Tikka with glass - and enough ammo that I'd be using a dolly to carry it out to the truck, and still have enough money to take the wife out to a nice fancy dinner a few times.
@@jesusisalive3227 That may have been stretching it, but not all that much. Tikka rifle: about 1000 bucks. A little less, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Some glass for it, about 500 bucks. A couple cases of ammo - about 1000 bucks. New stock, 500 bucks. I've got now what - 300 bucks left over, so maybe I only get to take the wife out twice. But please - carry on with your bad self!
@@jesusisalive3227 Right - I missed the carbon barrel part, but with a steel barrel its still a nicer rifle. Add 700 for carbon barrel, so I still get a much nicer rifle, WITH glass, and I still get some ammo, but its more like "all I can carry by hand" instead of "time for a dolly" amounts of ammo. My point still stands.
Proof barrels alone are half that directly from proof . They are venturing into the higher priced precision rifles out there. 4,5,6k dollar guns are out there lol

@sebastianpoe3799 they are over 1k dollars 9 times out of 10 from proofe directly. Atleast they use to be. I think the value comes better from just an ultralight not the chassi rifles, I built a chassi savage with mdt before they even collaborated and it was more expensive than buying one now from savage
I'll never buy another Savage until they can implement an actual adjustable 2 stage trigger. When the 110 rifles were inexpensive tack drivers, i was willing to overlook the trigger. Now their cost is comparable to the other big names who also make very accurate rifles and either offer a really good trigger, or whose designs support a good aftermarket trigger. Savage has had the same crappy trigger for over 20 years now, and the trigger they had before wasn't any better. If im buying a new scoped rifle for under $500 and its proven to be very accurate, I expect to make some compromises somewhere. When im spending $700 or more for a stripped-down rifle, at the very least I should be able to get a good trigger for it. If I'm going to spend over $1,000 on a stripped rifle, it better already come with a nice 2 stage trigger installed.
First, can these two be any higher on meth? I mean, how fast can two guys talk? The whole clip sounded like a WWF commercial. Second, $3,200 for a Savage? Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. I have four Savage rifles, I own them not because of their smooth actions, or amazing stocks, but because they shoot straight and are CHEAP.
That guy should be selling veg-a-matics on the shopping channel or better yet at a carney and not firearms for Savage. Still waiting for the free steak knives offer if I act now.
I guess I'm more of a grandpa gun man, there's nothing appealing to the eye for me in a plastic stock, I'm sure their probably tack drivers but if i give 3k for a rifle it's going to be pleasing to the eye
WOW! This is a strong contender for the ugliest rifle made competition. The entries grow in number every year, but this first one shown here gets my vote. I don't care it's capabilities, I would be embarrassed if I was seen with one of those in my hands.

Dear savage, listen to your customers you build all kinds of guns, and most of them suck for different reasons. Maybe you should think of quality instead of quantity. I have a savage 220 the bolt is sticky and the ejector is Horrendous, it barely pulls a Spent shell out of the chamber, very disappointing…
@@HazardousRobYeah, I recently found out that they come from Proof Research. Good move on Savage's part since their own barrels have been junk for some time now. The last 2 Savages I bought had outrageously bad barrels straight from the factory. They are swamped with returns, it took me over 2 months to get my Axis II Precision back... with another swiss cheese barrel to replace the swiss cheese I sent back to them in the first place. I've given up on Savage.
It’s laughable really. I’m amused with so much bullshit about how everything rifle must be “Tactical”!! I guess I should feel ashamed of myself for killing all the deer and elk..antelope…etc..using those terrible old bland bolt action rifles in the 70’s..80’s..90’s…early 2000’s….because you know…they weren’t “Tactical”!!! I wasted all my hunting years learning how to hunt and track animals…learning how to shoot those “Un-tactical” rifles. Makes me wonder how I harvested so many game animals with such shitty firearms back then!!
For that kind of money, buy a Tikka, a really nice chassis, glass, a couple of variable shoulder barrels, a decent bench with tools, and more ammo than you can carry...
For that kind of money, you can assemble a rifle with a semi-custom 700 based action and a high end custom barrel and have enough left for some pretty nice glass and some reloading dies.
I just bought a 22 long rifle from savage. The bolt does not slide very smoothly especially for the first little while. You have to push it straight or it locks up. However, the accuracy is absolutely freaking amazing especially at its price point
@95GTSpeedDemon yeah agreed. They have a good barrel. One of the best! But why can't they put some quality into the actions? A little polishing or better machining goes a long way. My new savage rifles in my opinion just aren't what they should be.
