I love the new avatars, it really helps tell the story. Also, I have an idea how much time you put into it, both deciding and making it happen. I think it came out great! What an epic rush, that's some homecoming! Of course, the real run good is being back home. Glad you had safe travels. I look forward to the next time, but till then, I'll look forward to the vlogs 😊

Welcome home. Great vlog. Actually I’d have been interested in seeing more of your hands on the welcome back game, especially how you get to steal blinds and hearing your reasoning. Congrats. Your Hustler experience is why I don’t play in my local card rooms. Lots of PLO double board bomb pots and being charged by time not rake makes a bad combination for me.

The thing about nits that you need to know, especially fishy type of nits is it’s not worth it calling hands like kq suited against their range, your kx and qx are often gonna be dominated and you get put in a very tough spot and have to laydown some strong hands. Also they are always gonna bomb away on pretty much every flop so it very hard to realize equity like when you had to lay down an open ender. Even if you flopped a combo draw the way they bet you have no fold equity against them and are forced into a flip. Better to set mine with pocket pairs, you’ll have easier post flop decisions, if you miss it’s an easy fold and if you hit all the money will go in by the turn easily anyways.
@dougmccuskerpoker
@dougmccuskerpoker Год назад
Totally agree, better to set mine. I had 25 in. Needed to call 55 for 240 pot. It was a loose call and I’m am good at not getting trapped. If I get into a flip situation, so be it. As played there is no way to continue with his sizing, folding was probably the best option.

Good hourly, at the Hustler you have a different breed of pure gambler, I played at Oceans eleven in Oceanside near San Diego once, unbelievable gamblers there , they literally tried to bluff every hand, if you have it you can make a fortune there, they dont believe anyone, unreal, hope youre well big guy, best regards Fraser

I did play at Oceans this trip. The 2-5 was full of regs and sharks while I was there. They also weren’t vlogger friendly. I did book a win but the game was tough.

Nice run, I haven't had one of those since Moby Dick was a minnow. Did finally book a small win last week, my suited and connecting broadways did well, but as usual the best hands I was dealt all lost. Double straddle is on and I'm sitting in the cutoff with two black aces, the player in the first straddle says he is leaving after this hand, so I know he is calling, so I just shove pre to isolate after both players in middle position limp the straddle. He calls, and the station beside him calls as well, I have them both covered, the station shows A-10d which I have really crushed, and the player who is leaving isn't happy that I have aces, the turn and river both come clubs and he flips over 2-3 of clubs for a massive runner-runner suckout. I get kings in the cutoff and the station raises pre and I of course 3 bet 4 x, the flop comes 2-6-10, and the station has only 50 behind so I put her all in and she woke up with aces. Oh well. Next hand I get two black Q's and 3 bet the station's open, and she calls as usual, flop comes 3-7-9 with 2 hearts, I bet pot and station snap calls, heart comes on turn, she shoves, and I have to fold my Queens and she turns over J-6h. Wow, call a 3 bet pre with J-6 suited. I win a few pots with broadway hands, and by now the station has given most of her chips away, and on the last hand I play before the game breaks I look down at AK suited on the button, I 3 bet her raise to put her all in and she calls with KQ off, of course a Q hits on the flop and I lose this one as well. No reason AK should best KQ anyway, ugggh. Anyway, I'm glad you're running good and maybe next time will be the session that variance doesn't smack me in the face.

Max buy-in is sometimes mind boggling. For a 2-5 game at my local poker room it’s $2,000. And here at the Gardens it’s $800 for a 5-10. Go figure.
@dougmccuskerpoker
@dougmccuskerpoker Год назад
I prefer smaller blinds and deeper stacks. The 2-5 at Capitol is 2500 max initial buy in but match the stack afterwards. It can play very big.

First hand: "I don't think anybody has 63." Doug, please. It's a gunshot- of course they can have it. But yes, not raising the flop was a serious mistake.
@dougmccuskerpoker
@dougmccuskerpoker Год назад
It’s possible someone had it, but I wouldn’t call in that spot with 63 just because if I hit it, the obvious straight gets there. I totally agree that not raising flop is a big mistake. I was fortunate that my error didn’t cost me my stack.

The 1st hand is a bomb pot. Why are you trying to put players on ranges. They literally can have anything.
@dougmccuskerpoker
@dougmccuskerpoker Год назад
I don’t put people on hands in bomb pots until they act or bet. Once they put money in the pot I try to narrow down their possible range. On that board, straight and flush draws were the hands that were most concerning. I should raise the flop to make such draws pay more.
