You're welcome! I've had some lag with preview/effects as well but when you render, export that lag shouldn't be there unless your original footage already had some lag for whatever reason.

If I have a bunch of filters to convert should I convert the video with one filter at a time or does preview scaling help with this? Especially when it comes to color grading, mixed with transitions and other filters it seems to drag everything to a crawl or sometimes it doesn't convert properly. Any advise would be great, I'm a beginner with Shotcut and wonder if I should be using Davinci instead. Thanks in Advance

Sure thing! I'd recommend going with Davinci Resolve especially for color grading.

What if you add ram to your pc, will that help performance as well? Because scaling does nothing.

RAM should help but it also really depends on many other factors like complexity of project and your computer setup overall.

I have my preview scaling set to 360p and I still get audio / video stuttering at the start of every preview, and then on any transition (just two clips overlayed on each other) throughout the project. It doesn't appear in the final export, but it makes it incredibly hard to preview. I am stumped as to what I can change to make it work better.

am new to video edting.. when i complete my video editing, should i render the video without changing the preview scaling or it won't matter. and autoimetically render in 1080p, which i previously selected?

It should render out to the resolution you have on export versus the preview scaled resolution.
