Well, the only idiot I’d say who probably was looking at this as more than a training exercise was Monoma, and he got humbled by Uraraka. His arrogance was his downfall.

extecpt its a horrible match up for Tetsu Tetsu if you know the basics about hardening metal lol......rapid repeat heating and cooling would turn his hardening into something even Todoroki could break through with a punch....

I mean he could have rapidly super heated tetsy tetsu then rapidly cooled him down you know the old trick of what happens to heated metal when cooled down rapidly

Honestly though, this entire arc felt very contrived and...kinda fake. They tried so hard to convince us that 1B was actually on par with 1A, and they COULD have done a decent job at it. But instead they force characters whom we know are more capable than this to lose in very dumb ways. This makes Bakugo's complete victory the most satisfying round of this entire arc, because why would they even struggle with 1B? It seemed like the logic they were trying to convey was that 1A had more field experience, but 1B spent more time training, so that must make them pretty neck and neck. But I don't buy that. Field experience trumps any training they could do, after a certain point. Training is just a stand-in for proper field experience, after all. You get enough training to make you feel prepared, and then you have to get field experience to round off your abilities. 1B has had next to no field experience, so there is no way I believe that they could match 1A's crew with their far greater field experience, even if they had less training. Todoroki losing because a pipe fell on his head is the lamest way he could have lost this fight. At least have Tetsu punch him out if you really have to have him lose this matchup. Remember that this is the same kid who survived several 100 percent smashes from Deku, and was still able to keep fighting after that. The guy isn't a tank, but he isn't fragile either. That's what I mean about this arc feeling contrived and forced. We have seen what these characters can do and accomplish, but this arc nerfs a lot of them to make the 1B crowd look better. I'm most disappointed in Momo. She's described as a genius, and she has an incredibly useful and versatile quirk. By all accounts, she should be one of the top heroes of her class, but she always goes back to making her stupid canons, and they almost always make her fail. She can make ANYTHING, but she makes those dumb canons that never grant her wins.

You also have to remember that these kids are like..16....and when you are fighting with everything you got, distracted by some guy beating you with a metal arm, the last thing you're doing is thinking clearly

@@PandaAchievement Even it he didn't use ice to cool him rapidly he was probably heating up up enough that cooling off via air should have started producing cracks or brittle parts at the very least.

@@Shifty51991 i'd have to watch the episode again but based on this clip..not necessarily. Todoroki is heating up the air so much, as well as their immediate area of their fight is on fire, I say no..his steel wouldn't crack at least not by the naked eye.

Well if it turned blue it would be the same level of heat dabi uses which is even hotter than endeavers fire so it would melted tetsutestsu

Because perhaps by making it brittle he's essentially destroying Tetsutetsu's skin tissue/muscles, which might not be something he wants to achieve. I know in this joint training they were suppose to treat each other as villains, but killing your opponent might be too far. Also, maybe he just didn't think of it? It's not a technique he required before.
