Just to clarify something that people keep commenting about because y'all aren't watching and paying attention. These aren't mine, as mentioned in the video. The 2" doesn't have a pinned front sight, as mentioned and shown in the video.😁

A fine video sir. I like my Taurus 856. It’s economical, concealable, and you’d hAve plenty of fire power if you’d need it. I was in the market for a revolver, but did not want to sink a whole bunch of money into it. I got mine for about $360 including tax, and it was definitely one of my best gun purchases ever.

nice video, thanks. i got my taurus 85 in 1985 barely used from a pawn shop. it was my first non-government sidearm and has been an excellent defensive piece: easy, reliable and accurate. loaded with wadcutter ammo it is quite soft shooting. most folks new to firearms would be best served with a $300ish taurus 38sp revolver.

My 856’s wear X-S Big Dot sights. They’re made for the Ruger SP 101 but they also fit fine on the 856. I got mine in green but they also come in red and white. Hard to miss the big glowing dot. I think it has all the precision I’ll need for any encounter out to about 15 yards. Great video sir.

I have both the SW 642 and the T856, and I prefer the 856. The 856 is only slightly larger than the 642, but only slightly, and not enough to make a difference for concealment. I'll also add that I prefer shooting the 856. I wanted the 3" version but couldn't find it, but am still happy with the 2" model.

Hercules de Brito I believe the G series pistols, the TX22, and the GX4 along with Heritage Rough Rider revolvers are made in Bainbridge, GA but the revolvers are imports from Brazil. Quality control from Brazil can be more spotty than those pistols made in the US so especially look the revolvers over for proper fit and function before buying. I have seen some new revolvers imported from Brazil that had timing problems. Fortunately my 856 Defender did not.

These revolvers come dry. Clean and lube them right out of the box. Lubricate the hammer, behind the trigger where the pin head is located to the trigger spring. Work the action with snap caps to help break it in better. Either one are excellent buys, and weapons for the money. ♠️🎩☯️🏁

I personally would prefer the 3" barrel in this Taurus Model 856 .38 Special revolver, and in stainless. There is nothing wrong of course with the 2" barrel version in blued finish. Read on below:---Jim Farmer Lake County Examiner, Lakeview, Oregon: Wednesday, March 24th, 2021/Letters To The Editor Letter to the editor: Best general purpose handgun For a general purpose handgun consider Ruger’s SP-101 .357 Magnum revolver: “stainless steel”, 5 shot swing out cylinder (double-action), with 4.2” barrel and target sights for the citizen owning only one handgun. Versatile for "self-defense/house protection/concealed carry", as a kit and trail gun for the outdoorsman/ sportsman, and for urban metro vs. wilderness rural use. At 30 oz. unloaded lightweight (for the hiker, backpacker, trapper), yet heavy enough to handle the .357 Magnum. Loaded with .38 Special 148 grain lead target wad-cutter ammo (next to a .22 or .32) practical for hunting small game: rabbit, squirrel, and grouse (for the campfire skillet), for dispatching vermin such as raccoon, skunk, possum, etc. Even for butchering livestock such as cattle with a head shot. Loaded with CCI's classic .38 Special shot or snake load of No. 9 shot highly effective in killing rattlesnakes. Readily and instantly accessible in reach via a nightstand, dresser or bureau drawer, or next to a sleeping bag inside a tent is very comforting armed security to have, especially at night! This handgun would also be great for a long-haul trucker, or hay hauler, to carry. Even for the motorist traveling on a road trip. Yes, bear in mind being broken down, stranded, and having to spend the night alone in your vehicle. This .38/.357 revolver combination along with an Atomic Beam Flashlight, survival knife, fresh drinking water, food, toilet paper, shovel, matches, wool blanket, etc. could certainly take back the night. Even for a woman it's smaller frame and size would still fit her smaller hands. And firing.38 Special ammo in this .357 Magnum could still be handled by a female. Double action revolvers can be improved with aftermarket combat rubber grips. I recommend reading, "Meet Ruger's SP-101 Revolver: The Ideal Gun For Self Defense", by Kyle Mizokan via the April 2019 issue of The National Interest. -James A. Farmer, Merrill Merrill, Oregon (Klamath County) Long Live The State of Jefferson! Note: "SP-101 Like Physics, Only Practical" by Law Officer--January 3, 2009
