Round 1 and 3 were debatable (round 3 not as much Tony went in), but I would give round 3 to tony quite easily and round 1 to Shotty. It came down to round 2 and Tony was weak that round probably his weakest. Tony stumbled quite a bit and his delivery wasn't as good as Shotty's. Round 1- Shotty Round 2- Shotty Round 3- Tony Insane battle.
I’ve watched this so many times, and every time I watch it, I change my mind about who I thought took it. So I went full nerd (never go full nerd), and got the pen and pad out to judge it round by round. I won’t go fully into it bar for bar or in terms of points, but I’ll just let you know how I ended up calling it... Round 1: I have Shotty taking this fairly comfortably. Both battlers delivered great rounds, but this round had some of Shotty’s strongest bars, and was probably Tony’s weakest round - yet it was still a dope round from him which goes to demonstrate how high the standards were from both battlers in this battle. Round 2: I have this down as the closest round of the entire battle, and it was also the decisive round of the battle. After judging it, bar for bar, I narrowly edged it to Shotty. There was really almost nothing in it, and I think that if Tony had just spat one extra bar that was dope, he could’ve won this round. I honestly wouldn’t have any complaints if someone else gave this round to Tony, but for me Shotty edged it. Round 3: Even though Shotty lost a bit of momentum, he brought it back with some freestyle bars that definitely landed. It was probably his weakest round, but as with Tony’s first, it was still dope. I had Tony’s third as being the best round of the entire battle, from either battler. He totally diffused two of Shotty’s angles about being a bad Father and not battling overseas, with his rebuttal, and then went on to deliver one of my favourite battle rap rounds of all time. Pure fire. He won this round by a bigger margin than Shotty won by in either of the first two, but unfortunately I already had him as losing the first two so it wasn’t quite enough in the end. To people saying that there was a clear winner, or that it was easy to judge - it really wasn’t, in terms of how close the second round was. Rounds 1 and 3 were fairly simple to judge, but the battle as a whole wasn’t as there was virtually nothing between them in the second. Essay over. Such a great battle, and one of the best ever in Don’t Flop.
I am such a fan of shotty but if you count punches as it is a battle I give Tony the win I really do. I also feel shotty threw his last round away the whole scheme wasn't relevant

Great battle, i'd give it to Tony but not by much. What was with Shotty mimicking Daylyt's style and delivery in parts of his rounds? I think parts of Shotties wordplay sounded corny and he started to sound like a url/smack rapper at times. I really rated Shotty from day one and i still do. There's no question that he's one of the best in the UK but since he had that spat with Eurgh and fucked off to KOTD he seems to have let his ego get the better of him. Don't get me wrong I'm all for confidence which you need in battle rap of course but Shotty just seems like he's let it all go to his head a little too much. Still glad he's back in DF though.

I wanted Shotty to win. He did have some nicer bars overall (pupils/arms, tony kroos, buruckus/mr t e.t.c) and is more applicable to the American scene but Tony won this one on personals and the story. A story you wouldn't particularly care for if you're American. Tony won the first round based on the Mancity bars that were far more personal than Shottys and talking about the ducking (You cant duck someone...then comeback all prepared like nothing has happened). Shotty took the 2nd based on bars but they were both kinda weak that round. Tony CLEARLY takes the 3rd round because Shotty is spitting complete bollocks about Tony (you can't win on bars if you're actually making no sense): and he flips the kids part....the biological/napalm wordplay was alright but that bar about the bartender was the hayemaker...even 'ruining shotz like im photobombing' was just nice. Then he ends by killing Shotty on pure effort level as Shotty says this is his life.... I want Tony's title gone as much as the next man...even he is bored of this shit now....but someone gotta kill him convincingly.

Locksmyth ruined Shotty's 3rd round for me and annoyed me throughout the battle! Fools like that shouldn't be let on stage where they can distract the emcees, especially with battles like this! Apart from that, it is a very debatable 2 - 1 win for Tony! Both killed it though and I'd imagine after a few more watches my opinion could easily change. Sets a whole new standard for UK battle rap.
Stumbled onto watching rap battles, specifically the Don't Flop events. I'm AMAZED they can remember so many lines, AND in front of a huge crowd? How do they remember so many lines?! Impressive to say the least!
They rehearse, and you don't need to remember everything like singing a song you haven't heard in awhile. Or how you can hear a song with a line like "Just a small town girl"
Looking at in a fair bit of detail, Shotty was more lyrical through most of it, but he's clearly altered his style to cater to international viewers now. Liked most of his bars far more though. Tony's swag won him the crowd a lot, and he had some genuinely fantastic bars, but so many reaches as well and a couple of schemes that were awful, like the school and "if there's arms afoot..." ones. While Shotty wasted most of his 3rd with that father angle (played out or what?), which I will admit Tony flipped fantastically, the whole easy wins thing is true, he's happy to just keep doing that and not really compete, when there are some guys in DF like Dialect/Cee Major/Ogmios who would debatably not beat Tony depending on opinion, but can easily compete on an international level, whereas Tony's happy to just battle once every few months in a title match and take an easy win, partly on bars, partly on crowd reaction and partly on E&D hype, and all his internationals I've seen he's not done great in apart from maybe Illmac. As much as I respect Tony as an MC I think it'd be nice if Unan took the title, he's consistently been one of the best in the league and he's been grinding for it since '09, he deserves that shit. And he faced down Diz and come out better as a result, something not many people can do. I appreciate Tony can't travel if he's a dad but DF should do him a solid and bring him in some competition every so often. It's like Pat Stay, he's happy to just battle to keep the chain on KOTD and do nothing else or whatever. At least a lot of URL dudes like DNA, Chilla, Clips and Arsonal, as well as Daylyt and a few West coast dudes are willing to travel almost anywhere to show why they're some of the best in the world. Whether Tony keeps his title or not, I think he should ask Eurgh for more international opponents to test his skill and to compete more often. However E&D truly annoy me as a crew. Im guessing your a fanboy. you must be, if you didn't recognise, every round Tony spat was personal and direct, with minimum filler. Shotty spat a lot of fillers, fucking excellent fillers at that but still fillers non-the-less, he is obviously a talented lyricists, no doubt, but this is a battle. and taking down your opponent (not just styling) is the objective, and Tony took him apart, with relevant subject matter, clever schemes, funny punches and stage presence and swag. Shotty showed off well, and just showcased his lyricism, Tony came for that W and got it. I give it to Tony 3-0, which technically is a body bag, but there where 2 close rounds.

Watching from Detroit where some of the greatest battler's live, I was extremely impressed with both these guys. Super smart, tons of confidence in their delivery and I could understand all of their stuff but maybe that's because I spend my summers going from Cork to Galway and across to Manchester and London. Anyway, great talents.

I'm usually all for crowd reactions but this time I'm glad the crowd stayed quiet, whether it be because they didn't understand the content or just because they wanted to listen. For me watching at home, it was a much better experience because I could appreciate the battle without having to hear the crowd being told to be quiet every 30 seconds. Also, crowd reactions can sway judgement, that's a fact. I think this way we will see the truest out-come possible when the votes are counted.

It's been magnifent watching Shotty's meteoric rise from his first battle with Ars to becoming one of the most intellectual, poetic, percussively diverse and profound rappers of his day. 1st round I edge to Shotty. Tone felt like he was struggling, warming up and it dragged. Shooty was pumped from the crowd and stacked it. 2nd round I edge to Shotty again. Shotty was a little off on this one, few mistakes, no killer bars but enjoyable. Tony had acouple great shots but a lot of misses and delivery was weak again. 3rd round clear Tony. Shotty was on fire at the start of this round but seemed to run out of bars by the end and the beef with Locksmith killed the round. Tony did a couple good flips to kick off and delivered some real blows. I'm torn, it's 2-1 Shotty, but Tony was probably better across the 3. That said I'd rather listen to Shotty's bars again than Tony's but it's mostly delivery.
