Shouka's Final Performance - Six Flags Discovery Kingdom - August 18, 2012

This was the last ever Shouka show at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom since Shouka did not perform on the day she was scheduled to leave. I was running low on battery so I didn't film all of the playtime part. On August 20, 2012, Shouka safely arrived at SeaWorld San Diego and joined the Shamu family. We miss Shouka here in the Bay Area and wish her a happy life at SeaWorld San Diego!

I used to work there when they first got her and that back when it was still Six Flags Marine World. I got the experience of getting to see her up close.

I agree with you I checked with seaworld San Diego three times that year and they said should is doing well and is happy. Wish Miami Seaquarium would have a tank larger like that for Lolita and import other orcas from Russia for her be easier but be nice if she got moved to SeaWorld Orlando or marineland Ontario and join kiska. Though kshamenk was supposed to be a orca companion for shouka years ago hope he can be exported to kamogawa SeaWorld to be a new male orca in place of bingo and Oscar

@@lbabytutorials4852 at the time, six flags tried hard to get kshamenk as a companion but due to it being illegal for Argentinian wildlife to be exported from the country, it fell through.

I'm sorry, but she likely will not be in the show. She has been unable to consistently stay with trainers and they have yet to successfully get her to gate into another pool. Btw, Keet did bows, a fast swim, a pec wave, and a stage slideout on his first day.

SWC has held ten orcas without problems before, and even seven orcas, two pilot whales, and at least seven dolphins without much hassle for several months. Kasatka will likely put Shouka in her place before she has her calf, and her having a calf is the perfect opportunity for both Kalia and Shouka to learn how to be a mother. The pods at SWT and SWF are in my opinion not as structured at the one at SWC and I wouldn't want her to go anywhere else.

Yes it would appear there was no need for protected contact on that day. I don't think Shouka was paying 100% attention but she still did a great job! I hope so too.

Oops sorry about that. I meant introductions to other whales. Keet and Ikaika were introduced to new whales just about once a day and it is likely that she will be introduced to another member of the pod tomorrow or whenever she is ready.

We'll see if they have her in any shows... I have some college class so I'll only be able to make it to the middle show (at 2:30). With Keet, who eprformed the day he arrived, they just had him do some bows and that was it =P Nothing else in the show lol

FYI Kasatka and Kalia were among the last to be introduced to Keet and Ikaika. And I disagree. He would risk inbreeding (trust me, he mates with ANYONE) with three out of four females. Also, with SWF busy training three juveniles and one calf with their only true reliable performer being Kayla, adding Ikaika who required intensive retraining may not be the best idea.

Wow! Be sure to try to catch the introduction, if there is any tomorrow. Good luck trying to get her to stay with a trainer (she splits a lot) and gate lol.

The dolphin show will be moved to the old shouka stadium. The Cirque Dreams Splashtastic show will be moved where merlins dolphin harbor used to be.

I just went today, and found out Shouka wasn't there, as much as I'm disappointed to not seeing another element of a show in Six Flags, I can see why they would ship her out to seek companionship. It seems Six Flags isn't interested in creating bigger space for animals =o(. They renamed the statium; Toyota Statium, and they do dolphin shows, basically 6 dolphins jumping, leaping, getting people wet.

I love all your videos! and, their program was pretty educational giving all those Orca facts! Shouka is my fave Orca at Sea World so its cool seeing her perform at her old home! Thank you for sharing! (PS I know this is from a few years ago still awesome! lol)

She's moving to San Diego? That just seems to spell out disaster. It's pretty crowded there as it is, and Kasatka is pregnant. She will not be happy with a new female around her calf... I think she should move to Texas, or Orlando at the least.

She was at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo like it says in the description. I used Flipshare, a video editing software that came with my old video camera for putting this one together and Windows Movie Maker. All I really do is put videos together or shorten them into clips, so nothing fancy. I hope you have fun and bring home great pictures and videos! I would love an update on the pilot whales too!

I know you said Vallejo but I have no idea where that is either. Lol. Is it in California or Florida. I keep wanting to think it's Florida for some reason. And thank you. I was curious as to what you use whether it was fancy or not. Haha. Just need something to edit my OWN vids. :) I will definitely get an update for you on the pilot whales. I'll even see if I can chit chat with one of the trainers as well. :)

Christina Wiesemann It's in California. Yeah, I don't use anything too fancy for mine so what I use is an option. Thank you! I don't know if they will be in shows then but they might still be doing the pre-show, which the trainers might tell you which show they will be doing it for if you ask. They would have learned a lot by then so I'm excited to see how that goes!
