Follow me as I visit Albania, my 60th country, and find out whether it needs to be your next holiday destination. Is it worth the instagram hype ? Or is it a classic insta vs reality moment and really not worth bothering?
We stayed at Hotel Joni, Ksamil, for £65 per night via Booking.com and flew from Manchester to Corfu with Ryanair for around £215 each return. We took only hand luggage for our weeks’ stay to save some ££.
Food and transport while we were there was noticeably cheaper than other European destinations so you definitely get value for money.
It’s worth saying that you can fly direct to Tirana from some uk airports however be prepared to drive a few hours to the Ksamil area from there.
We didn’t hire a car and found that parking in some spots was busy and looked a nightmare so glad we stuck to the buses which were cheap and frequent.
Is it the “Maldives of Europe”?? Well not quite, but the sea is beautiful and it’s definitely worth a visit.
