I’m a Southampton fan who was going to make the trip to Norwich this weekend, instead I’m going to watch Woking vs Dag & Red. Thank you National league for giving me some footie!!!
How does that make the FA corrupt? Not saying that they aren't anyway but in this case they have to protect their reputation because if more clubs have players and staff that contract the disease, the press will cricisize them and say that they didn't do enough to protect clubs and supporters from coronavirus.
I understand the top 4 leagues calling them off. I don't think Non-League should call games off unless you really really have to. It should be your personal choice if you're suffering don't go , for me it's very unlikely I'll catch it at Concord v Tonbridge. Clubs rely on money into the clubs and this can damage them a lot.
Think this will help out our non league teams a bit with many fans of the premier league and EFL going to non league. Feel bad.for the smaller clubs in league one and two that will be missing out on gate revenue which means a lot more at that level.
I think if you are going to postpone football in this country, every league should do it at once. The fact that now some leagues are open whereas others aren't just sends mixed messages. It also now will run the risk that many more people will attend these matches than would otherwise have happened, which will increase the risk of transmission. I'm a Notts fan and I have a ticket for tomorrow's game but I'm almost certainly not going to go. People say that non-league attendances are low anyway but Meadow Lane often pulls above 5,000, which seems like a significant enough number to me, not taking into account potential inflated attendances. If the FA and other leagues above and below the National League have shut down their leagues, there is clearly enough of a reason to do so. The fact that the National League remains open gives the impression that they have little regard for the safety of players and fans in comparison with the other divisions. There's also the sporting element of it all; how fair is it to the competition if some teams are able to play whereas others aren't? It's a much better reflection of the season if all teams can play on equal footing. I do completely get the viewpoint that clubs depend on match day income to survive and it will certainly be a rough few months, perhaps even longer. But it should be something that English football tackles as a whole so that we can get through it together. Whatever decision any individual takes tomorrow, I hope everyone stays safe.
I am from Hong Kong, had been experience of SARs in 2003, and experiencing Corona Virus right now. I am afraid I disagree with you Luke, even the chance of infection is much lower than in football league, some people infected despite they take care of their hygiene. The decision is harsh, but this critical moment should decrease any chance of infection as much as anyone can.
@Keith Burtain I know it is Britain, but virus doesn't care what region is. Hong Kong learnt the lesson by early prevention since 2003, I hope anywhere in the world should take the same as well. Otherwise that will cause more sad news...
Every league in the London area has curled its toes up and declared it is getting under the bed and not coming out until the monster is gone...………..apart from the combined counties league. Great credit should go to them for doing this and I just hope they are rewarded this afternoon with huge gates at every game.
I think it's a great idea to carry on - for the smaller leagues at least. National League is qestionable, but with smaller crowds the risk is negligible. Im in a risk group for Coronavirus but the risk is outweighed by the negative effect that no football would have on my morale and mental health.
Answer: No! HARDLY ANYONE SHOWS UP TO NONLEAGUE FOOTBALL MATCHES (much like the Priaulx League here in Guernsey 🇬🇬) SO NONLEAGUE FOOTBALL SHOULDN’T BE POSTPONED! AND EVERYTHING MUST BE UNCANCELLED/UNPOSTPONED RIGHT NOW!
I was going to vlog four matches over the next few days, out of the four only one is on. There seems to be a lot of panic set in. I've never seen anything like this. Just wondering how long this is going to go on for
I have just read article from Telegragh UK, saying if in April the 2019 - 20 EPL season gets cancelled that Liverpool would be crowned Champions, no relegation from epl for 2019 - 20 season and the EPL expands to 22 clubs for next season with Leeds United and West Brom coming up from championship. If this happens, would championship have 22 clubs next season and what happens with all Leagues below including non league.
All because of bloody China. Eastbourne Borough are doing pl and efl season ticket holders £5 entry today. Them and other non league teams should get huge crowds today.
A lot of the public still have their heads in the sand over this. Yes, this will cost clubs money but their staff and fans (many of whom are elderly!) are surely more important. Games will be called off/behind closed doors very soon anyway. Hope I am wrong but we'll very possibly be in lock down just like Italy within a few weeks, but only as a reactive rather than proactive measure when it's too late!
How did RU-vid allowed use to say coronavirus as some RU-vid commentators here in the USA have been told they would be demonitized if they mention the word?
