Yes, Gideon had an issue thinking that he was the right man to deliver Israel. Gideon was a simple person who was called to do a mighty work; not knowing that it really wasn't Gideon doing it but God himself.

It IS Biblical. My father was a humble and righteous man with a strong prayer life. He put out the fleece (so to speak) sometimes in his life.

Hey, so turning from your sins is a work. If you stop breaking the law, then you are now following and obeying the law. Which is a work. For example: if you stop disobeying your parents you would then be obeying them. Jonah 3:10 KJV “and God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.” Repent comes from the Greek word metanoia, which means a change of mind. Romans 4:5 KJV “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” So you do not have to repent of your sins to be saved. I know it’s hard to believe, but salvation really is a free gift. Also read 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 please and Ephesians 2:8-9 1 Corinthians 1:18 KJV “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” When i had first learned the truth salvation, I didn’t want to believe it because there were so many preachers that I had always loved and looked up to that preach a false gospel, and it hurt so bad to know that they think they are saved, but in reality are deceived. I went back and forth between believing the true gospel and believing a false gospel(repent of sins heresy), but the more I prayed and studied scripture the more I was convinced of the true gospel, and could no longer deny it, even though it hurt. My biggest fear is for those that believe they are saved, but are not actually saved, that they might one day end up in hell. So that is why I wanted so badly to share with you the truth. And of course, we ABSOLUTELY should do our best to turn from our sins, and live for Christ, but that doesn’t save us and it isn’t required for receiving salvation. God bless you. I've been seeing alot of people here say that phrase, but the issue with that is those who have been caught in a lie for a long time cannot distinguish what truth is. Jesus is the Son of God..he's not a created being..he pre-existed the creation because he was in the beginning WITH God. If Jesus was just a man as we are he could not die for all mankind but he is God and therefore sinless, so he can die for all mankind. Our sin is imputed to Him and His righteousness imputed to us!

He also prophesied falsely. That's a good sign.

This was said to Ezekial. He was an Old Testament prophet to Israel. The story is descriptive, not prescriptive. Christian's today are to proclaim the Gospel, nowhere in the New Testament are Christian's threatened in this way if someone doesn't repent. The Holy Spirit convicts and open hearts to receive the Gospel, or for conviction of sin, not people. It's a mix and match theology that does not stand up to scrutiny. In what context did God say it, was it at a specific time and place or was it a command to everyone. notice in preceding verses God told Ezekial He had set him as watchman over the house of Israel. Watchmen stood at the city wall and warned of danger. Ezekiel was to warn about the coming invasion by Babylon and if they didn't listen they would physically die. You are holding your thought as higher than Scripture, believing what you thought God told you as more certain than Scripture. We have to get back to Scripture, study it and you won't live in fear for 20 years, with false theologies that make you live in fear and threaten you with destruction if you don't obey. Are you in a good church, and you are right not to trust yourself, Christianity is not built on our thoughts and feelings, it is built on Christ's finished work. Look to Jesus not works, and forget this thing that has been condemning you for 20 years. Ask God to forgive you and move on, and study and learn and pray for discernment to rightly divide the Word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

@@judithmargret5972 what then am I to do with knowing what He told me back then is coming true? How can I, in good conscious, keep this from the church? And its my conscious that is bothering me-not the fear of condemnation, although the fear of being a false prophet weighs heavily on me. How many people are being hurt right now because of false teachers! What would settle this for me is to ask a council of elders if what I think God said is actually in His word. The problem is, no one will talk to me. I stayed away from church for 20 years because the last church I went to was a charismatic church who loved being slain in the spirit but not being there for me during the worst time in my life. And, during the 20 years I stayed away, despite running into numerous Christians, one of which I worked for for 9 years, no one cared. The church i go to now I've only just started. I don't trust them. Im waiting. I have no one to talk to.

I was confused as well, but I watched it a few times and I believe that he is saying that asking for a sign from God is not good thing. I believe he is saying that Gideon was asking for a super natural sign not based on faith but because he didn’t trust God. He already knew what God commanded him. 5:31. He is talking about HGV teachers believing that God gives super natural signs but this is not true because they have a misconception of these verses with Gideon and the fleece. I was confused at first and had to re watch the video to get a better understanding. I agree with you that it seems insulting to ask for a sign. Thinking of saying “Make the water in my sink ice if you want me to do this” seem disrespectful and like I don’t trust God. I feel in my Christian walk when I ask God what I should do and while I don’t get a clear “Do this” I eventually feel directed by the Holy Spirit to make a certain decision.

I believe that God does not directly speak to us. I do believe that we can be guided through the Holy Spirit and clearly feel directed from God. Just as we feel convicted from the holy spirit when we sin I believe we’re able to feel at peace with a decision based on our solid knowledge of the word of God and relationship with God. Galatians 5:16 “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” and Psalm 143:10 “Teach me to do Your will, for you are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness” I do believe that the Holy Spirit of God can do wonders. The overwhelming feeling during singing praise or the weight that falls off my shoulders when I am forgiven. The Bible calls for all men to repent. Even Jesus, when He began His earthly ministry, He preached saying to all to repent and believe in the Gospel. Repentance leads to/produces salvation. Once you are saved however, repentance becomes more of a relational thing. For example, if you insulted your mother and father, they don't stop being your parents nor do you stop being their child. However, you can't just go up to them and say, "hey mom and dad, pls lend me $20 bucks" when there's a wedge in the relationship/fellowship. If you hurt or disrespect your parents, do u not repent and say you're sorry for what you did? Of course you do. However, it's not done as a means to be saved but as evidence that you're saved. Faith without works is dead meaning that if we're truly saved, our faith will show the evidence thru works of righteousness that the Lord Himself works in us to will and to do for His good pleasure.

@@Emptiness9148 repentance is necessary for salvation. But the biblical word for repent does not mean turn from sins, it’s a change of mind. From whatever you were trusting in to save you to trusting in Jesus, (from unbelief to belief).

This is an example of another descriptive (rather than prescriptive) text. We go to Paul's epistles, which are written to the Church, and we don't see anything like this. We are, instead, told that we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).

@Selim Vasquez-Lopez I don't think the video is criticizing asking God for things. We are to bring our requests to God in prayer. However, in the NT epistles, the instructions regarding prayer say nothing about seeking signs.

It is not a Pagan ritual if you do not do it in a Pagan way. One thing I have had to consider recently is whether somethings origin makes it always defiled. For the sake of argument let's say birthdays were originally celebrated as a pagan custom. Just because that is how it started does not affect your intention when you do it. I think of it like I think of Halloween. Good question. Might be worth a video.

@Selim Vasquez-Lopez I think it is possible to glorify God by celebrating a birthday. I think it is permissible. I son't know if it started as a pagan holiday, but if it did, I don't see how it would be worse than eating meat sacrificed to idols.

@Selim Vasquez-Lopez A birthday could certainly be celebrated in a pagan way. But I can't see any problem with having one day a year when we thank God especially for one person. I guess I just don't see how ancient pagan practices would effect the morality of personal celebrations now. Just because hippies invented the sandal flip-flop does not make you a hippy for wearing them.
