He'll do mainoo for Gallagher and expect a pat on the back
And that didn't have anything to do with coming on for the final 20 minutes against a tired Slovenian defence who left more gaps for forward passes? Same with Gordon.
If Southgate rotated the squad properly and never gave certain players a guaranteed place in the starting lineup, perhaps there'd be a bit of a dynamic wrt to players stepping up when coming on to prove a point. Palmer's elite but I bet he also came on with something to prove to Safegate. Kane has no reason to bother putting in a performance beyond "wearing the shirt" - he's knows he's going to start, even though Watkins should get a chance.

What a win for for ITV to have an actual current EPL manager on the panel and a coach of one of the top 5 teams at that. Like Fergie seeing Aston Villa get smashed early in the season and saying he thought they played well and would be a top contender when very few saw it, the top managers just have such an incredible perspective and I hope it sets a precedent for more managers on these types of shows.

Ange will not be bothered one bit Harry left after watching him lead the press this tournament.. Although him and maddison looked dynamite during pre season Harry has shown with his performances and snappy comments that the pundits are bang on and he is currently holding us back single handedly by not leading the press and turning over the ball in the opposition half
You're overstating his impact, which is easy to do considering the team tactics from Southgate play to nearly every player's weaknesses and stifle any semblance of cohesion throughout the side.
Mainoo changed the game for some reason. We started dominating position in their half before Palmer came on. But, I agree Palmer and Mainoo should be starters. England will dominate games and most likely win.
‘England just needs to play the guys in their right positions.’ - Correct. It’s not rocket science is it? And yet Gary Neville comes out with this nonsense remark that ‘we struggle to get players in our team and need to figure out how to fit the best players into the team.’ - Simple Gary, just play the players in their proper positions and if they can’t play there because a better player is in that position, then they just miss out. I can see why this guy did such a crap job at Valencia…
@@ChronicTheHempHog-mf3nhI’m an advocate for Watkins being a viable options and deserving a chance but he’s played before and not really done anything.. also his contributions when he has played this tournament is simply actually running into box - anyone in England should be able to do that.. if you wanna win I think it’s more important trying to actually do something to get Kane in the box and scoring, because then you have arguable best proven striker in the world and not a Watkins experiment
And guess what .. he won’t start either! Even in a knockout game which should be 💯 % different to these borefests. Southgate & his crew have no clue how to coach/ maximise players with natural ability. He’s like that guy off top gear driving an F1 car. He’s got golden tickets in Mainoo, Gordon and Palmer who can get him to the final but will ignore the lot out of ignorance, stubbornness and pride.
Theres a reason why Palmer had 40 G/A last season and was Chelsea's saving grace because like they said everytime hes on the ball hes looking to do something and cause threats and that's the energy you need out there. Creative players who are attack minded and looking to get goals
I like how you say that’s the energy they need. This is a knockout tournament, not a regular season where you have time to build something rigid. Here you cant bench a player like palmer that can threaten any opposition
Exactly. The season before I don’t think Chelsea even got to 40 goals for the season, the way palmer slotted into a chaotic team and improved them was immense
@@ashleytgrandison690 He actually had 42 g/a if you include his games with City at the beginning of the season. 42 g/a with 9 penalties. So 33 g/a without penalties. That's a number Saka will never hit in his career.
No gary its not about "getting all those players in", it's about selecting a group of players that gel together in a formation that gets the best out of them!

@@JK-ff1ft in that position, yes it is. Everyone’s saying it. We need to play a player who’s experienced and comfortable at playing LF and in turn, naturally creates width and danger in that area of the pitch. @@JK-ff1ft What's Foden done on that side of the pitch that tells you he's better in that position? Gordon in 4 minutes helped create the biggest chance England had the last game... Why? Cause that's his natural position and he's super talented...
Bring back Ange who brings a bit of balance to the pundits and also a far more expert opinion on my opinion. Hes decent manager (not a Tottenham fan btw) but very obvious it’s players opinions vs a manager, without bias, and has a better understanding of the game from a managing perspective ; hopefully he’s shut down a few of the ‘60 million’ English managers
He actually disagreed with the criticism and essentially went with essentially ‘ yeah they need to prove a point but got the job done, got 1st, so move on; let’s see something better and somewhat different in the knockouts’
I also like what Ange said. Kane making excuses about protecting criticism of younger players lol and Ange said protect them from what…. They aren’t playing. Go make a difference on the pitch like other players in this competition 👏
Absolutely, I've had enough of spoilt man child fans who have no perception of reality, think England should be playing Brazil 70s football whilst waltsing to the final to lift the Cup 😂. England are doing everything right to win a tournament. The weakness is our defence so Southgate has adjusted for that. Tournaments are won on a strong defence hence why City took so long to win the CL and teams like Greece, (even Italy) Denmark and Iceland have done well despite their talent pool in many cases. England are growing into the tournament, have won their group. There is nothing to moan about. Southgate has been brilliant for England and deserves much more respect than he gets.
He should of played from the start of the tournament. Cole Palmer was trying to make passes through the Slovenia defence he was running at them and taking them. Probably the most positive ive seen a player
Every match there is someone to moan about. Isn’t it? Last match it was TAA, so now that guy got benched it’s Palmer not starting games. Now if Palmer starts the next game it will be someone else. Enough of these cleaverrr armchair opinions
Ange is top-notch - he truly embodies the ideal manager for England. With his international experience, ruthless determination, winning mentality, and ability to promote good football, he’d be perfect for the role.
I love Ange and his positivity, hes right the players won't be worried about being harmed playing in these games they want to go out and do England proud. Get palmer in and play Mainoo from the start then attack because you would be suprised at the fruits it would bear Gareth you lightweight.
Watch cole Palmer's highlight reel about his Chelsea season. He scored over 20 goals, made multiple assists and consistently opened up every other premier league team's defence. This kid is only focussed on getting into the oppositions defensive areas and making something hapen! Exactly what England are currently missing!
Yes, he absolutely should. He has more G/A than any other premier league player. He did that in one of the worst chelsea teams ever. He played well in the friendlies. And what he showed in his cameo was something no one else seems to. He's not scared to make those killer passes. He ALWAYS finds space. He runs at players. He just always looks dangerous. How can you not start someone like this in a team that's struggling to break teams down? But the thing is, Southgate is like a broken old man stuck in his ways. He has his favourites and he won't change. He'll happily fail claiming these guys are young and don't have enough experience. Despite seeing how fearless these young guns are.
As an Aussie it'd kill me but he's perfect to manage England. One of the best man managers and motivators in the game. Also he stated that the young players don't need protection. They just need to be out there and play.
And thats exactly why he will never get a look in, the FA DONT want success, look at the sh** managers theyvr had for the last 20 years! The FA only want Yes men and weasles like Shitgate
It is funny and people who feel the need to explain why international experience was mentioned are people who don't have a sense of humour or understand banter
Bellingham has been shocking in the 10. He didn't demand the ball enough, didn't make space for himself, didn't have any driving runs or forward passes into the box. He seriously lacks creativity and Foden should play there instead. He should either play as an 8 next to Rice or be dropped.
For real madrid he plays as a 10 and is the best in the world and ballon dor contender there, care to explain that? Seems to me it’s just England are shite and Southgate
@@user-el3fg1gf4f regardless of his club performance, hes been pretty poor this tournament. He wont get droppedthough, and probably shouldnt cos hes one of the best players on earth, but i reckon maybe play him as an 8, put foden at 10 and bring in palmer
Totally agree, he’s obviously top player it’s just not working for him, he looks tired unsurprisingly, he should have been subbed, Southgate to blame in not having the guts to do it.

A lack of trophies with a lot of weight placed on the history of the club. It wil be very interesting to see If he can turn tottenhams fate around. If so… please coach England.
Top class from Ange. Didn’t get drawn into the lineup debate. Great point regarding the clear philosophy and team selection flows from that. Southgate doesn’t have a philosophy. It makes picking the team that much harder. If he, and the set up agree the team should incisive, technical and dominate possession - it makes picking the team that much easier.
palmer mainoo plays the RIGHT way. with trent i feel his brain is always how can i show my long pass prowess to the world and thats not how being a midfielder is about and it cant be your ONLY quality. mainoo keeps it, moves it, and he gets into smart positions. he brings reassurance because he doesnt give the ball away cheaply like trent and gallagher do.
He’s also an attacker, who’s as slow as molasses and he can’t track back and tackle 😅. He’s worse than trent at defending looooooooool, yeah he can keep the ball under pressure, but he’s a bigger liability than trent in midfield, and if ya don’t see it find another sport!
Love to everyone who was at the stadium last night. Witnessing the intensity and duration of that single chant was quite remarkable. For us supporters, sure, we want victories, but we also want memories. Well done, everyone!
I think they should put a real manager as a pundit each match to get back to reality. Nice to have some insight from the punditry rather than the normal drivel.
It's not hard to get them in. You just have to drop some players depending on how you want to play and your opponent. Play either Foden or Jude, either Palmer or Saka, Gallagher or Mainoo, Walker or Trent. Accept that some won't start but be effective as a super sub.
The truth is, Bellingham dropped or next to Declan Rice solves alot of Englands problems tbh (outside of the obvious one which is sack Southgate of course). You can then play Foden or Palmer in the 10, and get some width on the left with someone like Gordon.
Bellingham roams all over the pitch anyway. It won't make a difference if he gets put deeper in formation, but it'll make all the difference for Foden, who just stopped bothering staying tied to the touchline and drifted in centrally anyway.
@@nicbongo how has saka been poor? the team has been poor. phoden has been way worse than saka why doesnt palmer replace him. we'll just play a number 10 on the other wing anyway, why replace our best winger with a number 10? ball retention aswell, this team cant hold onto the ball, saka is a specialist at that.

Mainoo is great but another defensive midfielder isnt the solution. He needs to put bellingham at 8 alongside rice, move foden centrally at 10, gordon on the left and saka/palmer on the right.
England are not taking advantage of their high pressing ballers, Saka left back, guehi, stones walker Rice mainoo foden Gordon Bellingham palmer Kane is currently the biggest limitation on this team as he does not lead the high press effectively for the teams benefit. Would be better off as an impact player in 2nd half, perhaps with watkins or toney to change the game it we are trailing or its going to extra time/pens😊
The solution to England is very simple just that Southgate does not have the balls. Drop Bellingham and play Foden there. Palmer to the right and Eze or Godon on the Left. Move TAA on the RB, he overlaps better than Walker and has long range passes too. He can also come in the midfield and play inverted role like Cucurrella did in Chelsea.

Right now he's England's best player alongside Kane. We saw in pre tournament matches him and Kane have a great connection.
