The newest version of Wi-Fi (version 6E) allows for higher capacity and bandwidth with the opening of 6GHz frequency spectrum, but with version 7 likely to occur next year, companies might decide to wait. Keith talks with IDC analyst Brandon Butler about the pros and cons of the latest wireless LAN standards.

We’re literally right on the cusp of Wi-Fi 7, I would just wait. Seriously it’s only a matter of a few months.

If nothing is literally being rolled out at this very minute then I would wait.

For businesses sure go for it but for homeowner's that usually don't want or need anything faster than 1 Gig internet service, than 6E is perfect. I get 850-950 Mbps consistently using my 3 unit TP Link mesh 6E system. This is on 5GHz and 6GHz bandwidth, plus having 2.4 Ghz is necessary for smart lights and outlets

The utility of 6Ghz on WiFi 6E is pretty limited as far as I can tell... unless someone knows they will definitely benefit from it, they probably *should* wait until WiFi 7. Any current roll-outs could save money by using WiFi 6 instead of 6E if they truly can't wait any longer. (This is especially true given that very few client devices even support 6Ghz right now... ). So if you can't wait any longer, it makes sense to focus on what you need now and save money. If you want to be more "future proof", wait for WiFi 7 which is a much more transformational change.

Shouldn't we look more closer and thoroughly into 'the health effect on human' by wifi, i wonder.

Sir if you want the best online gaming experience you should never play games over wifi anyway. Gaming on wifi should be your very last resort when you’ve exhausted all other attempts/ resources to try and connect your gaming console PS5 via a wired Ethernet connection. How can you be an expert on everything networking and not know that one simple fact that a wired connection to the internet is always better than using wifi, especially when it comes to gaming online. 🧐

Thanks for the comment, and certainly in the earlier versions of Wi-Fi, having a wired Ethernet connection for your PC or gaming console was preferred, but in most online gaming cases the bottleneck for network traffic is at the modem or broadband connection, not the internal LAN. If you have good broadband speeds, you probably won't notice as much lag as you would in previous years with many of today's modern online games. To be honest, I'm also not a hardcore gamer where I'm really measuring lag and latency and other such stats; if you find me in Fortnite or other games I'm not going to be winning many trophies.

@@IDGTECHtalk What matters is latency not throughput. Go with fiber wherever you can, stay away from cable.

@@IDGTECHtalk 100%. Ping rates/latency is so much better on ethernet vs WiFi 6, even though I can get 800+ Mbps on Wifi.

For personal WiFi networks. Seriously I got the deco 6e. You can’t assign any IoT devices to the IoT network, the interface is crap. I swear to god it’s 2 trashcans. I had a netgear WiFi 1.0 router that had more interface configurations than these POs combined. Setting up a vpn is easier on a Cisco 2800 router and more stable than these things. Stay away from deco. They tried to make the interface user friendly but it’s not.
