Pedey was literally my favorite player from when I started watching professional baseball, and I will always love him. I have family that is cousins with him too. But he's not gonna get into the HOF unless he gets some type of special treatment. Thanks for all the memories Dustin, my favorite second baseman of all time!

Pedroia was a great ball player. His tenacity made him that ball player where others had size and speed, he did it with his mind and ability to overcome his disadvantages. You can’t just use stats to assess his career. That would not be completely fair to such an outstanding player

fun topic to kick around. Mauer changes expectations IMO

No it doesn't, how many catchers win an MVP? Bench, campanella, mauer I think pudge won one in 99. That's all I can think of. Oh, yogi. Pedroia is very good but like David Wright or Mattingly they didn't play long enough. There's not a ton of second baseman in the hall of fame so that may help. Morgan, biggio, sandberg, all I can think of off the top of my head.

Mauer does, but I think it was a mistake to elect him in. Especially on the 1st ballot.

Im a sox fan and admired the hell out of the way he played the game But taking bias out of it I vote NO If injuries didn't get in the way, who knows. The .299 career batting average is so unfortunate. 1 percentage point makes it look so much more solid There are exceptions like if he were one of the greats of his era but im not certain that would be a factor here. Lots of greats from 2007- 2016

He's a Red Sox Hall of Famer, most definitely. But he really only played 11 seasons; you can't convince me an 11 yr career is worthy of the MLB Hall of Fame.

I love Pedroia he's one of my favorites (fuck Machado), I hope he just keeps getting enough votes to stay on the ballot for a few years. I'm rooting for Pedroia because Machado is a hall of famer unless he hopefully has a career ending injury and I would hate to see Machado get in after ruining Pedroia's chances.

Yes, 100% in my mind. You might ask me why. So here's my answer. People keep comparing him across the internet with Ian Kinsler, Chase Utley and Jeff Kent. But here's the thing, they are mostly only looking at their power. Sure Kent hit 377 Career HR's, Kinsler hit 257 HR's and Utley hit 259 all compared to Pedroia's 140. But here is where Pedroia outshines them. Pedroia had the highest average among all of them. With a .299 as opposed to Kent's .290, Utley's .275 and Kinsler's .269. As well, Pedroia had a better OBP than all three of those guys with .365. As opposed to Utley's .358 Kent's .356 and Kinsler's .337. Now let's look at awards. Pedroia has 2 World Series rings. Kinsler and Utley only have one each, Kent never won one. Pedroia had Rookie of the Year. None of the others did. Pedroia has a regular season MVP. Only Kent of these other 3 guys also has a regular season MVP. Pedroia won 4 Gold Gloves. Kinsler won 2 and neither Utley nor Kent ever won 1. On top of this, Pedroia was also voted Defensive Player of The Year in all of MLB. Kinsler was the only other to receive Defensive player of the Year among these 4. Now as far as offensive awards, Utley has 4 Silver Sluggers, as does Kent. Pedroia never achieved one as power wasn't his strong suit. And now for All Star appearances. Yes, Pedroia only has 4. But Kinsler also only had 4. While Kent had 5 and Utley had 6. But if Baseball is a sport where All Star appearances guaranteed you a spot in the hall of fame. Steve Garvey should have been a shoe in with 10 (I know he was 1B, this was just an example). Here's something to think about. Avg and defense are just as important for baseball players. If not more important for 2nd base in general. When looking at a hall of fame case. Joe Morgan, one of the greatest of all time at 2nd Basemen. Had 2 World Series and 2 MVPs. Similar to Pedroia with the exception of 1 more MVP. But he only had a .271 avg as opposed to Pedroia's .299. As well as 5 Gold Gloves, similar to Pedroia's 4. Another example is Pedroia compared to Biggio. They each have 4 GG's. But Pedroia had a .299 career avg to Biggio's .281. And even then, Pedroia has 2 World Series rings and an MVP. Biggio doesn't have either- A World Series rings or an MVP. In wrapping this up. I just want to say, I don't think the internet is giving Pedroia a fair shot. If Power stats were everything. Then Ichiro shouldn't even be in the mix let alone "A first ballot hall of famer" next year. Where in Right Field, arguably it's one of the top Power hitting positions in MLB history. With guys like but not limited to--- Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Dave Winfield, Vladimir Guerrero, etc. So yes, in summary. Pedroia may not run the board like some obvious guys such as Hank Aaron, Honus Wagner or Greg Maddux. But to be honest if you told me. That I could have a career almost .300 avg 2nd Baseman (Which in all honesty, is one of the highest of all time. You'll only find a handful of guys higher. And not only that, but was renowned as a great glove. (Best Overall Defensive Player with multiple GG's says something.) And he would be a career player for my team. Then yes, I would not just love to have him on my team. But it seems fairly obvious that he is a hall of famer, imo.
