Foden is out to prove he is better than Jude. You can tell he is jealous and envy. He is a better player than he is but letting pride get in the way.He needs to be a team player and recognise Jude is the better player
Thank you. Dude have ghosted every single game he has ever played for England. No matter where he has played. So far, he has shown himself to be a Pep system player. Gordon should have in for him from the start.
Did you not watch the Round of 16 and round of 8 matches at the wc ? The second group stage game literally last week? He’s their best creative midfielder just playing out of position
@@Noirloreagreed that he played well at the World Cup but calling him a "creative midfielder" is totally the wrong label for him, it's why he can only play far up the pitch he shouldn't be part of the buildup play
Why is Saka the one to give way? He has created 2 of England's goals. He showed up in euro 2020 and WC 2022. He has also been one of England better performers this tournament - which isn't saying much. Foden has been poor every single time he has played for England. No matter where he has played.
It doesn't matter what Saka, Kane or anyone has done prior, it is all about what the team needs right now. Having said that agreed Foden hasn't played well, primarily he isn't in the right position, but this is a squad game, so the starting 11 isn't the same that should finish the game. Bringing a fresh Saka on with 35 mins to go could be really exciting too. Different ways to look at the game. Southgate won't do it though 😅
@@TheFabo48who hasnt been poor? An assist is an assist deflection or not. The defence doesnt get the ball yo to the wingers fast enough 13:52 so by the time they get it they have 2 men on them. If this doesn't change it wont matter who they play where
@@Cropsy-yy9wgNone of them have done much besides Saka’s assist, but Foden has been ineffective on the left. It's not his fault cause of the coach. Hence, by default, that makes Saka better. Honestly, none of them have been great
The fact you say he has done zero, given playing in the wrong position as well, tells me you haven’t watched the matches in full. It’s a cluster of players not knowing what to do next
They said b 4 the tournament, that the PL player of the year was going to carry England to the Euros title. Now that he has contributed nothing, it's because he is playing out of position 😁😁😁😁😁😁.
Understand what you are saying as Saka has been consistently good for Eng and had outstanding games before.....but really needs to step it up this tourney and young guys like Palmer, Gordon, Eze are forming a noisy queue (same with Foden btw)
Folden hasn’t taken any player on one on one since the tournament begins, he has been so poor in the tournament whereas Saka has been decent compared to all the forwards apart from Bellingham I have seen Saka glide past players in the same tournament and they keep talking about benching him….
@BirdLives7 he cuts inside because on the right wing, he naturally cuts to his stronger foot(left). On the left wouldn't he naturally cut on the outside? And even if I'm to believe your flawed logic, what's wrong with cutting on the inside from the right, when you have a natural winger hugging the touch line in front of him?
On current performances the answer is YES. Foden should be at least rested for the next game and one of the youngsters should be given a chance. They could hardly be any worse.
@@Noirlorebro how do you play a 10 and a false 9?! A false 9 is a slightly advanced 10. When you have a false 9, you can’t have a 10. Plus Jude isn’t a false 9 he played there maybe one game vs City. Most of the time he’s just roaming around and linking up plays. And suddenly popping up like Thomas Müller outta nowhere
ESPN's Foden obsession is really bizarre. What's he done apart from be offside twice for no reason? Saka hasn't been at his best, nobody has for England, but at least he understands his position and got an assist. That's more than Foden can say unfortunately.
Perfect. I will go for a 433 with foden and bellingham as the advanced mFs while rice sits back. The rest is same as yours. If Rice can provide those swift line breaking passes, England can compete with the best. Spain's players are not far better than England's. The difference is Rodri and those press resistant passes he gives. That guy has the positions of all his team mates in his head. If Rice can do that, the English team will be unstoppable
Why is Saka the one to give way? He has created 2 of England's goals. He showed up in euro 2020 and WC 2022. He has also been one of England better performers this tournament - which isn't saying much. Foden has been poor every single time he has played for England. Every time.
Enough trying to put Foden there as if it’s gonna change. He’s been playing there he was given too much freedom. Enough. He’s just having a bad tournament. Should stick to the sides and practice crossing it to the box
Mario, you say the ref as a neutral guy but it seems Pulisic suggested he was corrupt and should celebrate with the Uruguayans...that'sunacceptable and if true not only a reason for the ref not to shake but a reason for Pulisic to get a decent ban. Refs have a tough job with little thanks or money.
Uruguay is a better team than the USA but good lord that ref was beyond atrocious. He def needs to be looked at and never ref a big game again. Berhalter also needs to go. Give Zidane or Klopp a blank check!
Deep down I would love Saka to be on a beach somewhere resting with a Margarita. But the level of disrespect he’s shown is astounding. Who has been worse and deserves to be dropped between Foden, Saka and Kane? BE HONEST.
Stop being so sensitive, Saka is not being dissed. I love the kid, but this is a team game and he, Kane and a few others have been below their high standards. In this case the question is about team balance and whether an ineffective Foden can be woken up by replacing Saka on one side Gordon on the other. It may be a good formation to start with. But what might be effective and exciting to watch too is bringing on a fresh legged Saka to shake things up as we know only he can.
@@Lioness_UTV I agree with this view. Saka has been exhausted all season and Palmer starting on the RW isn’t the worst idea. Even though Palmer is best as an interior player. In my opinion the team has a lot more serious issues. So let’s triage. Foden isn’t a LW. Gordon is more direct. Bring him in. Rice needs a proper ball progressing partner. Bring in Wharton. Kane unfortunately hasn’t performed. Needs to stop dropping so deep and stepping on Bellingham’s boots.
Dan saying that refs are justified in not shaking the hand of a teams captain because he said that the ref was biased and unprofessional proves the players point that the ref is biased and unprofessional.
Foden has bee the worst of english players. Just cant do same thing for england as he does for man city. Reminds me of former golden genratiins( excellent for clubs, poor for england)
Nobody can doubt that Phil Foden is a fantastic player but if playing him in the current system does not benefit but hinders then the manager must do what is right for the team.
What a stupid statement. If Foden knew how to stay onside Saka would have one goal and would have initiated another. Even as badly as England have been, Saka has at least completed his passes and tried to provide width. It's not his fault they can't get the ball past midfield. Palmer gives the ball away every chance he gets, he's tried two or three lame crosses to nobody and his one shot (which was pretty open, btw), he gently rolled to the keeper. If Saka were to be replaced Bowen would be the best option. Put Foden in the 10 and bring Bellingham off the bench since he doesn't really contribute anything till the last second anyway. Everyone keeps trying to solve the England problem by replacing this player or that player up front but the problem is that the middle is too congested and there's no penetration into the box or width on the left side. Put Gordon on the left and play a passer in the 8 or 10 instead of Jude who just wants to fall over till the last shot of the game and the problem(s) will fix themselves.
Southgate should replace Phil Foden but he won't. Unless one of the starting eleven get injured Southgate is going to be loyal and stick with the same team. Southgate thinks if it isn't broken don't fix it. Really if you look at the last four games Foden, Bellingham and Kane should all start on the bench. There may an argument for Bellingham as he has provided two goals but, in my opinion, England looked better when other players came on.
I have to shake my head. Bellingham has done some dirty work tackling and covering space and scored 2 great goals. Foden has done very little. Foden doesn't even tackle for gods sake. Have Bellingham no. 10 , Palmer to start on the right and saka left. Later on you have options. A fresh foden, which btw happened a lot at city a fresh foden comes on as sub and scores 2 or 3 when the main work is done, that is him at city.
England are sleepwalking to elimination. They woke up finally, but briefly to fluke the last game, but then hit the snooze button again. Southgate isn't going to make the drastic changes required....a back three, Saka and TAA as wing backs, Bellingham a false 9, Gordon and Palmer up front wide, so drop the unfit, out of form, un-droppable Kane.
YES! You can't play someone on the left wing who doesn't want to provide width at all, it allows the opponent to stay compact because they don't have to worry about 30% of the pitch.
Only in England can the PL best player be played out of position and then criticized for not being at his best. Imagine dropping Foden and it not even being a consideration you could just change the formation.
Lmao. You people are hilarious. Who cares if he is the PL player of the year. He doesn't even play his "natural position" with City 😁😁😁😁😁😁. Playing out of position, doesn't cause a "world class" player, to lose the ball and can't make a decent pass. He is horrible for England plain and simple. Stop making excuses for his ineptness 🤦♀.
Frank is being very humble, he was in fact a fantastic player. Whenever Laurent Blanc, Turham or Desailly missed a game we wondered if the only difference wasn't only the fact that Frank was a little bit of a hot head (anger and cards) lol, although not as hot as Cantona or Ginola. Outrage and anger are just French things and that does help them lead great causes or revolutions. Frank tu nous donnais beaucoup d'ennuis a Paris quand tu jouais a Marselle et a Strasbourg 😃
Kane, Gordon, Foden, Palmer, Rice, Bellingham. But the England camp are determined to centre everything around Jude and make him the star, to the detriment of others and thus the team. And if Kane keeps dropping back, get in Toney or Watkins!
If you put Foden at RW you can still have Saka at LW. Di María is a left footed winger and Scaloni used him brilliantly at LW. Di María and Saka are similar in that they like to stay wide a lot
Craig is totally correct: the US team is always overhyped, when in fact they have a mediocre talent level when compared to the top teams. They have two players on Champions League teams; the remainder are on European teams that are decent. Things really haven't changed: the US can push around CONCACAF teams, but isn't good enough for the Top 20 teams from Europe and South America. Until the US somehow increases the youth talent pool, things won't change. Our best young athletes still pick football and basketball over soccer. There is very little opportunity for inner city youth to get development in soccer skills.
People need to catch up & realise that Foden, although talented, is MASSIVELY inconsistent & has been since he first appeared. It's in his DNA to be this way! All this "hoping to get the best out of him" will prove to be suicidal in a minute. The guy is a luxury player & that's it. Bench him like you did Trent. Not his fault, blame it on English tax. Unrealistic expectations have been put on his shoulders. However, we can't keep clinging onto sentiment.....he came off against Slovakia & what d'ya know, we win the game lol.
Whatever he is doing, he should not start Trippier and Foden on the left. it actually paralyzed one part of the field for England and it is obviously not working. I think Shaw and Gordon should start that in that side or Maybe even Joe Gomez if Shaw is not fit. Saka was much better than Trippier when he moved to LB. it is so weird why Southgate did not take any fit LB when he knew Shaw is injured and there is no other LB in the team. There were many options like Mitchell, Colwill, Rico Lewis who are all better LB than Trippier.
US soccer is rubbish , my son played for a primer league in south California and was the best u15/16 team here chivas usa and not one player was selected to play for the USA team. He had a look from the tj team and 15 , he’s a great player 5’11 attacking midfielder runs a 4.3 too a great player and defender too .
Foden is done for this Euro. He should be used as number 10 for the easier group matches where can perform better with Bellingham on the bench. Now comes the proper opponent and it will have to be Bellingham as 10. He performance in BIG matches are way better than Foden. If Foden continues to play left, England left side will be targeted and he will do more defend than attack which he is useless defending.
I don't like when. Dan hosts, he answers the questions and takes part in the same way the panelists do and no offense to Dan because I like him but I don't care about his opinion. I want the ex-pro's opinion not a TV guy opinion. Like I said I do like Dan but I just wish he would not answer the questions and stick to asking them
2:30 I’m glad someone pointed that out. The ref letting play on while in the middle of giving a yellow card was the perfect symbol of the tournaments reffing. Abs comedy lol. Only the final was reffed well from what I saw
I'm with Craig about leaving Saka out. While some areas of his game have improved, he doesn't seem to have that great of chemistry with Kane. He's no Son. The offense sputters when the ball is on his side.
Yes, he should be dropped for Gordon. Not his fault. They just can't get the best out of him. He's not having any impact. For the good of the team, just give someone else a chance to have an impact.
Bringing Ivon Tony in 93 minutes shows how clueless and conservative Southgate is !. He is like a person who still stays in a car with a seatbelt fasten even when the car is falling of a Cliff.
Concerning the US, a country where football is called soccer and handball football doesn't get the point, and will always fall short. After all, to start and end with, football is amply mental.
Final England-Germany. Since 1976 Germany loses every 4th euro final. They will become 3rd team in row to lose on home turf. Denmark in 1992 won their first euro after beating Netherlands in semis, same with Czech in 1976 - And England will beat Netherlands in semis. Switzerland never ever been in a semifinal either
