Looking at an SE FWD (live in California - don't need AWD). You're right about availability - there's a good number of them at NorCal dealers and they generally aren't trying to mark these up like a Honda or Toyota dealers do. I figure with that proven engine and Japanese built 8-speed transmission it should be pretty good for quite a long time. I also like the MPG the FWD models get - 28 city, 36 highway. That's almost as good as some compact sedans.
Awesome video guys! Been watching reviews left and right and yours is one of the best! You guys are the only ones that mention the maintenance on this type of transmission, which is good to know. I'm planning on leasing one eventually!.
Thank you! We’re happy we were able to help. They are a great option! We did a few long journeys in it and it was a great cruiser-very comfortable. Are you planning on buying one with 4motion?
Great review, thx I purchased one last month with 4Motion and the IQ package. I love how this SUV drives, at first with the DSG transmission one needs to relearn to modulate the pedal when taking off, but If I need to accelerate quick I switch it to S mode and the Taos response really well. It also has some surprising features like launch control this feature will make this vehicle shave one second off from 0-60 getting closer to 6.9 0-60
Yeah it really is surprisingly nimble for the type of vehicle it is. We think it’s a better vehicle than the Tiguan for the money! You’re 100% about modulating the throttle though… definitely takes some getting used to haha
