I have a 69 and 70 Mach 1, and I will say, keep the Coupe, and buy a fastback for the wife. It's a nice looking Coupe, keep it that way, and enjoy it :- ) Just my 2 cents.

Im on the same boat. (You can see my little red 69 coupe in my channel) id love the mach 1, it looks better. It may be the sentimental value i have for it, but i love how it looks now (coupe). Mine has the mach 1 wing. Maybe…maybe if in many many more years i get bored ill convert it. Idc about value since im never getting rid of it and the body and interior are in great great shape not to mention fresh performance rebuilt AOD, brand new suspension, never crashed, no rust etc. It would be very difficult to find a 69 mach 1 in as good a shape for cheap. Its just not worth getting one at this point. Love the video.
The coupe with the rear ducktail of the fastback looks great. You can improve the looks of a coupe a lot with some optiinals such es the honeycomb panel, front lip, hood scoop and graphics. Mine has the sidewinder graphics and all oh the above and , with the proper stance, it just works
This coupe looks a little better than my red 69 coupe, i'm doing the convert, they do look much better (biased 😅) i look forward to seeing it done. I do however want to keep the fixed 3 seat back seat, be interesting to see how you get on. 👍
Great car, I have a 69 coupe very similar. Yours looks like mine prior to my restoration. I contemplated the fastback and still have the itch. Although, everyone that sees my car says it’s absolutely perfect…. So, maybe I’ll still wait and ponder the idea. Great video though!! 🎉
I'm with you man. I like the 69 and 70 coupes better than any other mustang coupe. I dig the style. I have a 69 that is rough. The rear quarters are bad and so is the trunk floor and rear frame rails. I am really considering building a fastback out of it, but am on the fence. I really do like the coupe and you see way more fastback. I mean i like the fastback better, but not by a whole lot.
As much as I like the coupe, and as a driver it's actually better because you can see out of the coupe better, if I had a car that was in serious need of body work, I would probably chop it up and make it a fastback. Good luck!
For the 70, I believe the windshield sizes between fastbsck and coupe are different? That being said how would you go about converting the size of the A pillars in order to fit the windshield of the fastback?
I have a 70 coupe as well, they are the only car in my opinion that still looks good as a coupe...money not being an issue it's gonna be a fastback all day with a stroked and bored 429 Jon Kaase intake and heads 💙🔵💙💪🏼
I hear you. I like my coupe. As a daily driver, the visibility is much better in the coupe than in the fastback. But the fastback is simply alluring. Eye candy at its finest.
67 and 68 Coup are head and shoulders better than the 70 Coup (no contest). No market for the 70 Coup, can be purchased cheap because it's not very popular at all.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the matter. You're right - if popularity is your objective, the 1970 coupe (yes, it's spelled coupe, with an 'e' at the end) is definitely not your thing. For me, I like the 1970 coupe in part because pretty much nobody has one. There are 1967, 68, and 69s everywhere. In fact, there were fewer 1970s produced by Ford than any of those other years. And, oh yeah, I like the look of the 1969 / 70 coupe more than the other coupes. You (and everyone else) are equally entitled to your opinion. Now a question: Can you send a round-house kick through the wall in that "Rex Kwon Do" muscle shirt? I'll bet you can.

I just stumbled across your channel a few episodes ago. If it were me and I had the cash I would definitely go fast back. What i didn’t hear discussed and is my only deterrent from ever doing this is I’ve been told the inside rear quarter trim panels are not reproduced …. Is that a fact?

Fair point. Perhaps a tad over simplistic, but fair. However, Hunter's comment is rather insightful. If a coupe is converted to a fastback using the same metal that Ford would have used, then what's the difference? Other than the VIN, the converted car is the same as the factory car.
@@some-guys-garage the thing that sucks is someday someone ends up with a Frankenstein fastback! I have a 1969 mustang fastback, I built it from 3 cars. 2 of the cars, my parts cars are gone. One I sold with no vin, all removed, another I sold and it came along with a vin for a fastback, that project was for a coupe to fastback conversion and I wonder if it ever happened. The thing is, the hardtop if now much more rare than a fastbacks. I prefer the fastback but at this point it is sad to see every coupe cut up to make a fastback, the coupe is kinda part of history, I don't know...
