@@davidcostello5318 - that's true and the fps boost is really cool, if you have a TV that takes advantage of it. Otherwise, it's not a big selling point as it would require more money than just the box to get what you're paying for if you upgrade.

Really depends on what your looking for. I am coming from a Xbox One og console and am getting a Series S. So a huge jump. I also can’t really justify the extra $200 id spend getting a Series X just for some slightly crisper visuals and potential for better/higher FPS’s. Also something to consider is time vs investment. What I mean is is it worth spending the extra $200 if you’ll barley play it or play it enough to justify the purchase? Ive noticed im not gaming as much, going out more, traveling etc. so spending less but getting a upgrade in many areas is a big win imo.
@BusyDadGaming
@BusyDadGaming 3 года назад
That is a good point with ROI. Coming from an OG Xbox One to the Series S would be a pretty big upgrade. Going the extra to a Series X, in this case, really wouldn't make a ton of sense and would also require an upgraded TV to take full advantage. That's a pretty big investment.

@@ti253799 I don’t think u understand how gpu’s work. The series x has a 12 teraflop gpu. That’s on par and higher in some instances than a high end pc. It can really put out the frames and fidelity. The series s only has a 3 teraflop gpu. It’s barely better than the original Xbox that released 9 years ago. If you want fidelity and frame rate the series x is a no brained tbh. Hello everyone! Just wanted to share my first impressions. I have the Xbox One X and got the Series S two days ago. The GOOD: -Loading times: agree. Faster. No doubt about that! If you have zero patience...buy the Series S. -Quick resume: works -Price: the ratio price/quality is really good. -Transfer your games from One X to Series S: jeez, super easy. Just need to be a bit patient to download your favorite games. The NOT SO GOOD: -If you are looking for a real "wow" effect, I am not convinced the Series S is the right choice. Games look very similar in all honesty. I have not done the test but I am pretty sure I won't be able to make a difference between the One X and the Series S if you hide them from me (obviously, I am not talking about loading times right, I mean when the games are running). I believe the main issue is that we do not have games yet that really use the full potential of the Series S as of yet. I do not have the "next gen" feeling. I am in my 40s now and I remember that back in the days, moving from one gen to the other was...well...really impressive (from NES to SNES was super impressive, then when we moved to the first Playstation, we were all super impressed). Current generation of games are still very much "cross gen". I have two kids who both prefer single player games. Therefore having a second console for a reasonable price was a good idea. None of them are fighting to play on the Series S. They don't care. They are both playing Far Cry 6 and they don't see the difference. I don't see the difference either. Maybe if both screens were next to each other I would. Maybe a bit smoother because of the higher FPS but again, the One X still does a good job. So long story short: I believe that if you own a One X, it is not a must at all to move to the Series S for the time being. If you are looking for a second console for a reasonable price: yes! Games are available on both systems so no need to buy new games! I am very impressed with what Microsoft has done on that one. The Game Pass system is also a good price for value thing. Conclusion: If loading times on your One X is not a problem and if you are looking for the "wow" effect, I would not buy. Buying it to have a second console at home (whatever the reason): yes. This is it! Hope it helps a bit :)
@BusyDadGaming
@BusyDadGaming 2 года назад
Thanks for adding your opinions, greatly appreciated! I agree, the Series S doesn't give that "wow" factor unless you're coming from older hardware. For example, if you're on an OG Xbox One or the One S, the upgrade will be very noticeable. If you have a One X, totally agree. If there's a game you really want that is a Series only game, then the Series S will get you into the current gen. Otherwise, hold out and wait for a Series X to be more available.

@Top Noodle - I love tech, which is why I have all of the new consoles and one of the better GPUs. I do have to convince myself on the PS5 so far since I have only really played it for Ratchet & Clank. Great game, but a bit short for the cost. The Series S looks great on most TV's and/or Monitors. The key is how far away are you sitting from the screen. 4k TVs you won't really notice resolution until you're around 6 to 8 feet away from the TV. The average length is generally 3 to 5 feet so most wouldn't notice the difference between 1080p, 1440p, and 4k at that distance. Framerate is a totally different thing. I just upgraded the HDD on my Xbox One X to SDD, so now it tops the Series S overall, and saved me having to spend $500 on a Series X that my current 4K tv can't even make the most use of as it is an older 4K model. Unless you have a really good modern 4K/8K TV, the Series X doesn't make sense to get even in 2023. Is this going to be the trend for future generations? When a high end console comes out, wait 4-5 years until the price comes down before buying it, when games will be actually written to test the high end hardware, and at a time when you are finally reaady to upgrade on your current TV? I told people a few years ago to wait at least 2 years before buying a PS5 or Xbos Series X, but now I would say wait 4-5 years.

For sure, the PS4 Pro to the PS5 is a good upgrade, but most people can wait. Outside of faster loading and some games supporting higher frame rates, there isn't that game that is a must have for the PS5 yet. At least, in my opinion.

Actually really appreciate your straightforward answer to this. So many are preaching about the series s. I’ll don’t have a 120 tv, but the 30-60fps on certain titles for me is fine, especially when a lot of older games (even on game pass), aren’t even optimised for the series s, so I’d be losing so many one x enhanced titles. It’s ridiculous at the series x is gone nearly everywhere

Excellent videos, you gained a new subscriber. After almost coming close to picking up a One X many times since 2017 I held off and actually ended up skipping the whole Xbox One generation so I went from a 360 to a series X so it was a big change and if I had got a One X I’d probably still would not have picked up a Series X or S yet. I picked up a new tv back on super bowl Saturday and made sure it had 4K120/Freesync ect so I’m good to go, although I’m still trying to get a PS5. Also my last physical media game was Mafia 3 and it’s been all digital ever since.

Well I upgraded to the Series S from the One X and the biggest reason for that is Series X is no where on store shelves. Actually it was by luck that I even found the Series S sitting on a Walmart shelf. I don't own a 4K display either although I do have some physical discs from Xbox One but I am cool with going digital only and I have a decent digital library too from Xbox One. I may eventually upgrade to Series X once they become more available but that will depend on how well games run on the Series S in the future. I have my doubts that it can run next gen games with next gen frame rates but we will see. I do prefer Series S smaller form factor though.

Makes sense. If you don't have a 4k TV, a Series X wouldn't make a ton of sense at this point yet anyway. For the Series S, taking Flight Sim as an example, will probably see more cloud based services bolster performance. This will rely on Devs taking advantage of that, but I'm curious to see how many other Devs do that.

For me personally the only thing stopping me from getting it as a new console compared to a Xbox One X it's because it can do 4k and on top of that the disc drive for some of my older games is needed as well plus you can upgrade the Xbox One X with a ssd you can also even add a better thermal paste and fan speed mod!

GTA V's graphics, based on the trailer they released, isn't going to be a big leap. Where the One X will struggle is with framerate. It'll most likely lock at 30fps. I stayed with my One X. I have disc-based games I can't get digitally (Transformers Devastation, for one), and it works a lot better with a speed boost. I tore the whole thing down, replaced the thermal paste (Noctua), thermal pads (3mm Thermal Grizzly), and replaced the HDD with a 1TB SSD. Bought a SATA to USB adapter to try a wiped SSD as external storage just to see. (Even over USB, the speed boost was shocking.) Load times are ridiculously better, frames went up, heat went down, and the overall experience is surprising. No. I don't have ray tracing, but it's whisper quiet, stupid fast, and hits the 4k/60/1080p/120 like crazy. Why they didn't give us SSD from the get-go is beyond me. Was it a lot of work? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to revitalize a very good, reliable system, even in this day and age.

For those that aren't versed enough to tear the system down and replace the SSD and thermals, getting a USB SSD would be the ideal route. At that point, the drive wouldn't be the bottleneck for the system and it would be the RAM (memory wise).

I did a quick look up of that TV and it does offer up to 120hz up to 1440p so you could go with a Series S and get higher framerates. Resolution wise, it depends. If you're going for higher framerates, you will see a reduction in resolution to compensate for it. The One X looks better resolution wise, but will typically stick to the 4k/30 range. Personally, I noticed a huge difference when I went from 30fps to 120fps (on games that support it). Even the jump from 30 to 60 is very noticeable. Just depends on what you value more, resolution or framerate.

Raytracing is probably the most readily available, but not a ton of games are taking advantage of the velocity aspect yet and extremely few games are using FSR. I do experience packet loss and latency drops on the one x currently on br . Any advice would be very welcome. Many thanks in advance
@BusyDadGaming
@BusyDadGaming 2 года назад
Well, it depends. A few questions you'll want to keep in mind. One question, does your monitor have HDMI 2.1? Not all monitors are HDMI 2.1 that are higher refresh rates (Display Ports aren't compatible for consoles). Second, what's your budget? And lastly, does your monitor have VRR? The Series S can help with the frame rates and will most likely hit the 1440p range, up to 120hz. Latency and packet loss with Warzone isn't something new. With EBMM enabled on COD, a lot of people's ping are over 100, so that's something to keep in mind. To limit that, hardwiring your internet via ethernet into the console would be the best option. If you have to use WI-FI, then use a mesh network so you don't have any dead zones. Also make sure your internet is decent internet. I would suggest at least 100Mb/s download and 10Mb/s upload. One side note on the One X, the processor on the console can cause issues due to the CPU (due to the open world and the amount of players). You would see a difference with the Series S in terms of frame rate, but I'm not sure how it will fare when the new Warzone map comes out with Vanguard. I personally would go with the Series X with all things being equal. The Series S will do great, but I'm not sure how the new Warzone map will perform.

@@Tbag77777 First, let me say, the 1X is a fine console. As I mentioned I still have and use mine. But let me say this about the SS. No doubt you have heard reviewers talk about the SS being a low resolution budget console. I strongly disagree. Is it a bargain? Yes! No doubt of that. I have the SS connected to a 70” 4K Dolby Vision TV and from a regular viewing distance can’t tell the difference from what I see on the 1X 'native' 4K and the upscale 4K of the SS! Since, like me, your TV is 60HZ, the SS is perfect! I thought about getting the SX but looking at the specs realised it would be a waste. The SX is for high end monitors and TVs. I’m not saying the SX won’t work or play well, but you’ll not get the full benefit of what it can do unless you upgrade your TV to a 120HZ or higher set. My 60HZ works perfectly with the SS. I play Halo (all of the games), Forza 6/7 & Horizon 4, MSFS, Doom Eternal and they all look just as good as the 1X. Except MSFS which won’t play on the 1X. The SS handles them all. Would the SX be better? Sitting about 12 feet from the screen (70”) I doubt it. The human eye can only do so much. Remember, the SX was built to give the high end PC rigs a run for their money and it does! The SS was built for those of us who want to play games that look good but not have to pay through the nose to do it on the TVs we already have. The SS is a great and powerful system that surpasses the 1X.

Hey man, I've got an Xbox one X and I'm thinking of replacing the hard drive with an SSD for faster loading times just like the series S. Also, I've got lots of physical games and if I buy the series S they'll be useless. So is it really worth that upgrade? I don't like how you won't own the games on Series S and how much you'll have to pay every month for the game pass in XSS.

In that instance, I'd probably just use an external SSD (unless you're really comfy replacing the HDD in the 1X). Then wait for the Series X to be a bit easier to get. Next year you'll start to see Series only games coming, but 2023 is when you'll really need to start looking at a Series console unless one of those Series specific games next year is a must have for you.

My OneX crapped out on me this summer so I went for the Series S as I could get it delivered that same day (UK) an I was considering making the jump already. I actually would thoroughly recommend the Series S over the OneX unless you have lots of physical games you want to play. The loading times are so much quicker, the CPU is so much stronger that I would never go back to the OneX. The leap in performance from 30FPS to 60FPS is truly transformative, and I'm really not all that bothered about resolution as I game in the living room, so 1080p is fine by me! I think the distinction between Series S and One X will become much clearer once we get to the true next gen phase. I think most games that have launched in the last 12 months are improving the visuals just through brute force on the GPU side, and not really utilising many of the next gen features in the hardware.
@BusyDadGaming
@BusyDadGaming 2 года назад
For most people, they may still have a 1080p panel so a Series S is an easy answer. The great thing is you can upgrade as you go with the TV, the console, and go at your own pace. I agree that most are seeing the graphical improvements, but coming at this from the PC side of things, going from 30, to 60, to 120 hz gaming, it's hard to go back. I'll happily take a lower resolution to get higher framerates in most games (not all, there are times I want pure fidelity).

"Once we get into the true next gen phase" *Is already a year and some change into the current generations lifecycle with the Series S Pro projected to hit late 2022 and the Series X pro potentially around late 2023.* Let's face it, at this point we're already midway into the 'true next gen phase' and it doesn't feel like we're in it. The hardware is better but the libraries are essentially the same atm and the graphics are visually comparable to each other even if the Series S loads faster.

The Series S can upscale to 4K@60 and that combined with 4K upscaling of the TV, it really is hard to tell from native 4K. MSFS looks great as well as Halo (all the versions) and Forza (all versions). You expect the Series X to be great but I think the real unsung hero of the next gen contest is in fact the Series S. MS packed a lot of power into such a small, some would say tiny, box. I’m still amazed at how small it is compared to what I'm seeing on a 70” screen! And for $300!!! Quite the deal!

@@BusyDadGaming True. I took a 4 tiered approach. The first is, of course, internal. Second, I bought the Expansion Card which is for X/S games only. Third, I bought the Seagate Barracuda 1TB SSD. It’s for Halo/Forza games that don’t need to be internal/EC to play but which I want to load fast! The fourth, is the Seagate 8TB HDD Hub, which is for the rest of my legacy games. Total storage comes to 10.5TBs of which I lose a little due to formatting. I probably could’ve skipped the SSD because the HDD also loads pretty fast! Live and learn. Nonetheless, this setup allows for plenty of storage and, while a bit expensive, really makes the SS worthwhile. Now, for the SX naysayers, yes, the SX has more initial storage. It does. You also suggested people may not have TVs that the Series S can push at high frame rates, but surely more people have a TV that goes to 60 Hz (which is what most Series S titles aim for) than a 4K TV. Add in Quick Resume and fast load times and it was a no-brainer upgrade.

@@BusyDadGaming Agreed that the upgrade wouldn't be worth it for everyone over a One X! I just wanted to address those couple of points, in a video I otherwise think was on target. :) I actually got the Series S in part because it was available (and PS5 and Series X was not). But having had it for a while, it's proven to be a happy accident. I now wouldn't pay the extra for a Series X. I have a TV that can do 4K or 120 FPS, but not both at the same time, so I'd have to choose one or the other if I got a Series X anyway. And since a growing number of games can do 120 FPS on the Series S (and I value frames over resolution), and it's a much cheaper upgrade, and I was able to get it 11 months earlier (and counting!), and I don't care about the size of the internal storage since I was going to buy the 1TB expansion card no matter which one I went with, and it's much smaller and more appropriate for the area I'm using it in than a Series X or the PS5, it's actually now my preferred option anyway. :)

When it comes to older games, you'll actually get better overall performance on the Series S. That's primarily because of the frame rate increases that some games support. However, when it comes to resolution and fidelity, the One X will win that one over due to it's more powerful GPU. The One X will be limited to 30 in most cases, and won't really be able to hit 60fps in most cases. The Series S will be able to do that more often so me personally, I would go with the Series S at this point.

We'll see that more next year, but I bet we start to see what is coming for next year that will really start to shift that cross-gen era. I'm really looking forward to seeing what developers can do with the new tech at their fingertips.

Nah there are no exclusives MS (good ones) are just putting out for the S/X or 3rd party titles, if so just get them on the Pro which has support until like 2024, the One X does too, MS just want to sell consoles to try and beat Sony. Nah. lol

You'll have access to the game as long as you are subscribed. Once your subscription lapses, you'll lose access to the game.

I have a One X and I seriously want to play Flight Simulator when it comes out Tuesday, I've been waiting since the PC launch last year for it to come to xbox and I've looking for a Series X for a whole month in the UK and had no luck, might just take a punt on the Series S for now as its almost available everywhere
@BusyDadGaming

Really depends there. If you have another room you can put it in later or trade it in for a Series X are a couple of the ways. Series X may become a bit available later in the year, but that's still a guess at this point.

Graphical performance, the PS4 Pro is more in line with the Xbox One X and not the Series S.

@BusyDadGaming

Yeah, if you have a lot of physical games, the Series S doesn't make a ton of sense. The only caveat would be a game that is an only Series game (or features).

Lol, agreed. Cross-gen games are going to be less and less starting next year, so it'll be interesting. I feel that cloud streaming may try to make up for some of that in the interim.

Please help. I have an Xbox one from 2014. Original Xbox one. Looking to buy either the Series S or One X today 11/19/21. Price isn't a big deal but I ultimately will be buying a series X in a year or so. My question is on my 55" 4k TV, will I be happier with the Graphics on one or the other? Series s or One X? Not so much worried about load times.
@BusyDadGaming
@BusyDadGaming 2 года назад
Personally, I would go with a Series S (unless you were able to snag a Series X). The One X is selling for $300 to $400 used right now (not a great deal). You're already thinking of going with a Series X so getting into the current gen and then taking everything with you when you go with the Series X would make more sense. The Series S looks great on my Sony and TCL 4K TVs.

I have a One X even though I don’t have a 4K tv, as I found a good deal on one at the time. Due to this should I still consider a Series S, as I can’t make use of the 4K graphics in the Series X?
@BusyDadGaming
@BusyDadGaming 3 года назад
Series S would make more sense, but the challenge there is the higher refresh rates, you probably wouldn't be able to take advantage of them. Do you have any physical media or plan to keep the One X?
@wescoastkid
@wescoastkid 2 года назад
Most plasma TV's support 60Hz refresh rate. Even my 12 year old Samsung supports 60Hz. Check your TV specs, if it's 60Hz. It will be able to take advantage of the next-gen 60FPS performance. Only hardcore gamers need expensive TVs with HDMI 2.1 @120Hz.
@Halo9K
@Halo9K 2 года назад
Agreed, the SS upscales 4K@60FPS and does it extremely well. How well? I can’t tell the difference between my native 4K 1X and the SS! Yes, THAT good! Combined with extremely fast load times makes the SS a winner! Most 4K TVs are 60HZ which translates to 60FPS! If your TV falls into that group, the SS is the least expensive console you need.

If you have bad internet, downloading games could take quite a while, along with any updates that may be required. The disc would allow you to at least install the initial version of the game from the disc, but you'd still need to download updates.

Is the difference between One X, and Series X, really worth it? With halo infinite around the corner I was considering it. I'm a bit concerned cuz all my friends who have the new console always CRASH and have many issues that I don't.
@BusyDadGaming
@BusyDadGaming 2 года назад
I feel the difference is a big one between the One X and Series X. I don't have any issues with crashing on the Series X and I use it as my main console. I haven't heard a lot of reports of crashing either. Any idea whaylt they are doing when their consoles crash?
@JattJatt8

@@BusyDadGaming they play wired in internet, we primarily play COD zombies and NHL 21. I'm wondering if it's the games that are unstable, it's gotten so bad we never let anyone with a new Xbox host games because of disconnects. Thanks for the suggestion, I might just grab a series X when infinite releases.
@BusyDadGaming
@BusyDadGaming 2 года назад
@@JattJatt8 - Yeah, I doubt it would be the console in those instances and are related to the game. I had major issues with Black Ops when it launched on the Series X (to the point I couldn't play it until it was patched, a month later). COD still runs into issues on the Series X though, and any platform for that matter.

What about a person who does not own any Xbox before? Would you recommend Serise S? I have PS4, Switch, and budget gaming PC GTX 1050 ti with1080p monitor. Is it worth getting it or wait for Series X to be avaliable?
@BusyDadGaming
@BusyDadGaming 2 года назад
Based on what you have so far, the Series S would probably make the most sense. If you wanted to upgrade to a Series X down the road, that's an option, but the Series S sounds like it would suite you more so than the X.

If you don't have any Xbox consoles, I'd start with the Series S. I wouldn't get a last-gen system at this point unless you got a crazy good deal on it (used a 1X is running $300-$400).
