Should I Grade My Sports Cards? Grading Recommendation Tool. 

I'd say 9 due to off centering

@williammeeks1283 now that you brought this to my attention I made it a priority to rewatch this video and I stand corrected. It definitely shows that it is not centered. Thanks for letting me know about this crucial mistake and I'm sure in future grading I will be better.

Absolutely they have population control. PSA graders with Rich greedy people won’t let their investment decrease due to increased supply. It was the greedy rich people, and the insurance companies that came up with the whole grading idea in the first place. There have been people that collected their whole lives that couldn’t afford to get their cards graded. They ended up selling their cards for pennies on the dollars. and who do you think bought them? Those same rich people. The people that wanted to turn baseball card collections into investments. They needed to get peoples collections cheap and then turn those into a massive fortunes by creating the necessity for cards to be graded and open the grading company. Have the insurance companies agree to insure these collections once graded. Yeah, there’s population control. And I know this because I have nine fairy rich uncles that all work in the insurance industry and all collect either baseball cards, baseball, pennants, coins, etc.

On top of that let’s not forget about the scandal at PSA where they were giving subpar cards grades of 10 because they were their buddies. We still don’t know the full damage that has done to the industry. My bet is these people that got the fake tens, destroyed the cards and collected insurance money. Yeah, that would be my bet. This whole freaking industry is corrupt even from the people that buy the boxes and go through them repackaging them and sticking them on Amazon and eBay some suckers to buy up once they’ve pulled all the good cards out of them.

PSA even authenticated fake autos I’m switching to AGS it’s AI graded so every card is pretty much graded the same

There are many grading companies to choose from. You may find a deal that works for you.

Yeah that's a legit situation to consider. Thats why its best to deal with the highly respected grading companies! If these companies started getting a reputation for this type of thing, I would imagine they would be around very long.

My guess is they will keep your money for their effort.

I think grading ultra modern has gotten to the point that it honestly doesn't matter unless it's a PSA 10 or bgs 9.5. Getting good at inspection prior to submitting should be your number 1 priority. Assuming the card is in PSA 10/bgs 9.5 condition - i would look up the price of similar cards sold in different grades and evaluate if it's worth the risk at all including the time it takes for the card to return. Often, especially early into a product release, I think it's worth selling raw over grading. If it's a card you look to hold for a while, grading can be an excellent way to preserve the condition of the card. Coach Koe

Totally depends on the players... their quality, their situation, their popularity, their HOF and GOAT prospects. Are they HOF? Are you looking to sell soon? It's a SUPER star system... can always grade later. A nice base or insert Mahomes is better than a 1/1 of a junk player. Grading's expensive. You want to grade MVP players, championship guys, probably both... GOAT conversation guys for card grading. Anyone would rather have one Jordan or LeBron rookie than 20 Drexler and 20 James Worthy. You'd definitely rather have one Gretzky RC than dozens of Nick Lidstrom and Messier ones. One single Brady RC is far better than 50 Aikman ones and 50 Terrell Owens. Those are all good HOF players, but it's just how it works... SUPER star system. Learn that. Values reflect this. People who grade rookies, young players aren't too bright. Grading Jason Robertson, Joe Burrow, even Luka, etc is nuts. They've never won anything (team or individually). Hold them and keep watching them. They may prove worthwhile, might not. It's pro sports... HIGH chance of bust or injury. It takes awhile to make HOF career case, and even that "great career" is often not enough to make them highly valuable or liked players. Eli Manning or Dominque Wilkins or Evengi Malkin aren't worth much. Good-not-great means nothing in card values. In any sport, only 5 or 10 guys make HOF every year... and not all of those will have valuable sports cards either. Most pro sport leagues have only about that many guys (10-ish) worth grading who are actively playing. No joke. Don't be that tool with graded slabs of a player who fizzles out or who has not even played yet. Grading costs too much to grade guys not HOF and raw cards not over 100 bucks... it's not worth it. Inspect them and save them (if appearing mint) for possible future grading. It's a SUPER star system... can always grade later.

Its hard to say. You know its not a 9.5 -10 if one of the corners are off. Then you need to consider centering, surface, edges. Hope this helps.

This is only a concern if doing bulk submits through websites, breakers, sports card stores... not really an issue for individual submits with numbered cards. It's not worth their time (the bulk submit place, not the grader company).

I can tell you its not going to help for sure. Surface, corners, edges, centering, should be considered and then the ink pen numbers. Use our site to gauge what the values may be with out the ink. Then make a decision. imo

Anything autographed, I'd send to SGC or BGS. Your grade will go up on the card just by not sending it to PSA. I've sent to PSA, gotten an 8 on an auto, broken it, sent it to BGS, gotten a 9.5 and then sent it in the BGS holder asking for a 10 minimum to PSA and gotten the 10. That's how ridiculous they are.

They are looking! 9.5 Million Sports Cards Were Authenticated and Graded in 2022. How many of those do you think were trimmed and got by the graders ​@TheBargainBoxer ???
