Don’t change your approach. I found you by watching Pan the Organiser who told us about you. I’m in Australia, I have a channel myself and I’ve learnt a few things from you as well mainly on product promotion and also telling the truth about detailing. Keep it up…. You are doing a great job. As for ads I agree what you say, maybe stop dropping links and see what happens.

In the Marine Corps one of our credos is “adapt and overcome”. However if you’ve reached a point of diminishing returns then it may be time for a change. I’ve always enjoyed your no nonsense approach to detailing. I bought my first SPTA cordless DA because of you and I still use it regularly. You and your wife perform a great service to us out here in the “real world”. So please keep going as long as it is feasible to you.

At this point, you are one of the OG’s of the detailing world on RU-vid and I sure hope you’ll continue to provide the community with your valuable information through your videos. Too many people have tiktok brain. They cant concentrate for longer than a minute. Also I'm finding that a lot of these newer channels are friends with each other and seem to be pushing the same new brands constantly. Id never heard of this one particular detailing brand until a month or 2 ago. Now i sse it being shown on so many channels. Then i see podcasts with multiple detailers and guess what, they have owners of these very brands on their podcasts. Too many sellouts these days. I got burnt a few months ago by Pan and his industry disruptive coating video. He did no due dilligence that im aware of before promoting it to the detailing world. Im not sure he ever apologised for it either. Glad you are one of the few that are keeping it real.

Phil and Jess. I love your channel. I don’t always post a response to the content bc, there isn’t always a need to do anything other than providing a thumbs up. I purchased my SPTA mini polisher bc of you. I purchased Gtechniq trim restorer bc of you. I understand your frustration. There are great channels that struggle to get subs and I don’t get it. There’s one here in Canada that drops a disaster video every Friday and has over 3 million subs. So, you may be right. People just want to be entertained. Personally, if I invest time I would like to think I gained an insight or a new knowledge I can use. Good luck, wish I had something more meaningful to tell you, but I do think the detailing enthusiasts will miss you and RU-vid be will be lesser for it if you guys quit. Take care guys.

Short videos for the most part suck, and personally I don’t care if it comes from some of my favorite people to watch, I won’t. Because I feel that they are posting just to get views and have gotten greedy. Others I have stopped watching because they are just like watching a commercial, hawking either their “new” line or schilling for someone else. Use my discount code to buy this, sorry you just lost credibility with me. If doing something and it’s making you unhappy, find something else to do. Not that I’m encouraging you to stop making videos, I do enjoy watching them 👍✌️☮️

Totally understand if you leave RU-vid, know a few creators in the same boat. Their revenue has tanked to the point that it's just not worth it to them anymore. The new AI system is making it very difficult to make any money. So if your doing this just for fun? Keep doing it, if your doing it as a source of income? Quit. It is, what it is. You really had me worried at first, because I understand what you're talking about. Too many people think: "Learning and productivity - Bad, Being entertained and pacified - Good" I have learned SO MUCH from your channel and other like channels, that MY GAME has improved 1,000%. You have proven video after video, that learning, entertainment and "Real" are not mutually exclusive, because your videos are the full package. Granted, I don't watch all of your vids, but that's only because the particular content usually doesn't apply in my case. I have however, watched many of your videos multiple times - particularly when it's a subject that interests me, or it involves an issue or question I have about my own processes. One of the best channels Phil, please keep going. Ignore the shorts, like the longer videos, and the mix of vehicles you cover. The kind of thing that i like watching in detailing videos, is the PRODUCTS & TOOLS used, to see how you use and find the new products, get the best from them so we the enthusiast can decide if we want to try these also, or are we wasting our money. Detailers and influencers usually get the newest products before we the public, and there have been some great releases over the last few years. Plus you and Jess make some great content. RU-vid need to get their s**t together, or they will start to lose key contributors.

I just came across your channel not so long ago and think it is fantastic. I am a detailer myself but I haven't bothered with doing RU-vid as I just want to concentrate on giving my customers all my attention and not worry about the filming. I like watching people who actually detail a vehicle from start to finish and not just the disaster details but real world details. Keep up the good work Phil.

Stay strong. This shorts madness will end at some point. I experience the same. Since the shorts are a thing and Tiktok is at full blow, both platforms are full of junk and mostly marketing stuff. My channel is small, so the drop is not as significant as it is for you, but clearly there :( You do a great "service" to the community, together with the Mrs. :) Have a good one.

If you quit, I’m quitting!!! Seriously, you guys do so much for so many but should you decide to spend your time elsewhere you will be sorely missed and there will be a void in this industry for it. I can’t thank you enough Phil and Jess for what you have taught me over the years and you have become cherished friends and mentors. RU-vid does suck lately for those of us who are trying to put out quality educational content and I’ve had the same doubts lately myself so you are not alone. I always keep thinking maybe something on the horizon is out there that will change things so I just keep trying, but I’ve spent thousands of hours filming and editing videos and haven’t really seen a whole lot in return for my investment. It is a gamble and it’s a risk that you don’t know if it’s gonna pay off. But I don’t think people like you and I are in it to be viral- we’re in it to help people. So just know you’ve done just that my friend and whatever you decide I’m just thankful for what you have been able to share with this community. But please don’t go!!! Yours is one of the few channels that I thoroughly enjoy and learn something in every video! Much love to you both

Hi Phil, I wanted to post a comment just to provide some additional thoughts and perspectives on your frustrations. I have watched your videos for awhile now and I started to disconnect a little as I have felt that the videos have been a little more negative in nature in terms of how you present information. I have personally felt like there has been complaining and even condescension in your videos that has caused me to disconnect a little and step back. I certainly respect what you are doing and the effort you are putting in and I can only speak for myself. I would never presume this is the issue that has caused a drop off as I know you have access to way more data and analytics to give yourself better insight than me. For me, although there is great information in your videos, I have disconnected from you a bit as I haven't enjoyed how the content is being delivered. I certainly do not have an issue with longer content and I know its a tremendous amount of work you put in to it and I am glad you have stayed the course and put out the material that you want and are proud of. Again, I can only speak for myself. When I see a new video posted by you, its just not a super positive experience anymore as I feel you may not be as energetic and positive as you have in the past, which is what I am more drawn to. I feel like the fun is no longer there. Again, this is in no way meant to be disrespect or anything else besides how I have been feeling as one of your viewers. I wish you much success and wellness in whatever space you chose to pursue.

Don’t worry. I won’t quit. I have heard a lot of my viewers say that. RU-vid supposedly changed everyone’s bell notifications to “personalized” a while back. Stupid decision. Messed up everyone’s notifications. So now you have to go back to your favorite channels and make sure to click that bell into “all notifications”

You make great content keep up the fight. One of this biggest issues with RU-vid is you gain an audience and many stay and are loyal for years, but many just kind of lose interest, but they stay subscribed so when the algorithm kicks in its judging how well you are doing against your large subscriber base and doesn't push as less are watching. You can gain subs all the time, but if the old ones show no more interest for whatever reason it really hurts you. Same for any other platform as well especially Instagram. Another issue is if you push shorts those viewers rarely watch long form content so those subs hurt your reach as well.

I hate shorts as they have no Value I can only speculate but COVID is what screwed everything up Yes during covid more people had time to watch UT now that people are actually going back to work less time is available to watch videos.

I enjoy and prefer ordinary cars and trucks on your channel. I can’t relate to exotic super sports cars, but I’m just a father that details his children’s cars, because I love my Children. From time to time, I go back to watch your older videos also. Maybe you need a short break from making you tube clips? In the meantime, enjoy your family .

Well that sucks, I enjoy your videos. I am a former auto detail shop owner. After I joined the Air Force I kind of had to give it up, served 22 yrs. then another 18 as a Civilian Air Force employee. I found your channel as I was getting back into auto detailing. It turns out I still love to make cars beautiful, mostly my own cars, but I still enjoy it. I know you are not going to leave because even if you only earn a Dollar it's a Dollar you did not have. It is always the almighty Dollar that will win. Think about moving or adding a RUMBLE channel. A lot of good stuff over there, uncensored too. Very few top tier Auto Detailers though. Get in early and be the best, many followers would soon join in. When a roller coaster reaches the top of the first hill It's just downhill from there.

“Product placement”. That’s what it’s called in the traditional movie and TV business when a can of Coke or a certain brand of truck or car is used in a movie or show. Those are paid-for ads done in sneaky ways to show products used ‘naturally” instead of a traditional commercial. It’s ironic that social media (Facebook, especially) touted itself as the non commercial means for people to honestly discuss, share and learn from each other. But, it didn’t take long for the “honesty” to be compromised by hawking products and opinions. You and other “influencers” are sent tons of free supplies and equipment to use, which winds up being “product placement,” whether it’s Glove Box or the polishers and pads you use, etc. One tell-tale sign of this practice is that from week to week and video to video the “best” sealant or coating or shampoo, brushes, etc. change from brand to brand, depending on the free products the RU-vid influencers received that day or week. To your credit, you’ve stuck with some staples, like Beasley and the orange pads, power washer, APC, etc. But, the discounts you offer and cross promotion with other influencers is focused on revenue generation. I believe you and your wife have been true, hardworking detailers who have shared a wealth of knowledge, and you are much appreciated. The daily grind of detailing can only be captured and glorified so many ways, and that’s when the market becomes saturated. I applaud you for your altruistic approach to helping others, but until the next new shiny thing comes along, you and other detailers are basically trying to make the same thing look different or new with a variety of products that were sent gratis and that viewers have to purchase. Labor on as you’d like. Love your craft first, and treat videotaping and influencing second. Perhaps somewhere alone the way, the “shiny new thing” of RU-vid attention didn’t yield the rewards you imagined. That’s why detailing must be your reward and everything else is gravy. Even the “I Quit” headline was click bait, and you know it. We’ve now seen it all on social media that lures folks in just to wear them down. Love your craft and pursue that to find your happiness and fulfillment. If RU-vid is a thorn rather than a flower, truly say goodbye and rediscover your life, family, and joy.

I think the hype of starting a detailing business is over, lot of people tried but weren't making the numbers that they saw on youtube. I myself have a mobile detailing business for 4 years. Doing very well, seen mobile detailers in my area come and go. Try out some content involving detailing not so much focused on the business owner but maybe DIY'ers or "satisfying content"

People want Hype. Your content just lacks the market flair viewers of YT expect to see. Not to say you're channel isn't without value but it's just kind of boring. So no, people don't want to really see the same detailing from real detailers. YT has turned into Click marketing viewership. Most of my favorite channels are going to end up dying off because of this. :( You need to do something that makes people excited to see the next video. I have been sub'd for a very long time and while I have gotten great value from your hard work, when I see a new video pop up, Nothing makes me go, "Oh, I better stop what I'm doing to watch this now.". It's more like, "oh cool, he's still uploading videos, maybe I'll watch it later.". There is also something else to consider, we're about the same age, so I don't mean this in a mean way but the algorithm and the platform thinks of you the creator and me the viewer as an after thought. We are not the demographic YT are trying to impress with the platform, even if we're a major part of the structure. Keep up the great work. It's appreciate, even if it's not viewed.

What changed is you have alot more competition regurgitating your taught skills along side you just not in your previously unsaturated market where chemical guys was the only thing you had to outshine. That's why most detailing channels.Became a store or teach paid for classes. You can only tell someone a handful of times how a 1.1 mm orifice works to get more foam or why presoak with apc before people stop thinking your information is relevant to their growth. Detailing channels now start out with a hook Short video and it reengages you by leading you to their Story longer video. Double dipping and using the new model on both ends to their advantage. I play most RU-vid videos at 2x just so I can get to the meat and potatoes vs. opinions or off topic talk.

All correct. I HATE the current state of RU-vid. I tend to watch X and RU-vid insists on popping up Y. I am rapidly losing interest. Oh, and the best is playing commercials in the middle of a song. AI at its finest.

You are absolutely right. RU-vid has changed. Before I used to watch tons of detaining videos and hit the like button without having to sign into RU-vid. Now, I f I am not signed in, the like button is greyed out. I have watched most of your detailing videos. I am also subscribed to your channel with another email. But again, I do not subscribe to every detailing channel unles the content provides value, like you mentioned. I myself is very disappointed in RU-vid. I sure hope that they provide other venues of encouragement for people that do take the time to create valuable content.

Are you making content for you? Because you believe you can enrich and help the community? Or are you making content for monetary reasons? It’s very clearly not your first source of income, and as nice as the youtube money is for a very popular channel, you are creating in a very niche market at the end of the day and to have even 51K subs is nothing to scoff at. Now, detailing as whole being different today, thats a different story

Just watched and like others I still enjoy watching you and wife working on real vehicles that I likely will see in my detailing business. I watch to learn and you share much and yes I get tips on products and techniques. So I have not wanted to watch long videos much lately at a single viewing. Perhaps give a few bullet points on key points of the detail might help others and help your viewing numbers as well.

I think you may need to pay RU-vid to get your videos to more people. Unfortunately I feel that may be the problem. Just consider it like advertising lol. I have seen some detailing channel and their videos and wonder how they get so much views, when their videos suck. But am guessing they pay to promote their videos and that’s how they get their views up. Also I feel like sometimes you’re too honest and I appreciate that but you got to remember in the internet world everyone is perfect and the trolls make it seem like their view is the only way it’s

Before you get burned out, think back to when you were enjoying it and get back to doing that. I've seen your content increase over the years and I can only imagine how much time this must take from your personal life. If it's the attention span you can take bits of your long format and concerns it if you choose. But ultimately, take care of you and your family. Your content is great and very informative, but don't let it overwhelm you.

I have been watching you two for a minute and your channel is awesome. I watch your videos to the end and comment because I want your channel to keep going. The Denali looks amazing after you detailed it. The paint was glossy and showed depth. I think what you are seeing is to be expected, I like your content, but it is meant for detailers, other videos with bigger shops or more luxury cars can have more views as they offer "more" entertainment value to a broader audience. Also I believe that As detailers we have seasons so we won't be watching detailing videos made for detailers all the time, likely that will also have an effect on views. But, there is also the quality factor, I'm sure most of your viewers are part of your target audience, while reaching for a braoder audience will increase the amount of people that are only there temporarily and just waiting for the next best thing. Continue doing your thing and the right should come, I hope.

Please do not quit. Something wrong is going on with the management at RU-vid. Some RU-vidrs can't spell, can't punctuate, and may have never learned good grammar. The F-word is everywhere, porn bots are never dealt with, spam bots are not dealt with, and harassment comments are not dealt with. RU-vid is at fault. Phil and Jess continue to teach and entertain as RU-vid was originally created for.

Ive always wondered why this channel doesn't have way more subscribers. Your doing everything above and beyond from perfect thumbnails to titles to everything. - damn RU-vid algorythum is evil. You know there is something wrong when a top artist like Akiane kramarik gets thousands of views and a kids art channel on How to paint a house gets 13 million.
