Uncomfortable??? I guess it depends… compared to a panigale for example it’s very comfortable!!! . Step 1: put on a sticky rear tire and check the front tires. Once they are old and or battered, they are not good no more! Having said that, just chuck it into turn even in the rain, and give it the beans. No fuss ! I can go so much faster than with liter (plus) bike, if I’m not on a race track or with a more than perfect tarmac. This are my two cents: good rubber 2.2 bar front and 2.5 rear and just go, stop overthinking! And make use of a chrono… That’s me. IMO… Keep going! Nice job by the way 👍 Bye

Thanks for the owner’s perspective! The owner did replace the tyres after I returned the bike to him… Ride safe.

Honestly, I wouldn't even consider one.

A little scare now and again is ok as long as it doesn't put you off biking. Could a regular two wheeler have gone down on that gravel? Pulling over for a breath or two was a good idea.

Thanks for the comment. As for the gravel, on a two-wheeled bike I would have missed it entirely. The two wheels force you to choose which wheel is going to take hit from the hazard (gravel, potholes, leaves, etc.) and hope for the best.

The new model has more shove. 10-litre tank? More than that. You're not so keen, eh, Dick? I like three-wheelers. My first car was a Reliant Van, my second, a Bond Bug. Now my 'car' is a Can-Am F3-S. Really exciting ride. Far more fun and quicker than you'd imagine, probably. I still ride two-wheelers and when I'm in Thailand, on a daily basis. I'd like a Niken here, but they are too expensive. I don't get why your Niken isn't handling well. Are the tyre pressures correct? I think the Mk2 handles a bit better. Nick

I'd look into the 2023+ revised Niken GT. (888cc, LCD display, 10mm lower and narrower seat, and revised more compliant rear setup.) Having said that, you can also wait for prices to drop now at dealers. According to the Japan Yokohama Yamaha dealer (and RU-vid channel), the Niken GT looks like it's going to be discontinued. watch?v=XwW46tLwJz8

Seems like everything has a hard seat now. I wonder why

This is coming from my cycling experience, your butt does better on a hard seat for extended periods of time compared to a plush one.

Think maybe the feeling of extra grip from the front end would encourage you to take liberties with your cornering (slide towards end of vid). On a regular bike you subconsciously scan the road ahead for imperfections, gravel etc. Perhaps the Niken lulls you into a false sense of security? Oh and apart from that it looks cack. Definite no from me...

I appreciate your comment and your hypothesis. I never had the feeling of extra grip. I was riding cautiously from the go. The two wheels up front makes it impossible to miss gravel patches and other ordinary road hazards (like potholes). You have to choose which wheel you want to run through them and then deal with the consequences. On a two-wheeled bike, I would have missed the gravel patch all together. There is no lull in. Niken. Every manoeuvre has to be deliberate or it will betray you. Thanks for the comment.

You are really looking for arguments not to buy. Then don't. There's no point in doubting all the obvious advantages. You'll get the applause of all the narrow-minded and you won't need any balls at the biker hot spots 😉

that is the most ugly tricycle i have ever seen and i am used to strange bikes like the one on my profile...the proportions, the size/weight and complexity would put me away even if it was the last bike on earth

To add, nearly sliding out multiple times near the end definitely sealed the deal on that one..
