I've just invested in my first 8 gram 2016 Gold Panda and was wondering if it would make an additional sound investment to have the same year Silver Panda amongst the other coins from the same year. I'd deliberated long and hard over the investment and had originally planned to spread my investment cash over a few small bars, to begin with, but took into consideration a number of factors like China's rising economical/financial power, how Chinese infrastructure is going up by the day, how the US is being divested by investors in favour of investing in Chinese infrastructure, how China is likely to be a strong global superpower within 10-15-20 years and that steered me towards collecting something a little more unique like Panda coins. Could you help with directing to some good material and further reading on Pandas, as I really do think I've made a good investment that I will continue adding to.
I just got a 1/2 oz panda from 1986 like you have in the video. It looks more bronze than the 2016 and later pandas. I'm wondering if the color is normal or possibly I got a fake? I purchased from JMbullion so I assume they xray.
I bought a 1997 SmD one ounce Panda in Oct. '97 for CDN$458. It is still mint sealed and I just went looking at offerings on eBay. This may be the one case for me to get it slabbed by NGC. If it turned out to be MS70, It would have gone up more than 10 times. Mintage thought to be less than 7500 for the small date. The other Panda in my collection is a common 2014 ounce, basically a bullion piece, though nicely sealed and apparently unmolested.
I am a lover of Panda coins. I am buying some 1980s gold panda coins. I heard that original packaging is more desirable than graded, and possibly even worth more. I currently live in China, so I have access to all the coins I desire. Could you tell me would you recommend that I buy original packaging or pay a little more for NGC MS69?
I have an uncirculated set of 1988 pandas (1.8 oz total in 5 coins) all in their original plastic individual cases. My grandfather got them for my dad and his brother in 1989 for about 1200 usd. Currently this set retails between 4000-4400. Good investment, but as of now gold is very high. So mine may return to the retail market soon. 😆
Hi there numistacker, need some help new to all this coin collecting I just bought my 1st coins 2, 1oz silver kookaburra and rooster and my first gold coin 1/20 rooster I know it’s small but it’s a great start. My question grading coins. on eBay I see a gold coin new at £375 and the same coin graded at £675 why it’s the same coin new I don’t understand.
If you like them, can afford them, buy them! There's an auction in Monte Carlo each spring. Last year was centered around Pandas A to Z. Still have auction catalog. It's yours if you want it. Keep your Pandas. Let them melt theirs.
Very informative, thanks. I agree 100% on the 2008+ years. There are just way too many. The older ones do seem worth collecting at a decent price though. The ones in mint packaging tend to grade well, but I usually have them conserved anyway. 🐼’s often need it. You planning on having these conserved?
@@willstaxx0730 I don't know if they're better or not, but the early 15gram (previously 1/2 oz) pandas had a lot of low mintage years, so a whole set is likely to appreciate more than even the full ounce ones. That said, 2019 and the most recent years have had relatively high mintages so they don't trade for that much over spot. Honestly I think 2019, 2018, and 2001 are my favorite panda years in terms of aesthetics.
Great to see some panda's again, I do collect gold and silver panda's. I do buy some of the medals as well, like the lunar and temple panda. Did lucky stop with the garden panda?
Pandas are lousy as just pure bullion value ...they tend have always go for an extra premium and weigh less than nearly all the other government minted gold and silver coins ....I am not into collectibles so I hate em ...I did buy a tiny 1/10 oz coin on eBay mounted as a necklace for same price as dealers sold coins as ...but bought that as a gift I gave away ....hey the lady loved Panda bears so seemed like a cool gift....I would hate to support China's ripping off consumers just seems wrong....they can manufacture stuff way cheaper than other countries and yet STILL they milk the price AND rip the consumer off on weight
Don't do, it think of your family and your friends, imagine the great reputation you have forged, ruined because you went from great sovereigns for some crappy little bear, i beg you even ring the samaritains they can advise you, it's a big move but at least to can share it with 10 million panda coin lovers, you can speak mandarine?
