Nearly every MBA program in the world now accepts the GMAT or GRE, so we're going to help you make the decision on which to take for your application.
First, we help you understand when you should definitely use the GMAT in your MBA application. Then, we break down the differences between the two sections of each exam. We start by explaining how the quant section of the GRE and GMAT differ (and why the GRE quantitative section just feels easier).
Then we break down the differences between the verbal sections of each exam. Hint: neither the GMAT nor GRE is necessarily easier - it's more a matter of your verbal strengths.
Now you may be wondering, what's a ""good"" GRE score for MBA admissions? There isn't a lot of great data available right now on GRE scores and MBA admissions, but we'll provide you with the best information we can and share some good ways to think through it. For example, in theory your GMAT or GRE score will be used in conjunction with your academic record to help determine how you will perform in that program. In reality, the GMAT is part of MBA rankings. So, how does this impact which you use?
Finally, we explain the deal with the GRE GMAT converter tool on the ETS website.

Can you please do this video again with your latest insights on GMAT Focus vs GRE New version? Thanks in advance! And as always your content has been truly helpful.

We'll probably do some sort of update on this video in the next year, once we see more admissions data from the new version of the test. Very, very few students were admitted with GMAT Focus scores in the 2023-24 admissions cycle, and we'll need another 8-12 months before we have a really strong feel for how MBA programs are interpreting the new GMAT scores. For now, I'd stand by the punchlines in the current version of the video, filmed in late 2019. If you can get an elite GMAT score (given the programs you're targeting and your demographic), go do it. If you can't, you might want to consider the GRE as an alternative, and as a very broad rule of thumb, 160/160 on the GRE is a reasonable starting goal for top programs. Beyond that, we'll have to wait and see. :) I hope that helps a bit!
