Alice Cooper said in an interview a few years ago he didn't know of anything that a new metal band could do to shock anyone anymore other than cutting off your arm onstage and then you could only do it twice. Metal isn't scary anymore.
I didnt know metal was supposed to be scarey. But, ok. I know the more time spent looking weird is time taken away from the music. But, some people find it more entertaining I guess. Quick, sharp, bright, LOUD, alert and witty. At times shocking, these are the backbone of a lethal sound. Followed with " to the heart" and "thought provoking" lyrics. Then, theatrics takes the back seat always. The music makes the image, not the appearance. Everything else evolves around the music.
No. I don't need metal artists sacrificing goats behind the scenes, just like I don't need rappers selling crack and murdering members of their community, just like I don't need Joe pesci stabbing people 96 times in the trunk of Ray liottas car only to end up digging up the body three months later in order to avoid having the body discovered by the men constructing an incoming housing development at the scene of the crime in order to enjoy Goodfellas, just like I don't need the actors in the 'The Devils Rejects' doing the things they did in that movie. Anyone who insists artists live their art is literally wishing death upon members of their community. Grow up.
Metal musicians are some of the coolest people not scarey. They probably look intimidating to people on the outside but never judge a book by its cover. No one thought Jeffrey effrey Dahmer looked scarey and I'm pretty sure everyone knows what he did....

Metal and all those so "satanic bands" are no longer scary. Even babies wear metal bands. The shock value is gone because today's society is highly open minded in many ways. The 80s amd 90s teens are now parents and are showing their kids the music they used to listen to. However being a Republican in the U.S. is like being a rebellious 90s goth teen. They all look down upon you lol
