I was diagnosed with Epilepsy at age 10 (Grade 5), and under the recommendations of several doctors, my parents consented to having the tubes between my male organ and the testicles clipped at both ends and removed when I was only 12 years old. My Parents said "We're not doing this to be Mean. We're doing it because we Love You!" My Big Brother joked that I won't have to wear protection.
I am mildly disabled but I am fearful I might be seen as forced if I have my tubes tied. The reasons for this are I don't want children and I was abused as a child.
To the guy who is opposed to forced sterilisation, it is not him who is living with a daughter who has an intellectual disability that renders her incapable of taking care of her own personal needs. The disability if severe, will not change. The individual won't be capable of raising children of her own, and in some cases the parents are making the right decision. Unless we have walked in those shoes taking care of such individuals we have no right to judge at all. Certainly not Graham Innes. It's all very well saying it's the individuals right to choose etc, but in severe cases some individuals don't have the capacity to make that choice themselves, and the people caring for them and taking care of their personal needs reserve the right I feel to make the decision for them.
Are we in Russia? Did the parents consider abortion? Adoptions and foster care spares the unborn. Communist countries feel that you have absolutely no human rights to carry on your lions! The Chinese will often step on your head and limit population growth!
We are talking about individuals who are not intellectually capable of caring for their own intimate and medical needs, and are often distressed by their own bodily functions. Not girls who are capable of understanding what is going on, and how to care for themselves. These girls are nonverbal and have the IQ of toddlers. They are not capable of sexual consent, or ever will be. Children are NOT an Option for them, because they ARE permanent children.
I am strongly opposed to this. I'm on the Autism spectrum (Verbal end) and I was coerced at 19 to get my tubes tied by my emotionally abusive father who technically should have had no say in what was to be done with my body but he basically took over my decision and threatened to have me put into a group home if I said no. Imagine how THAT feels?
what? the subererly disabled ppl in the video get covered in poop too? but they dont wanna stop them from pooping…. for some reason the periods the problems… you know sterilisation surgeries can commonly cause excruciating constant pain forever. in australia a woman got sterilised at 7 years old cuz she had a vision problem.
Removing her uterus so young can also present other health problems. My disabled daughter was put on the pill because she had heavy periods. She started having a period every two weeks so resulted in more siezures and had to come off it. Periods don't bother her though she sees me changing my pad when we're out so she was happy when she started at 12 and could be like me. There was a uk case a few years ago but the woman had had 6 children that she was unable to care for without support. If she had any more her life would have been at risk but she didn't understand that. I know a few parents with learning disabilities and they are good parents to they're children They do have good family support though. I also know some who have had multiple children who were not able to keep they're child. Even with a supportive family they wouldn't have been able to care for the child alone while family members work.
One of the saddest cases I've seen was to watch a disabled woman get pregnant and have the child removed into foster care. To not protect them from preditors and possible pregnancy is discusting and selfish. Praise the families who have common sense to sterilize their girls and wish also for them to consider the same with the boys.
Truth Pohl, it is sad, but you can keep a Disabled person from that WITHOUT major surgery they did not consent to. To deny a Disabled person the right to make decisions is disgusting and selfish.
the severely disabled ppl in the video get covered in poop too but they dont wanna stop them from pooping…. for some reason the periods the problems… you know sterilisation surgeries can commonly cause excruciating constant pain forever. in australia a woman got sterilised at 7 years old cuz she had a vision problem.
