Owner of the Galvanizing Group, Patrick Galvin has seen the clear and compelling evidence that points to the physical and mental benefits of being of service to others. In his talk at TEDxMcMinnville, Patrick speaks on flipping the script when it comes to altruistic appeals to service, embracing self-interest instead. Patrick is the chief galvanizer of The Galvanizing Group, a speaking and coaching company in Portland, Oregon that helps high-performance organizations and teams galvanize repeat and referred business through better relationships. Patrick is the author of The Connector's Way: A Story About Building Business One Relationship at a Time, a parable about how great relationships are the difference between success and failure in business.
Patrick is the president of the Portland Rotary Charitable Trust which funds community service projects in Oregon and abroad. Patrick served as president of the Oregon Chapter of the National Speakers Association and has spoken throughout the United States, Canada, Latin America, and Europe. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I keep thinking about this talk, and how the world would be a better place if more of us watched it, and acted on it.

Patrick lives the service the he espouses in his talk. We needed a speaker at the last minute for our Rotary group, and with less than 24 hours notice, he volunteered to present. He showed this Ted talk (which our group loved) and facilitated an engaging discussion afterwards. Thank you, Patrick! This is exactly what we needed when we needed it!

Patrick Galvin nicely elevates and expands his "Connector's Way" message. The mind follows the body (our actions), which can create real, lasting change for our communities. Thank you, Patrick!

Thanks Renee. I appreciate your taking the time to watch and comment on my TEDx Talk. I'm glad that you're getting so much out of being a Rotarian. If your club is meeting virtually during the pandemic, I would be glad to share my TEDx Talk and speak about how to attract more members.

What an awesome, authentic, and detailed speech on the purpose and value of serving. The old advice of the “more you give the more you will get” is so true and Patrick Galvin describes this in a beautiful way. Not only did he give an amazing TED talk but he also has a great book called “The Connector’s Way” which is an excellent read on the power of relationships. Great work!!!!!!

Thank you for making us think about how we can make a difference through service! I TOTALLY agree that we should track our time on technology and use some of the hours wasted on something more useful. As you said- it will make us healthier and happier! Fabulous job , Patrick!

Not the case. I know Patrick personally and he gives to others with NO EXPECTATION OF RECIPROCATION. This is the the key to service, which Patrick has mastered. P.S. Loved his book The Connectors Way.
