"When I was a child I had a fever My hands felt just like two balloons Now I've got that feeling once again I can't explain, you would not understand This is not how I am I have become comfortably numb" -Pink Floyd
"When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse, out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look and it was gone, I can not put my finger on. Now the child is grown. The dream is gone."
Loved your thoughts on human interaction and how you could survive in the media without video games. I watch you all because of your personalities and have come to have the podcasts be my favorite shows, as i get so many stories through it from your real experiences. Funhaus is one of the few channels where i watch almost everything that gets uploaded and its by and far because of you as people. Keep up the wonderful work
I just wanted to say that I am so incredibly thankful for the Funhaus team and all of it's content. I have been in some really rough situations lately, and one constant that always lifts my spirits, is Funhaus videos. Especially Dude Soup. It feels like just hanging out in a room of friends, shooting the shit and that's something I really value. Thank you all!
I want every Funhaus member to shave their beards completely off and then not shave them for a year. Except Bruce. Unless he wants to. Okay, Bruce too.
This is my favorite dude soup in recent memory, I enjoyed being able to hear the casual conversational side of the podcast for the first half or so, and then having it focus in on a topic for the rest.
To respond to Adam with regards to watching Funhaus without games; That's exactly why I watch you guys. Demo disk resonates with me because I'm just a couple years or so older than you guys and the games/demos are something I played and spending time watching your videos and the banter is a lot like going back in time and enjoying weekends with my friends. Now as a father of a 2 and 3 year old I just don't have the adult companionship I once did and you guys help a lot with that! Love the content!
I didn't realize the lead singer from Tool is the same guy in A Perfect Circle until recently. But I agree Tool and Nine Inch Nails are fucking awesome. Them, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, etc are the guys that were judged for the visual aesthetic of their groups/videos when really they should have been paying closer attention to the themes and messages being delivered in their songs. They all seem to be pretty damn intelligent people who were taken a little too seriously even by their own standards I think.
I love where the dude soup podcast is headed. I like the looser style that allows for more free discussion and anecdotes from these guys. Also something about the fact that James has tried Salvia makes me incredibly happy
+IcedVenom Nightcore I don't give a damn about either of them! I just found it funny the topic of the title came up over halfway through the podcast! XD
One of the few gameplays during Dude Soup that I actually really enjoyed. I usually just do the audio version because I don't care much for the gameplay during the podcast, but this was really fun to watch
This episode was one of the best ones yet. The discussions and arguments were really mature and insightful. Thank you. Keep improving and bringing great content. Love ya.
I think you guys are around a similar age to me (I'm 32) and I was freaked out by Tool and NIN. Then when I was about 16 I thought they were the best thing ever.
Wanted to say I wasn't a fan of your podcasts in the beginning. I used to come home from classes at school and put them on to have something to fall asleep to. HOWEVER, with the recent upgrades and overall small changes; Lawrence keeping conversations on track, James explaining to the audience reasonable and sometimes unbiased opinions on topics, Bruce keeping the conversation entertaining with humour and Adam being the devil's advocate. You guys have really developed as a whole and make these podcasts very entertaining to watch throughout! Keep up the awesome work you filthy animals! With Love,
Adam's "we could exist as a channel without video games" was on point. I genuinely watch funhaus and achievement hunter more for the talking and the podcast like conversation rather than video games. open haus is one of my favorite weekly vids. if it this channel was just them talking and bs'ing I would still watch.
Microtransactions, it's quite simple. Free games have to make money somehow so they add things such as accessories, or rather content that should just be in the game that's obtainable. This is just one of the many examples of how FTP games earn money. Take a look at warframe which literally is filled with BUNDLES that pop up every week if you want a new warframe to play. Don't you worry though, for a small loan of your entire lifespan you can grind for days on end to get one warframe. And don't worry about your guns either it only takes 3 days to make one. My first gun took 3 days to build, but wait instead of waiting I could pay a small loan of $10 instantly craft it (Btw it literally takes 3 days to craft weapons). Most FTP games I get are decently fun until I hit a paywall, but I'd still rather then be payed games so I can just pay once and enjoy the game.
It takes 3 days to build a frame, 12 hours to build a weapon. Sounds like you are just really shitty at targeted rng grind. This is even more comical with the recent changes to the void that make getting prime parts way easier. And finally, the most expensive instant build is 50 plat, or about 3 dollars. Your original point is not invalid, your choice of example isn't even invalid, it's that you seem to know little to nothing about your example. Get good.
Chuck Testa My point is, as I say in the last sentence, is that I just want to buy a game and be able to play it without the thought that I might have to buy things to speed up my progress or better it with money.
The last part of this podcast was the best thing I have ever seen on a podcast. Please do this again where you read out comments people left on a topic that is in the news, but on some forum. Keep up the amazing work guys!!
Referencing the conversation on content creation, there's an old saying that goes, "You learn to paint by copying other artists. Then, once you've mastered the craft, you find your voice." I think it rings true for a lot of mediums; first you get the logistics, then you make it your own.
Once I had a fever, and was playing a lot of Call of Duty. I had stayed home from school, and played it all day. By the time I wanted to go to bed I couldn't sleep because my mind was still playing the game. I laid in bed trying to fall asleep, while I could still see the game being played in my head. Whenever I died, I had a 10 second respawn worth of "free time." This free time was an existence in which my mind was able to "break free" of the video game, and participate in the real world. As soon as that 10 seconds was up, my mind reappeared in the map playing the game again. This continued for what felt like a half an hour. Eventually I passed out from exhaustion.
Really great podcast, just had jaw surgery and the limited amount of time I've spent conversing with others has almost been enough to push me over the edge of insanity. The podcast offers some much needed relief in an odd way. Bruce might know what I'm talking about. Keep up the excellent work.
Chiropractors rule, I dislocated something in my lower back one time and went to the emergency room for the unbelievable pain I was in and they said "nothing we can do without surgery" and gave me pain pills and brushed me out the door. Went to a chiropractor the same day popped it back in, told me to walk carefully, not strian myself, avoid sitting in broken down chairs like I always sat in and lay flat when I lay down and it will be back to normal in a few days, haven't had a problem with it since, he also said it could have gotten a lot worse if it hadn't been put back soon enough, in that I would have needed a surgery to correct it then.
Couldn't agree with Adams point more! Would love to see you guys talk movies, tv or just stuff. For me it's never really been about the games. You guys are just funny and enjoyable to watch. Would love to see these types of podcasts go up more frequently. Keep up the amazing work guys!
Haven't tuned in in a while I like the new format. While you still are playing games and talking the focus is on all of you rather than the first seats face. As always the content is top notch and I'm looking forward to watching this podcast on a regular basis. Keep it up!
this podcast is really great. as someone who tried making those types of gaming videos I realized that I don't like "performing". I love directing, editing, and just building a video. Going into a college program where I would do all sorts of those things, I'm happy I know the specific direction I want to go.
The discussion towards the end is the exact reason why I prefer Funhaus/IG over many other channels. Excellent humor aside, I get a sense that they are genuine people beneath the facade they professionally portray. They've gotten me through my late nights in medical school and emotional lows and I just wanted to say thanks.
On James' point I think Funhaus really is unique in what it puts out I watched Achievement Hunter for years but these past few months I have graduated to Funhaus and am loving every second!
I love these podcasts because they sound so different from their regular videos. They sound so much more intelligent, granted they probably are but its just such a different tone and vocabulary from say a GTA gameplay. I love the variety in their content.
You don't need to understand what some one is saying to know if they are voice acting well or not. So little of human communication is actually what we say, from tone of voice, how fast we are talking, hand movements, body language, where the eyes are looking and so on (which animators often do a great job). So if during a scene, the voice (of a character) you hear feels like it fits the mood and helps you to absorb yourself into that world, isn't that the ideal job description of a voice actor? TL;DR - Sub & Dub both work wonderfully regardless of being able speak other languages.
This is weirdly the most relatable podcast I've ever heard. From the fever dreams where I'm like "the exact same thing happened to me!" to 90s pop industrial bands, I'm just like "fuck, if it weren't for the fact that every single person on Funhaus spends like 15 hours a week at the gym, I'd fit right in."
I have to say, this podcast was fantastic. I really enjoyed what turned into a great discussion about the business end of IP usage. One of the best Dude Soups ever.
Wow, a lot has changed since the last time I tuned into Dude Soup. Last one I watched, they were sitting in front of a computer playing a game in the office. Now they have a set.
Just had a conversation with my house mate, went like this "If Bruce was in our city right now, I would be gay" "Me too" "My girlfriend even said its okay" LIFE GOALS
The reason we struggle to pay attention to anything is the constant over stimulation of the brain that we experience every day. And the reason we can't stand to go a period of time without distracting ourselves by looking at our phone, is because you get scared of being alone with your own thoughts. You get that existential nothingness creeping in...the forever empty inside all of us. But don't be afraid of that, embrace it. Sadness is poetic, and there is beauty in sadness.
I agree with Adam about the old ways. I grew up with most of my access to the Internet at school so I learned to appreciate it My little brother on the other hand doesn't really understand it and he grew up with it. These darn youths
Can we get some guests on the Cast soon? Like Kevin Perarea(that white guy from AOTS), or Khail cause he's great. Maybe bring in Yung Maistro so he can announce his return from retirement 👀
One of their last IG podcast was with Kevin (who they worked with at G4) if you want to check that out. He's pretty busy with The Attack. But I completely agree that I'd like to see both Kevin, Khail or even Chris Hardwick and Adam Sessler (both G4 alumni) on the podcast at some point.
I love funhaus but I haven't quite jumped into their podcasts yet, this being my first one. Needless to say, I'm pretty hooked. I guess now I have a new video to look forward to every week. Good video boys.
Mexico had to rename their Novas. And my dad's Nova got T-boned by an SUV going about sixty. The driver's seat got pushed maybe six inches to the right but he drove home unscathed in a perfectly driveable muscular car, whereas the SUV was completely totaled.
This was a really good one because it was more about you guys sharing funny things and opinions than some movie or game that came out, I know Lawrence mentioned once they need that to bring in the new people but to keep the people who already love you guys interested we wanna hear more of you
This might be the beer talking, but I relate to you guys far more then I do Achievement Hunter. Between NIN and Rob Zombie being from Satan like Lawrence says, or not knowing STP meant Stone temple pilots and thinking that it meant an oil company. This is really too close to home.
I watch you guys and Achievement Hunters for the personalities. You are all hilarious guys! I do love watching you guys play the games but its the banter and jokes that make the game entertaining. My son and I play the same games and will relate to something either one of you or an AH member did when we play and then we laugh. Rock on guys. Old guy here BTW 47 years old.
They're speaking of watching something while doing something else. Like you can't sit still for a moment. Thanks to the Rooster Teeth, Funhaus, and Off Topic podcasts, I was able to drive 1600 km (995 miles) in 2 days. Perfect thing to listen to while driving or other "mind numbing" tasks.
Guys, you all know Adam from YMS (YourMovieSucks). His whole business is based on Fair Use, so he's clearly educated on this topic. And relatively recently, he put up a video "Cool Cat Learns Fair Use", where he very clearly explains, what is and what isn't Fair Use. I suggest you all watch it, it's really informative.
I had an old fashion Chiropractor that would lean his own weight into each adjustment, he also served two tours in Vietnam as medic, he was very humble about his time and would often haze me about how I don't stand up straight enough.
The box art for Starcraft: Brood War scared me when I was 8. Saw it at Office Depot on the shelf while my parents were getting supplies. Kerrigan's murderous stare, alien features and blood trailing down her mouth. I started playing it when I was 14 and then it hit me like a ton of bricks. Years ago, *this* game's box art gave me nightmares.
I look up to you guys and your humor always seems to mesh with me (especially Adam's messed up humor). The best advice I was always given was "Good writers borrow, great writers steal" meaning that you should try to take something that you like and change it dramatically and better to make it your own. Granted this was meant for writing classes but I try to apply to everything. I started RU-vid because I see you and other RU-vidrs I like enjoy doing what you do. And even tough it is hard work, I can look back and say hey, I like what I do.Thank you for being awesome
Being someone from Santa Clarita who went to Saugus High School, I couldn't help but lmao on Adam's description of Santa Clarita Valley. It is spot on.
