Dan Patrick reacts to the Pittsburgh Pirates pulling starting pitcher Paul Skenes from his no-hitter after the seventh inning and explains why he had no problem with the decision
No you don’t pull someone going into the 8th of a no hitter…. Cmon now!! If it’s a 1 hitter okay!! But a no hitter you let him go for it… terrible baseball today
Can you imagine a manager trying to pull Gibson, Seaver, Drysdale, or any number of great pitchers from back in the day when they had a no/no going? The manager would be putting his life at risk!
You don't have to endure Shelton losing dozens of games for the Pirates over the last years. Maybe you'd understand a little better, he does very little that makes sense, including this. This was a lifetime opportunity and one that he's worked his whole life up to this point to have a shot at. The average is 2 no hitters get thrown in a baseball per season since its inception to the present. It is what it is. All I know is that the Pirates have the greatest pitcher in baseball, Paul Skenes. He's 22 years old, so good for the game.
Dude the guy isn’t throwing between 97 and 102 🤦♂️. The radar guns being used today are juicing the readings by 3-4 MPH. she was throwing 93-94 to 97-98. Which is exceptional but not unheard of. Stop acting like these guys have suddenly become super heroes in the last 6-7 years. Over 100 years of baseball have produced top speeds of 101-102 MPH and now suddenly every Tom, Dick and Harry and throwing that hard because “duhhh evolution”… Yeah ok 👍🏽.
Bob Nutting is nervous and doesn't want this attention on skenes because it will make a spotlight on his whole organization. The cheapness and mismanagement will be on display for all the spoortsworld to see. Can't hide behind your mediocraty anymore. Sell the team to somebody that cares Bob.
