With the White Sox reportedly listening to offers for everyone on their roster, Chuck Garfien and Ryan McGuffey discuss whether they should trade Luis Robert Jr and/or Garrett Crochet. Would it be best to build around them or is now the time to deal them? And what kind of packages could they get in return? Plus, they discuss the end of Sunday’s loss to the Red Sox when Pedro Grifol chose not to pinch hit for Martin Maldonado in the 6th and 8th innings.

Trading Robert Jr and Crochet for more prospects will not help all the great prospects they already have reach the majors sooner. Robert Jr and Crochet are guys you build a team around. Fire Pedro Grifol and get a good manager and coaching staff.

this is the thing i can't get behind. like you have to pick somebody that works and set a timeline for a build with them. any other team would build around them.

Doesnt matter. Theyre not gonna be competetive while Robert and Crochet are still there so might as well sell high.

@@saintseymour The best way to become a good team is through accumulation of talent. Doesnt matter who they got in the farm system. Keep accumulating high end talent. The more you acquire, the better the odds of finding longterm players.

@@williamhermann6635 I disagree, pending a good manager and coaching staff being put in place. They have 14 very good to elite pitching prospects. They also have some real good positional talent. In 2 years, this team, with the right leadership, can be very good. Don't be fooled by the current dumpster fire.

Here’s my idea. Extend Crochet after this season. They have a good farm system wo trading Robert and Crochet. The Wsox should improve the offense and pitching. At best they should field a team that’s watchable. So Robert, Crochet, Colson Montgomery, Bryan Ramos/Lenyn Sosa, etc. Start from there and build a “new core”.

Exactly! It’s pretty simple. Keep your good players, get rid of the bad ones, develop your farm system and pick up a couple of free agents. We’ve given away so much talent and then go hire an untalented manager. Ridiculous.

No. My reason for the answer is that this organization has been trade happy but to no avail... I do not believe we have the evaluators in the house to make that call... Give me back the Chris Sale deal that was a fail! When I say organization I'm not excluding the Bulls from that notion either... The Jimmy Butler give away still sucks! So Trade Robert who looks like he has a good 7 years of prime baseball ahead for what... a roll of the dice.... No Thanks! Same with Crochett.. I'm tired of watching our guys pitch great elsewhere... The sox need to cut bait on what doesn't work well JImenez, Yoan, ect... Bennitendi, Vaughn.. What's up with Colson Montgomery? The way they run this thing please do not trade away the two best players with a bright future ahead.. Wrong trade!

PROS of trading Robert: 1) Injury prone 2) Sox will not resign him as he's a Boras agent 3) The prospect return could accelerate the minor league rebuilding of talent by two years CONS of trading: 1) Club control and $$$ 2) Free agents won't sign here as we are the laughing stock of the league and need to build around a star. Solution: Sell the the freaking team, Jerry. PLEASE! You have held this city hostage for way too long.

Pedro's, his "liking him (Maldo) in these types of situations" with fans like me yelling "Pinch hit for him!" being okay with him, meaning screw us, he knows better so expect more of the same, being reason enough to fire him right now. Before he personally blows another ballgame with his stubborn mismanagement. I mean, a space alien knowing nothing about the game, given a brief explanation of the rules and Maldo's statistics, so being informed that Maldo's coming through "in these situations" with his next to zero batting average and the teams history of run scoring in close games, would certainly have made the obvious to ET and everyone else (but not to Pedro) decision.

Honestly it doesn't matter if they trade Robert, Fedde, or Crotchet....when it comes time to pay them, they won't and they'll leave. If they trade them, they'll bank on the assets having primes before they're due to be paid. And Jerry won't pay them. Not after he let Kenny Williams (who shoulda been canned 12 years ago) wreck the roster. If the moves work, and it comes down to needing only a few missing pieces, Jerry will half ass it like last time. We needed a RFer, a 2nd baseman, and a left handed arm to replace Rodon, and Jerry said no to all of it. Unless it was La Russa's love child Leury Garcia. Reinsdorf flat out sucks.

No. Not even a question. Shouldn't even trade Fedde. Fedde and Crotchet would be amazing guys to be around next year for Thorpe, Schultz and Iriarte. Replace Maldy with Quero. Dump Vaughn and Make Sheets 1B. Call up Montgomery to play short. Sign a free agent 3B. And all the sudden this is a very watchable baseball team. Not necessarily competitive. But it's what an org who's worth a damn would do this vs nuke

You one hundred percent trade Fedde. He has value and will probably not be a good pitcher when the whitesox are ready to compete. Montgomery is not ready for the big leagues. He is hitting .222 at AAA with the arrow pointing down. He is struggling big time to make contact. Jacob Gonzalez could pass him as a prospect by season’s end. I am excited about a future Korey Lee and Edgar quero pairing at catcher. Quero is on fire at AA right now.

Clean house. Everyone that has the stink of this rot should go if the price is right. These players don't know how to be a team. Robert can't stay healthy for this team, we need stars that can stay on the field. Crochet has oft been injured too, and his value is at its peak. Trade him while the going is good. We need players that will arrive together at the same time as the others from AA and AAA. Then fill in the holes and add veteran that are proven winners and team guys.

Its typical of Sox fans to call Reinsdorf cheap because he won't pay insane contracts. Sox have been top 15 in payroll for 10 straight seasons until this one (they are 18th). First move before anything else, fire Pedro. Those two winnable blown ballgames to the Cubs being the final straw. Then having the bases full with two outs and allowing Maldo with his slightly higher than zero batting average to bat for himself in another blown by one run game to Boston, being the clincher. Keep Crochet, trade Junior before the other teams catch onto what a delicate flower he is, and that getting a hundred games out of him is as likely as being struck by lightning while cashing in a winning lottery ticket. Let him sit on some other team's injured list. Like the other two members of The Three Disabled List Amigos, Eloy and Moncada.
@aidenawe9359
@aidenawe9359 3 месяца назад
Why make the Wsox in 2025 even worse. You could put Robert at DH(along with Sheets) to improve his health. I agree with Crochet. At best the Wsox should fire Pedro and hire Sergio Santos. Field a watchable team at best. So Robert, Crochet, Sosa/Ramos, Colson Montgomery whenever he’s called up. Start from there and build a “new core”.
@hiramnoone
@hiramnoone 3 месяца назад
@@aidenawe9359 With Junior, much like Eloy and Moncada routinely needing a month on the disabled list after getting a lip sprain off a soda can or from getting a bad haircut means they need someone they can count on to be in the lineup most of the time. Being the DH sure didn't keep Eloy off the DL, did it? Face it, those three guys could be encased in bubble wrap wearing foam rubber underwear and they could still manage to get hurt during a game of Monopoly.
