@@vavavogue4070 Of course it's your truth because it's coming from your mouth, or should I say typed from your fingers. But the question still remains: why you got to make this into a skin color thing?
I love Foxy Brown & always have. She’s a rap legend without a doubt & I always felt she deserved more. Foxy clearly had some hidden deep emotional issues & always let her anger get the best of her. You would hear bad things about her/her attitude a lot. Even way before the hearing loss. Her constant antics began to overshadow her music. I can’t help but to think that she became an adult who never truly healed her inner child since she was only 15/16 when she entered the music business off the streets. The industry exploited her, sexied her up, glamourized it, AND capitalized off of it. A damn teenage girl. Then when she became older and her troubled heart was apparent they discarded her like trash. Then she lost her hearing. I could be wrong, but I also feel she might have mental issues & no one wants to address them to her. I legitimately feel sorry for Foxy Brown & hope that she finds inner peace someday. Hopefully her baby girl doesn’t make the same mistakes she did growing up. Much love to her.
@@kerrajohnson3203 you really don't think someone who doesnt have natural flow can't get good at it with 100s of hours of practice? That's a weird take
the world attacks beautiful dark skinned women and when they show any strength they are labeled hot tempered, that woman has been fighting since she was 13 on her own, f that, she is a queen
That Broken Silence album deserves to be mentioned in the conversation about best rap albums of all time. It’s excellent and started trends for not just females
Her growth was not really stunted. She had a great run in the 90s and early 00. The hearing thing stopped her in 05. She most likely only had a few years left anyway. All her peers fell off around the same time
@@dsg3053 I was there and I lived it. I was a teenager in high school when foxy was in her prime. 1995-1999 Everyone at my school had her cd and where singing her songs. Her and lil kim was the 2 top females beside lauryn hill who was mostly singing anyway. If you want to say she fell off in the 2000s I can see that. But the time when she was collabing wit Jay Z and her 1st album she was on top. Thats a simple fact. Not to mention her classic dancehall collabs with Spragga Benz and Baby Cham. If your not from that era or if you where a square in that era then you dont know what you speak of
@@dsg3053 Get Me Home, Ain't No Nigga, I'll be good, Touch Me Tease Me, Firm Biz, BK Anthem, OH Yeah, Kandy, U Already Know and 2 Platinum Albums I would say she had a great Run for Her Time & it's easy to just look back at the numbers and say no if you wasn't there to see for yourself I was about 4-5 when Foxy first started and I know she was Big in the 90s Her Kim Lauryn & Missy was the top 4 Females In Hip Hop
@@truthman6550 but that’s the point. She blew up but didn’t get anywhere near as big as she could have gotten because she has a shit way of dealing with issues. She’s like the lady Joe Budden
Not making excuses, but starting out in the vile music industry at 15 years of age.... How tf can u even mature properly without their parents around to keep them grounded
Foxy Brown is the greatest female Emcee to ever rhyme, I mean in the history of Hip Hop, looks, flow, voice, delivery, style, sex appeal, Foxy was and still is the total package...
@:Red-Feather :MoyToy Nah cuz, I'm not bout to go there. You have your opinion and I got mine. Foxy is one of the G.O.A.T's. Its not even up for discussion. Just go listen to her catalog and find me a bar she spit you don't like. She bodied each and every last line she rhymed on... HANDS DOWN!
If The Fever & Black Roses Had Actually Been Released, Fox Would've Held The Game Down Until Nicki Came Along. /c Literally Nobody Else Was Doing Anything Besides Trina.
At that time, she was a full on sex symbol and didn't need to have surgery. The "ill nana" rapped about sex, brand names, money and her p*say as much as possible. Let's not get it twisted.
Alhamdulillah! Cuz! This one up there with your top 5! You really captured what foxy meant to the game. I remember I didn't even really buy women mc's cd's except for Latifah, Boss, Concincious Daughters until Fox Boog hit the scene. She is severely underrated. Too me she has the greatest true MC line. "Yall niggas only nice around mics like Pippen" wittiest, hardest line top 5 dead or alive. Salute to one of Brooklyn and hip hop's finest. Thanks again for framing my teenage years @stuntedgrowth
Fox has always been my favorite female MC. I think starting in the game so early had something to do with her growth/maturity. Starting at 14/15 years old is alot of pressure. I think the biggest issue was the hearing loss because that was the ultimate downfall. U can mend bridges but the hearing loss changes her voice, flow and ability to really stay on track. She'll always be my #1 female though. Her flow and the way she would ride a beat with so much versatility was unmatched! #TEAMFOX 🙌🏾
Firm Fiasco still gets tons of plays til this day! Loved her on that track. It's crazy looking back how raw she was at 18-19. Great job covering this one!
Female emcees shelf life is always shorter. She seemed to fizzle out where she should have. I know when Shyne was rumored to be released in 04 they were pushing for a Jay, Shyne and Foxy album but it was always wishful thinking. She also didn’t write most of her stuff.
Can't name one female rapper whose had a career over 20yrs wit some relevancy. Without rapping about sex or sounding like the men they don't last. The others were either told to rap about sex money or murder when it wasn't their style so they got pushed to the side
IMO Foxy Brown is definitely the GOAT!!! Her influence and impact on the rap game is undeniable, and her legacy deserves so much more credit and respect!
Big Up for showing Get You Home love. I loved hat song as a 5 Year Old Child when it 1st dropped & I love it just as Much Now. STILL holds the test of time today 🔥🔥🔥
Foxy had a nice run and I definitely feel her irractic/crazy attitude in my opinion kept her from being alot bigger and receiving her flowers she deserve
Exactly, you can fuck up your whole life acting like that. Cardi needs to be careful too but I feel like she’s finally wising up but who knows. Hiphop is unfortunately one of those genres of music where being self destructive is rewarded but when you’re trying to branch out and grow in your career being combative and nutty will be a liability
@@dinkyboss as someone who worked with someone who eventually went deaf, more than likely she was progressively losing her hearing , and that couldn explain her temper becuase it affects your brain activity and your balance, i watch back and i noticed she'd stumble and i just thought it was her style but maybe it was her going deaf and losing balance
How does one just awakened without hearing? That had to be a traumatic experience for her. I just wish she would've had surgery sooner. She deserves all her Flowers!
Now this is one I been waiting on. I love Foxy Brown. Beautiful Female and a good Rapper, but with how she came off with her reputation, you see why she's blackballed from the industry
Sad thing is that stunt number 3 has affected so many could/would be legends who for whatever reason couldn’t adapt 80s baby I’m biased to the 90s🤷🏾♂️
I love foxy till this day I actually talked to her via dm ur video is spot on thank u for this I say we don’t see foxy get her flowers like she should have.
Yes love Foxy if we talking all time top 5 period! You always bring the best content! But if your starting to do more female rappers as well , just a few suggestions ... Eve, Brat , Mia X & Remy plz & thnx!
Ill Na Na was and is a certified hip hop classic!! The whole album was 🔥 but that Get You Home, the Setup interlude, and the Promise had your boy in the smash!!
I think you should do Remy Ma too. Even though she had has some success before and after her prison stint, that really did held her back from what she could have potentially accomplished.
Ok i changed my mind. Now i miss when u used to say “essgetitman” instead of “lets get it man” lol love your channel brother, great content! I can watch these videos all day 💯
I take the Naked Truth by Lil Kim as #1 n Broken Silence as #2. Lil Kim went to prison on that album and spoke on so much real stuff that any real one from the streets can relate to. Songs like Slipping, Last Day, Durty, All Good. She murdered. But Foxys 730, The Letter, BK Anthem, BS Intro, Oh Yea and just so many others from that album is a close #1 n some of the songs do out do Kim but its a matter of subject matter. I done been to prison and songs like Slipping by Kim is a testimony only a nigga behind bars can relate to.
@@TheBlkBoiGeorge naked truth was nothing more than Broken Silence. It seems that Kim did everything Fox did but put a Sex spin on it. A raunchy spin while Fox Broken Silence was a classic no naked nothing, Kim always talking about body parts to sell her BS,... Fox All damn day and night and Kim knows it, that why she doesn't want no Vz battle with Fox. Kim want a vz battle with everybody else but Foxy. Stop just stop 🛑!!!
Once I purchased her album… And saw S. Carter(Jay-Z) on all the writing credits.. I never took her serious after that… Always thought she was bad though! Look wise!
Not to mention...if you write a bar or two on a song, you get writing credits. She still may have wrote majority of her stuff....an he may have contributed just enough to get a credit.
All? You need to stop! Her first album S. CARTER only appears on 5 radio/commercial songs which defjam paid him to write. Her name is fully credited on the other 5 tracks and even Havoc stated himself they both wrote their verses right there on the spot when they had their studio session. On Chyna Doll she wrote every song but Jay cowrote on 5. Broken Silence she wrote every single song. Ya like to say all her joints are written by others when her album booklets show different. Not to mention. There's also ascap and her name is on 90% of her songs...
He shouldn’t be on no song period if you a real MC!… Yall trying to give her a pass cause she a woman… To quote the great Rah Digga! I write all my rhymes… Foxy didn’t end of discussion!
Of course Foxy Brown is in the top 10 best female rap artists(along with the other greats): MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Da Brat, Yo Yo, Eve, Lil Kim, Monie Love, Remy Ma, and Left Eye.
U're right. But the're 1 things she cudda done were she cudda Pontentially been the Female GOAT Rapper. 2 Simple Things. Ill Na Na 2 & the Lil Kim & Foxy Brown Joint Album "Thelma & Louise"
Foxxy: Nasty as I wanna be Jay Z : Don't shake your grown ass in front of me ...before I take it out there and blow your back out ! Foxxy: That shit ain't happened since They put the Mack out! I never understood why Jay Z and Foxxy did not put out that Bonnie & Clyde album..they had a great chemistry but I guess the Firm affliation with AZ and Nas looked like it was a better business move especially when Dr Dre got involved.. she scored some huge hits during her run and sold a lot of records...platinum back to back ...most artists these days are barely going gold and the 360 deals are like being a sharecropper.. She was doing big things...the first time most people heard her...she was with LL Cool J and Jay Z ...she did songs with him on Reasonable Doubt, My Lifetime Vol I, and Vol II
In 2002 she wanted to leave def jam but lyor refused to let her go. Puff offered to be executive producer of her then upcoming fourth album "ILL Na Na 2:The Fever" she accepted. It was after this where the problems occurred. Contractually she signed to puff alongside def jam but she had her own label through def jam but they wasn't planning on making it an equal split between all parties so she asked to leave and was refused at first ... eventually through court proceedings she left. Her and 112 were traded to the other label with shitty splits rates!
Her behavior didn't do her any favors. I hate when I don't know if a female is truly nice, or not. Jay, and/or Nas wrote a lot of her stuff, and when they didn't, you could totally tell. It's rumored that Nas wrote the I Shot Ya verse. Then, that short time where it was obvious that her, and her brother were clearly trying to be their own version of Puff and Kim wasn't a good look at all. I think by the time the Hearing Loss happened, it was a wrap in her being a force in the Industry, because by that time, her and her peers moments had passed, and Hip Hop had moved on from them.
FOXY BOGGIE BRIWN IS HARD AS HELL / BODY ANYBODY I DONT CARE WHO YOU TELL .... I was instantly hooked ... I kept a Foxy poster on my wall & kept a Foxy bar ready for anyone who tried to act like she wasn't #1 ( just like I do with Nicki) ... every Source & Vibe article on Foxy stayed in a box next to my bday cards from my g'ma ... so yes I was/am a Foxy Stand. As a brown skin bossy gal Foxy was the VIBE If anyone that can pull it off its FB. Im gonna steam her work this weekend & Vibe out✌🏾💙
