I backed it yesterday. It’s my first ever time to back something and I’m hyped to get it. Never played the United system so fingers crossed it all works out 😀.
I never played united system either, but watched gameplay looks super fun,a nd something my kids would love to play too. I feel like i have 2 options. Going base pledge with one expansion (no way not getting arkham) probably plastic tokens and playmat , , or saying screw it and get everything including all the bling and paying like $600..
@harmarize I have a lot of marvel united I had to buy after the campaigne...so it costed way more. The system is amazing and easy for kids. I bet you'll play it more because it has it's complex sides as well. The all in will be an incredible buy. But the components are so good it's hard for me to recommend the plastic tokens and cardboard locations. You could get the playmat but if you have any playmat at home you really don't need it. Hope this helps. Warning this game is like Crack once you start getting in....
I was late to the United game system. I think I bought the first Marvel United and X-Men just before they announced the Multiverse. I think I have all expansions that went to retail, then bought a few exclusive expansions on The Game Steward. They have hooked me hard on this, and I backed the DC. Not going all in, but I did get about half of the expansions, and I'm hoping to recoup some or most of my investment selling some of the stretch goal items on eBay.
Thanks for the insight, wasn’t planning on getting the conqueror, but after seeing your video I realized that I can afford it, and if for some reason I don’t like something, I can get rid of it latter, rather than spend some pretty penny to get something I missed in the future.
Yes. Absolutely. To me it is the best season yet. Heroes finally look as unique as they should, passives, trigger later cards and equipments. We have all the cool modes (pvp, vs6 villains, add boss miniature challenge). Sidekicks! Also a prelude mission (patrol night) with no villains to give you bonus or penalties before the villain fight. And for me, there's a big improvement to the commander solo mode, instead of mixing 4 hero cards, you can just have the one hero plus the "generic" human support deck ORRR use the Ally mode, which adds AI control to other heroes. However, if you already have 3 seasons of marvel, I think you can safely skip this.
I didn't back Marvel United Season 1 & Season 2 and only went in on Marvel United Season 3 - this meant I spent a lot of money to get Season 1 & 2 after the fact!
I'm doing core box for now, with plans to add the Batman expansions in the pledge manager. I do not like how CMON is locking exclusives behind the all in.
I agree about them locking major characters behind expansions. I will order the core set and some expansions but I am passing on the green lantern corps account Hal Jordan is locked behind the other green lantern expansion. That’s OK I already have the previous 3 united waves. In fact just received notice my Marvel United just shipped and should arrive this Thursday.
There is a retail exclusive core box, that has been teased but not fully announced. This is similar to what they did with Spider-Geddon from Marvel United.
Seems like the all in rewards have been getting better with each campaign, they went from Adam warlock to Old man Logan to Fing Fang Foom and now its Batmoble and Starro. Cmon really wants to bump up the all in pledge numbers.
backed for core+teens+arkham+suicide squad, will wait for metropolis and gotham when release, i think the kickstarter will only be english, i am french so will need some french ones for people who don't understand english
I backed the Titans pledge. Along with Gotham City,and Arkham Blackout. I do plan on getting Metropolis and some of the smaller extras in,and I hope CMON does one, Late Pledge.
I backed a lot of exclusives for DCeased, so I guess I'm just going to back Super Friends and Justice Society, since most of my games is CO-OP and therefor would be interesting to get some PVP action. Might perhaps also get suicide squad
Have plenty of S1 and S2 with some S3 on the way (didn’t all in, got Galactus and maximum carnage and civil war). Don’t plan on backing, however, I might pick up one or two of the retail boxes in the future. Having a Batman Spider-Man team up would be neat
I shouldn't and I won't, but glad people are getting their DC Heroes! I still want updates to my X-men though... want to give them money for card update packs lol
This is the one game that my wife and I will play with everything. So im not afriad of backing all expansions. Ive backed games like Zombiecide Green Horde where i didn't use very much from the extras.
I was wondering if I should get the base game and an expansion at the beginning of the campaign, but now after I've seen how many add-ons there are and how the price has skyrocketed, I'm not buying anything. If I didn't get every expansion the game would feel incomplete to me because I know that there's more and I can't afford having more... I know that I'm in minority, but I'm sick of all of these games having 10 different backer exclusive add-ons.
Not backing, Have the All-in OG campaign and I’ve got Multiverse pledge coming soon - Not the biggest DC fan (love Batman though) I’ll just pick up the core, Breakout and Gotham city boxes when they come to retail at 25-30 dollars a pop with free shipping on amazon (instead of paying 50+ for shipping through the campaign). Missing out on Mr. Freeze and Commish Gordon but they aren’t worth the $100 extra for me.
To paint a more honest picture….Alex is not just “an employee” at Gamefound, he is an executive. Their Chief Marketing Officer. And CMON is likely one of, if not his most, important partners/clients. Although posted behind his personal capacity, I would consider this video, titled “Should you Back DC United,” as marketing material for a game found on his platform. Not doubting the game (I’m a Marvel All In 3x guy) …. just thought that would be important to share with the recent videos he’s posted about trying to straddle the line of transparency, work, and play.
I know in a video he did last week he talked about the fact that he can't expect people to have watched all his past videos, from both before and post GF employment. But to give some insight from someone who HAS been around with Alex for several years now, he has been a CMON fanboy, especially the Marvel United games, since the beginning. It's been one of his Top Games for several years now. So this isn't new sentiment.
yeah I am always sceptical, but in this case Alex was a huge fanboy of CMON and United many years before working for gamefound, so I dont really see it as a conflict of interest.
I think Alex does a great job keeping things as clean as possible. I have seen him for years and his point about United is about holding its value which is true.
Alex it is not like 600 or so dollars. It is more like a 425 dollars plus shipping 41 so it is more like 466. The plastic tokens and thicker cardboard (locations and villains) and painting guide are not needed. Yet, if someone got those, now is the time to get them as they will only be more expensive or harder to get later or not available. So if that matters then get them and if so then yes it would be worth adding. You might get the game thinking 'I should have gotten the thicker cardboard' or the plastic tokens. If you are going to play this game a lot, and have all manner of people handling your tokens the plastic tokens probably are a good thing to get. Personally, I won't be doing that so I won't be getting that. In the end, 466 vs 600 is the difference between getting the game and not getting a few extra, but still getting 'all the things' that are gameplay related.
I thought it'd hit three, but it looks to hit $4mil! I can upgrade to the all in at the same price later right? My exchange rate compared to last month is almost $5 to every $100, so if I wait I could possibly save $20-50.
The hardest part is that my favorite thing is probably the campaign decks which needs a lot of the content. That said, I think my two favorite expansions would be suicide squad and Arkham asylum

The ability for me to have DC heroes and villains team up and face off against Marvel ones is the big reason I'm here. Not all-in though. I got all-in on Marvel 1 and 2 and skipped Multiverse in anticipation for DC. Now that it's here it's time for me to open my wallet and unhinge my jaw and shove all these board games down my gullet.
I am getting the all in and the playmat for sure. Do you recommend getting the tokens and boards? I know they dont add to the game play but are they "worth it"?
I really recommend the cardboard location tiles as they're WAY more durable than the card stock ones, but best of all you have easy access to tons of locations without having to dig through your boxes to pull them out. The villain cardboards aren't as necessary, they're nice but not super useful compared to the locations. I've skipped all the plastic tokens, the cardboard ones you get are perfectly fine!
I really like the cardboard and the plastic personally. Not necessary in the slightest and does add heft to the game (especially with the cardboard). It's totally playable without them, I just personally prefer the extra durability and playability that comes with them. I prefer the cardboard tiles/boards over the plastic.
The cardboard is nice. Not sure what to do about the tokens as the newest Marvel batch had a huge drop in quality compared to the previous ones in the Xmen Campaign.
Why waste money on 'perfectly functional' thinner location boards and put upgraded 'thicker' as an add on when that should have been a Stretch goal which benefits more people. Sure, it means one less character stretch goal but in the end so what. I do see that if someone got this game they could play out their Super Friends fantasies, as long as Toy Man is a stretch goal. You have to be able to re-create the Legion of Doom and the Super Friends version of The Justice League so where is that Tornado Samurai guy and Apache Chief who gets really big. If i made this game you'd get characters like that, as you get Captain Cold, Cheetah and others.
The carboard adds a significant about of bulk, so they would not be able to fit in the boxes they've designed for retail. They would have to design 2 different sets of inserts, which likely isn't worth it for them.
I still haven't opened mine. I got the basic set and laminated them first, which worked great so laminated the expansions. The cards probably don't sit as flat on the thicker card, which could make picking up cards easier, but possibly curl them. ..
You talk about the secondary market, but only mention eBay. Stores like The Game Steward have all/most promos/Kickstarter exclusives for dozens of CMON games for way less. Is there some sort of back-channel manufacturer deal with CMON there? eBay at this point is the last place I look for CMON rarities…. The whole thing just seems odd.
I think eBay is best if you want one particular character from a set because they always have people selling them individually, but yes, The Game Steward is a good place to find Kickstarter exclusives at a fair after market value.
I've bought from the game steward before, and I think you're exaggerating on how low their prices are across the board... You can pretty easily sell almost any KS exclusive from ANY popular game (especially a CMON, AR, etc) and make most of your pledge back for the content you want to keep, even if you aren't pricing ludicrously which is the point he's making. I think trying to flip KS deals is a horrible way to invest, but it's a good way to supplement getting a discount or finding a good deal on a game down the line.
For CMON promos specifically, they’re really competitive, if not out right cheaper. Look at any of the Death May Die promos for example. 50% less in many cases w/reasonable shipping and no “reliability” factor. What I don’t understand is where do they get their stock? Comics v.1 stuff, for example. Did they come across a warehouse full of it or something? Or is CMON is in them to sell into the market at a bottom price to keep the scalpers at bay? Yes, full KS games are expensive everywhere and GS isn’t that much different than eBay. For promos and add-ons though, something is different…
@@morgaknightgames that was my initial thought. Thing is many of those showed up LONG after the close of the campaigns. Blood Rage for example… They ended up with full stock of addons years later. Where did those come from? Are they reprints?
I’m tired of this Kickstarter culture and would rather like it to collapse back into reasonably produced and priced games. We’ll see if that ever happens.
I love DC, I wanted to like this game and but the art is too cute for me, and the game mechanics looks really simple. A month ago, I went with Grimcoven, and that game and Awaken realms got so much hate from people, while this game just passed 3 million dollar and get no real critics in any video.
This game is simple and easy to explain, play and get to the table. Heroes, Villains and game modes only get better every season. Don’t see many needs to criticise a lot tbh. :)
