Should You Back Marvel United Multiverse by CMON and Spin Master Games? In this video, that's exactly what I'll be talking about. If you want to check out the Kickstarter for yourself you can find it here: bit.ly/3GUENC4
I very much agree with a point of recognizeable characters. Original campaign had the most popular roster, X-man had great core and a bunch of stretch goals I didn't care about. I'm counting fir them to rerelease some od the older stretch goals, but In the "worst" case I pick up core from retailer. 😉
I appreciate the sober and accurate thoughts. As you say, the FOMO is strong with CMON campaigns, and I need all the help I can get resisting. The new gameplay mechanics are probably great, it's hard not to covet all those juicy characters, and I legitimately have had good times playing the original game with my daughter. But we also haven't even opened the X-Men sequel yet. And I'm not that fast at painting minis, to be able to reasonably take on as many new ones as this campaign (gloriously) provides.
I just came across this campaign, and was excited for it, so I was a bit sad that you didn't recommend it. However, you do make a lot of really good points, so I have some thinking to do. Thank you for putting together videos like this.
Personally I was burnt out before this 1-2 decade (movie-driven) resurgence happened. I'm amazed how long they've managed to milk the superhero genre, something that always feels cliche-riddled to me.
Also having a harder time given the roster of characters this time, although some people are totally going nuts over them. Makes me feel like I'm not a real Marvel fan, but rather, a filthy casul.
If you’re a filthy casual then so am I, although I am recognising more characters in the expansions but there are definitely more characters I don’t know than do.
I agree with you, however I’m not only a completionist but also a collector. So for me I’m getting everything, though it’s unlikely I’ll back anything new this year. Already have enough games for the foreseeable future.
I recently got into the game and really enjoy it so im backing. Might not go all in depending on what expansions are announced but it's likely I will. I'm hoping they also end up offering some or all previous KS exclusive boxes.
I really shouldn't (I already got everything from seasons one and two) and it's a massive amount of shelf space taking up. I'll probably will (although not the full pledge though)
@@shouldyoubackit Played a few times solo and enjoyed painting some minis. Looks like fun to play with my son in the future when he's old enough though I'm not really interested in the new characters (most of them are too obsure for me, and plenty of minis left to paint in my previous pledges) but I'm mostly interesting in the new gameplay mechanics/ alternative solo play (although I guess I can simply download the new solo rules as it's backwards compatible right?)
It’s one I may put a dollar into to get the pledge manager. But at the same time if I want to get into Marvel United I may do just what I said and pick up the first game.
You can start with this one. Each season the game gets better and more complex. The ironclad marvel United game kind of sucks IMHO. you need the stretch goals and then it becomes amazing.
Strongly disagree The characters are very recognisable in this campaign, especially to anyone who has read marvel comics or watches any MCU content. Secondly the sheer value for the core plus stretch goals and then adding Galactus is amazing value for money in terms of gameplay and sheer amount of minifigs (a painters dream). Marvel United KS exclusive content only increases in value so it is an easy resell. I wouldn’t recommend most add ons to those who are not heavily invested in this game or universe. But I genuinely don’t get why you didn’t recommend the core pledge plus stretch goals plus Galactus. But people will make up their own minds. I just don’t think you have a very balanced or objective opinion in this case.
The resale value has always been much higher on this game. Try to get Sinister six Infinity guantlet Fantastic four Days of futre past And you will see what I mean.
The multiverse stuff they're pushing now through the shows and movies and now this are pretty off-putting. It comes off as desperation to me, with notes of fanfiction. Not very appealing.
I think there was a big red light for CMON when they fired their auditors for not signing off their accounts. Their new HK auditors did eventually sign off, but that should have been a great concern. Time moves on, and CMON have had their usual mix of big IP / minis / big marketing, but also seemingly commercial successes. Maybe they are out of the danger zone now. Given their consistently poor comms post campaign, multiple campaigns o/s, absolute stitch-up of backers for Marvel Zombies on shipping, I'd always view them as risky. However that risk worth it if the IP / game really calls to someone.
This is the first video I’ve watched of yours. Your argument makes no sense. ‘I don’t know the characters in the campaign-so you shouldn’t back it’. The characters in the first two seasons were more recognizable, but does that mean that season 3 will be any less awesome or fun to play? On the contrary this season looks to introduce even more gameplay modes and unique twists on the formula. You just made this video to try to be controversial and get more views.
You’re entirely entitled to express that opinion. Do note that I didn’t say that I didn’t know the characters, I stated that they aren’t as well known as in the other entries which is something that’s valid to think of when looking at the ability to sell it on. This isn’t a controversial opinion I’ve cooked up but rather one that has been expressed by other creators and on the forums that I am simply also voicing as valid.
