I started buying Morgans for a while, and then stopped when I realized I didn't have a plan or enough knowledge on them. So much to learn, so thanks for putting together a nice video to point out some of the things you look for on these beautiful coins!
Thanks WB 😊yeah definitely have to be some what educated not granted I’m also not the best with numismatics but I know what to search before making that purchase
I'm working on a stack of 20 B-UC Morgans. When I'm done with that, I want a couple of CC Morgan's. I have over 300oz in the safe, so I'm getting what I like now.
I got my first morgan as a gift from my grandfather years ago and so the other day I bought 3 more because theyre a very interesting coin I like or the new orleans mint is apparently a meuseum now so there is so much history built into them. They came out after the civil war and then before ww1 they stopped and then they made them one more year after. They made a lot but many were destroyed melted etc. Or theyre worn down. And when you break them dowm by years and mints there actually isnt all that many of even the larger runs. Tbe runs of 100k 400k coins are unaffordable but for someone like me who cant afford gold they are good coins because they are 77% silver but becsuse of the historical relavence and the want and not being in mint anymore, they cost more, but arent unaffordable like a buffalo ounce.
In the last 3 years I have bought a bunch of 90% silver...glad I did as it is rising and will rise faster than 999 fine. It's the most recognizable silver out there and its beautiful! I love it all, but my favorite is the 1964 JFK halves...get it while you can!
90% makes up id say at least 40% of my silver stack, love junk silver. Exactly tho there won’t be much soon or it will be so expensive on premiums that people won’t have the money for , and same goes to pre 33 gold 👊🏻
Cool content , I like the Morgan's design , but i like them more when they are clean and cheap so i get the rounds instead. To be honest the tone i don't mind , some can be cool I got a few myself buy lately i favor the rounds instead , they are cheaper and pure silver. I'm a bit of both but lean towards the stacking and accumulating more with a decent portion of govt minted and numismatics in the stack. You have to pick your poison , i feel like the premiums on eagles are toxic enough lol
I’m with you I myself is mostly a stacker I love my 10oz, kilo bars and govt coins as well my 90% . I do treat myself and buy high grade Morgan’s and vintage silver from tkme to time .
American eagles are good for business transactions I think. For when you want to pay a guy one or 2 or more. Morgans are good in terms of actual investment I think. Better now than than ever.
those are pretty morgans....i have a few (cull) morgans , ive never paid over 35 bucks for....i want a CC morgan but waiting to find a deal..and now after seeing your toned morgans imma look for a deal on a toned morgan now..GL!
I still buy the Morgans in Raw if the price is right and I do buy Slabbed Morgans I love to collect them too but for Raw the price has to be right too many cleaned ones roaming around people try to pass off as trouble free and want way to much for them.
It’s hard to bring myself to buy raw for the same reason you just mentioned but also the fact that it’s so expensive now for raw so I’ll just pay the extra for Mint state Morgan’s 😎👊🏻🇺🇸
@@MAGASTACKER I just grabbed a roll of them in XF Raw for $25 per so that price I won't get hurt they want $33 for Culls in My area and these are not bad.
I buy two Morgan's every month and actually bought four Morgan's last month. And I'm not a Collector. You can tell I'm not a Collector because I've cleaned somewhere around one hundred Morgan's. I have no rules.
@@HistoricMetals Before I explain to you how you are probably wrong. Go watch my last video cleaning a "LOW GRADE" Morgan. Some Morgan's are already devalued so much cleaning then does not change the value at all. Read the comment! I am not a Collector and do not have the same values as Collectors do. On top of that I follow The Book ! it is well covered in my videos. Find something wrong in my cleaning videos and get back to me.. You know AU54 is not cost effective for grading a Morgan, Right ?
@@BrotherLove76 I'm sure my granddaughter loves the super clean Indian Head Pennies I bring her. Her Morgan's are super clean and six coins high so far. Sometimes when I'm tempted to down some beers I clean Indian Head Pennies instead. It's like Breaking The Law" LOL
@@TobaccoRowe1960 nope it's you that's wrong. Because you are either paying too much for silver by buying Morgan's at morgan premiums that are not worth grading and then you're definitely ruining them by cleaning in the resale market. There's absolutely no one on Earth that will disagree with that, except you apparently. Facts are facts. Ask any coin dealer on Earth if you should clean a coin every single one of them will tell you no. Ask any dealer or experienced person if you should buy cleaned coins, and again the answer will always be no. Ruin your s*** that's your prerogative but don't act like a pompous dick about something that you're clearly wrong about to every human being in the business on Earth. If you want to sound and look ignorant, keep making videos cleaning coin and ruining them.
@@MAGASTACKER awesome actually got a 1921 Morgan and a 1930 standing liberty and a 1914 barbra quarter and some 1800s Indian head pennies and coal script today im a big fan of walking libertys also bro
It's funny that you're releasing this video today, because I just bought some American coins, including my very first Morgan Dollar. I understand better why Americans love this piece so much. On the other hand, it's not the most beautiful piece in the world, it's the second (I'm going to make some enemies 😅). That said, you have a very nice set.
I do love the Morgan and Peace Dollars but I just can't bring myself to pay those high prices when I don't have my base weight up to my goal of 1000 Oz's. I'm sure but the time I'm there they'll be even more expensive but I feel once I'm at 1000 Oz's of silver I can afford to buy what I like. Great info though. I'll have to learn how to check their listed prices because I never know when a price is good or not. Thanks man
I have a oddly toned cc morgan I really have no lcs( i call,no one answers??) No clue.anyway can i send you a pic of the weird toning,my guess a ender.toned top toned bottom.i have other toned morgans ,nothing like this one.😮
just subscribed to you!! I got burned pretty hard recently buying a GSA 1882-cc morgan from a very well known youtube channel JB coins and was sold a cleaned morgan that would never straight grade even in the holder. check out the video and let me know what you think because just like you i absolutely love the Morgan design but after this purchase i have a bitter taste in my mouth from it especially after the response i just got in regards to sending the coin back to them for a refund which might not even happen?
Thank you for the sub my friend 😊 and dude I’m sorry to hear that , I’ll make sure not to visit that channel. I have some very expensive high end Morgans all Carson city’s if you are interested you can shoot me a email it’s Patrioticstacker@gmail.com
Would not 1921 Morgan be great to stack? I have numismatics too but 1921 is very low cost compared to other dates on some outlets and it’s still a Morgan. Really it’s a glorified Peace Dollar the way I see it, but it’s a Morgan.
@@MAGASTACKER 1886 p 1887 p 1904 o all MS grades. That's it for pcgs and ngc at the moment. I got a ton I need to get graded most notably a xf 1895 o and a 1896 p I'm hoping gets a 67 grade. My dad also has a bunch of pcgs graded Morgans. He collects and is a pcgs member. I know he sells om ebay also. If your serious lmk I can give you a price on any coin and we can pick a safe market place to do the transaction on. I can think of several safe and well known sites just not sure who is cheapest on fees.
*The entire point or purpose of "investing" in ANYTHING is to make money. To do that, you have to be able to sell the item you purchased for more than you bought it for. With today's Buyer Premiums and Inflation, "More" can be a bit arbitrary but taken within that context, in today's market, since the invention of entities like Ebay & RU-vid, (smell the irony)...Morgan Silver Dollars are indeed a bad investment. Unless you're finding them buried in a back yard or an old attic somewhere. Nobody is melting SIlver Dollars down for silver these days, so any "rarity" anyone is trying to sell them on is a fallacy. The Silver Dollars that exist today are going to be here tomorrow. Not to mention the Coin Collecting Hobby , has been shrinking & contracting for the last several decades and there's no sign that's going to change.. INCREASING THE VALUE of your Asset AKA-MAKING MONEY on any Silver or Gold Dollar, including the Key Dates is very difficult, and for everyone but the most connected & savvy Investor, all but impossible*
