Yes, I forgot about the Game Boy Color emu when listing the emulators and then mentioned it right after, I'm sorry for this error, please forgive me adiokgjeioghw
Your channel is such a gem. I really enjoy seeing other weirdos be just as obsessive over the smallest things possible as I am. The DSi is a great system!
Your videos all have such a nice chill vibe to them. Love your stuff! I’m so excited to see what other content you’ll make in the future! Keep up the amazing work!
I saw your other video about buying from Japan a while ago, but this time I subscribed. Great video. I found a working DSi at a flea market in Barelona for 10€ and it only had a broken volume rocker. The touch screen even had a screen protector on. I will CFW it and get a big SD card.
DSLite always gets all the love but when it comes to homebrew and hacking it's not even to comparable to what the DSi offers. I pretty much always have my DSi with me when I go outside. I use it mostly for JRPGs, playing NES Tetris (although the resolution is a bit janky) and also reading ebooks using dslibris because who needs a kindle : ) (cries in no money)
just stumbled on your channel and was a bit surprised to see this, the DSi feels like such a forgotten console at times... It's cool to see someone so excited over something you've worked a lot on!
Love Japanese DSis. Back in 2019, you could get PERFECT condition DSi XLs (with styluses and batteries) for like $25. It was awesome. Now it's about $30 with $20 shipping, mostly.
Haha 50hz completely ruins the experience. Can't believe we had to play our favorite games slowed down in Europe. At least most them. Nice video and I like the new intro.
Just bought a DSi with an R4, only if I had viewed your video before hahah I feel so dumb now, at least includes a 32gb DS card. I didn't know about that mario 64, it's so cool! Keep up doing funny videos like this, greetings from chile
The dsi is one of the best homebrew and emulator machines out there, there is just so much stuff, there is even a 286 dos emulator that i used to play planet x3 (and a few tracker software) on it. and there is also a uC linux port to it
Every time I watch one of your videos I end up wanting to buy more retro tech. At least I already have a Famicom so it shouldn't cost me too much to add a DSi next time I buy games from Japan.
Years upon years ago, before I homebrewed my 3DS, I was only able to do any homebrew at all in it in DS mode with a flash cart, and PCE/TG-16 emulation on it was pretty good! it's like, the only 16 bit stuff that runs well, even with minor graphical issues and inaccurate sound emulation, but there's a bunch of really good games like Street Fighter II, Magical Chase, Soldier Blade, Dragon's Curse and Bomberman '94 that are totally worth playing on the DS! I didn't have an SD card big enough to get into the CD games at the time though, but I imagine they should have no real issues running on the DSi, and you'd get to play Castlevania Rondo of Blood that way, which is a frickin' masterpiece!
since the DS hardware is based off the GBA, leading to perfect backwards compatibility, the 3DS which has a DS inside of it is theoretically compatible, but it wasn't really used by Nintendo :(. Same case for the same for the GameCube and Wii U, at least we have Nintendon't and GBArunner2
Have you seen the latest version of DSI Language Patcher on GBATemp? There is also hiyalang in the same thread for patching hiyacfw, I plan to test these when my JPN DSi arrives.
A 3ds also counts IMO because you get the same usability, with better emulators. Yet you can still run twilight from the 3ds menu and have 100% compatibility
I bought a dsi that was pretty much the exact same as yours (white, no battery, and even yellowed white stylus) and I’ve got it unlaunched, and I wish it was 9 bucks, but it was probably more because it was imported from Japan to the USA and then resold (but it was the cheapest dsi on eBay). Also I bought it before coming across this video which was a funny coincidence
I love your humour, and you have a cool personality I can't find this console at such a low price, however; all the DSi's I can find on eBay start at least at $40 I'll just keep an eye out, I love the Nintendo DS systems and hopefully I too can snag a good deal like this
This is such a great video. I just ordered one yesterday! Did you ever end up finding some kind of case that fits this console? I know the dimensions are a bit longer than the DS/3ds and was just curious.
I love my Japanese dsi with twilight menu. HOWEVER, I still keep and use my r4 for certain things on my ds lite instead for editing pokemon things using real carts but with homebrew apps in the r4. Editing a physical pokemon gba cart obviously isn't possible on DSi. But for everything ds related, DSI WITH TWILIGHT IS AMAZING ✨
You're funny!!! Genuinely laughed all through the video. I'm wondering though, you say that importing from Japan is generally cheaper, but does that account for customs etc? Europe wants you to pay taxes if you even THINK about importing something.
I was planning on buying 3DS from japan to serbia. Where do you live, and how much did the shipping cost you? and do you have any advices for buying stuff from Japan?
*Most* DS games are not region-locked; the only US games that will not run on a Japanese DSi are games that utilize DSi-specific features. Usually these are marked as DSi-exclusive games, although some (like Solatorobo) do not require a DSi to boot but, are region-locked just the same.
this is why I love my R4 card... I can do pretty much ANYTHING with it movies games music but I don't like phones even though you really kinda need one of those things if anything happens or need anything.... But... if I don't have my laptop or tablet with me at the moment I can go to my all in one.... MY DS WITH AND R4 CARD! I can get a few shows games songs and also recently I figured out how to read books on my DS with my R4 card what a magical little bootleg gadget I love it soo much
Franksteining the Japanese motherboard into the American parts and getting a clear shell for my dsi once I get it hacked I'm getting the English translation mod for it and I have my dsi fuses so once I get a hold of a proper working soldering iron it'll be up and running
1:22 Every morning, I wake up, eat PALcakes, brush my teeth, change my clothes, ask my PAL if I can play games with him on my PAL TV, and then I watch TV with my PAL on my PAL TV, and then I talk to my PAL about how I hate NTSC. And I would love to ban NTSC, and enforce my own standard, PALLY, which runs on 5HTZ.
I love your channel ♡♡♡ I need help with my dsi xl, so it's modded but i hate the the snes and nes emulator proposed by twilight menu how can i add other emulators (i don't use r4 cards) And please can you make a tutorial for the neods mine is stuck at "no banking needed" ://// ( i'm tryikg to run it from the sd card) Again i love your videos they are soooooooooo fun to watch
I was looking for a way to play n64 games on my jailbroken new 3ds xl and was greeted by a wall that said, "sorry, it's basically not possible" and here you are in 2021 on a dsi playing n64 flawlessly??
Not sure what your asking but if your asking “does changing the system language change the game language too?” The answer is no, all games play in the language that they are. If your asking if the games play even if they’re a different region (Like say a Japanese game on American console) then yes, DS is region free any game can be played on any console
Does anyone know what accessories like cases are compatible with DSi (i.e. 3DS 3DS XL etc) ? I don't care if it covers the camera. Already done the hack on a DSi my brother gave me for my birthday. Thanks for the vid! Thinking about doing a shell swap now.
Honestly in my experience GBARunner is kinda just... not that good Duke Nukem and Ghost Rider just had very different issues making them unplayable ... maybe it's my fault for having this kinda taste in games...
is this becoming a running joke with a different country every time we are going to reach a point where we end up with no countries left and have to make up our own ones
