My mom just purchased one of these to replace a 14 year old G37. The extra room and ease of use were selling points but she didn't want a reduction in power. She is 75 years old and this is perfect.

I purchased a Limited a week ago. I like the looks of this vehicle, it looks like nothing else out there, and I like that. It is attaining above EPA mileage estimates so far. The ride is very comfortable, and the inside of the cabin is very quiet. I am extremely happy with my Crown.
Hi Mr. Car care, I was wondering if you could answer the difference between the models? I live in Canada and the choices are crown XLE, crown XLE with limited package and the crown max. I am a senior in my 70’s and was thinking about a crown, the prices are very high, almost too high. My choice would be the XLE Limited, if I bought one, or a new Camry XlE hybrid. I now have a 2018 Camry XLE hybrid with 85000 km, just over 50,000 miles. I really enjoy watching your shows, enjoy that you tell it like it is. Looking forward to your comments, and ideas of best thing to do.
Ya thanks 4 letting us know from someone who actually purchased it and drove the vehicle! MY comment above as such, "Crown car used to be luxury sedan even high-ranking Japanese diplomats droved; glad it came back! USA
It looks awesome. has a big presence on the road. The Crown is back! Toyota quality and reliability🤩 Made in Japan!!!! Crown Platinum is the way to go. great features.
Saw this car in recent local news in LA . being stolen off a dealer lot and crashing through some metal gates without shuddering or losing a side mirror. The thief drove through two gates and went sailing down Santa Monica Blvd. First time I was impressed by this car
What a dummy for stealing this pile of 'technology' Pick something that will have some future value to it. This machine will be passed over like a cold hamburger.
I think it lost the side right mirror when it crashed through the gate when it went into the mainroad in front of the camera. But then again it’s made in Japan so I’m not too impressed. Still impressed though. Perhaps we all know on the inside that Toyota is going down the planned obsolescence route nowadays so much that we are impressed?
I personally love it. Absolutely loved the older Avalon, the ride and comfort was on a different level, even though I was in my early thirties and I could not understand why people thought it was for old folks. Went on a trip with some friends and they were amazed at how good it was. I cried when I heard it was being discontinued but this looks like an improvement. I definitely love this and hope to buy one. Thanks for your videos 💯
I like this car, and think it has great features. It was one of the new vehicles I considered, but the price imo is inflated. I ended up buying a Camry XSE AWD.
The other day I got 40mpg on the highway when driving home from work. I was astonished Mines a 2020 XSE v6 but even 4 years later I’ve yet to find a Toyota or Lexus that’s objectively better than the Camry. So far only the lc500 is better than the Camry
I purchased a Toyota Crown Limited in April of this year. Having driven it for 6 months, I can confidently say that I love this car. It drives so smooth, it's comfortable, very fuel efficient (compared to my previous ford edge sport), and it is technologically advanced. I am consistently getting 46-52 mpg on my daily drives to and from school, which is fantastic. I live about 45 minutes from the university, so I needed an economical car to cut down on gas expenses. The crown has certainly done that for me. The real selling point for me though was the overall design of the car. It's stunning, bold, and so unique. I opted for the heavy metal color which in my opinion is one of the best looking silver colors I've seen on a car. It's dynamic and multifaceted in different lighting conditions. I know this car is being marketed for an older demographic, which I do not understand to be honest. Being 25, I think the overall design of the car is appealing to young adults. At least it definitely was for me when I was looking for a new car to purchase. I test drove many Hondas, Hyundais, Kias, and even a Tesla. But none of them compared to the feeling when I arrived at the toyota dealership and saw the crown for the first time. It instantly caught my eye. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase. This is my first ever Toyota and I am very satisfied with the brand thus far.
Wow... 25 years old and already buying a $50k car. While I'm 35 and homeless in my shitty Ford Focus full of mechanical problems that was mostly paid for by my dad and his spouse because I had too many problems in life and couldn't even pay for it anymore (was purchased under their name, not mine)... I hate my life.
Today I learned that the looks are objective and aluminum isn't metal. But seriously, as usual with your reviews I learned a lot more about a car that I already thought I knew a lot about. Thanks for the great content.
Okay! aluminum is a non-ferrous metal but still a metal, just as iron, steel, copper, nickel, silver, gold, and brass are metals. Get yourself a Lexus ES. The Crown is a Clown.
Just got my Crown Plat 2 weeks ago & absolutely love it. I generally try to feather it for economy but when I've needed the power it's there instantly!
Wish you were near York Pennsylvania. You are one of the few honest car technicians. That's why I perform my own maintenance and repairs. It seems like everyone tries to rip you off.
The WORST thing right off the bat is the 21 inch rims. I have a 2013 Venza with 20s and the ride is rough! I can feel every bump, and when I do, it's harsh. My old Highlander with 16s and even my 2002 Tacoma with 16s may have had a "floaty" ride, but they were comfortable to ride on any street.
The Crown is a Clown, better off with a Lexus. When your tires have less side wall, you do notice the difference in comfort and handling. Bigger isn't always better. Newer isn't necessarily better as there was a time when the old stuff was made with quality, and craftsmanship, to last. Today it's a consumable market of buys and throwaways as repairs and DIY is the pastime. Everywhere is a landfill or place of hazardous waste/materials. The ocean is the largest dumping ground, it killing whales and more. I have a Camry, did not like the Avalon and why would I like the Crown. Enjoy life, and get a vehicle that suits you well that won't break the bank. If you happen to buy a new vehicle and plan on keeping it for 5 to 6 plus years then get the 10-year VSA - warranty. You can call any dealership in the USA to get a Warranty Quote. Most times your place of purchase dealer/financial manager will quote you a price of more than $2,000 for a 10-year/125,000-mile $0 deductible warranty. Do not pay more than $2k for 10 yr/125K miles, so I recommend calling and shopping around for the best price. If you Do Not Intend to keep the vehicle beyond 5 or 6 years ...Do Not Buy A Warranty as the Manufacturer's Warranty for the most part will cover it. Manufacturer Warranties are most times better than any 3rd Party Warranty. Now if you live a few hundred miles away from the nearest authorized (for example Toyota) then maybe consider a 3rd Party Warranty.
Any wheels over 19" will provide a rough ride. 18" is the sweet spot for smooth riding tires and I don't mean cheap tires. Stick with Michelin Defender 2 or Continental Cross Contact LX Sport SSR.
@@journeyman291 That's not what the experts say, just saying. I like 19 and 18 inch wheels, I do not have a large SUV, so I don't need 30 inch rims. LOL 🤔
Hi AMD, thank you for the wide-open honest review of the Crown and differences between the models drivetrain. I was so struck by the 0W-8 oil cost that I had to see how much the oil cost cut into savings in fuel. At nationwide average $3.87/gallon, the XLE or Limited would use 39.3 gallons less between 5000 mile oil changes or $152 less in fuel. The oil (0W-8) costing about $15/quart more (assuming 5 qts/change) is about $75 more expensive than very good Mobil1 0W-20 EP (that I use in wife’s minivan). So half of the fuel savings in XLE or Limited is lost to the oil cost! Thank you again for the excellent reviews!!
How about difference in insurance cost for hybrids? Annual registration fees? In Washington State Hybrid owners are hit with an extra $75 per year on tabs, EVs are not penalized despite the extra weight.
Well I drive a Toyota Sienna hybrid van commercially several hours a day. It’s amazing. These things idle for hours and then hours on the road at 75 mph with up to 5 guys in it. Thing gets 32.5 mpg average. Has plenty of power and AWD. I have seen some in the fleet with 227k miles on them and they drive like the new ones. They never break down. They go and go and mileage is amazing. I never liked hybrids but now I am very impressed. If these Crowns are anything like the Sienna vans I would like to have one. I bought a new Subaru Forester Wilderness and love it but the mileage is not good. Get like 18 to 20 mpg in the few miles I have been driving it. The big Toyota van gets double the gas mileage and that’s with a lot of idling and loaded up with all the passengers. It’s just amazing technology and the reliability is amazing as well.
My uncle, who lived in Japan and was the president of a shipping company in Chiba, used to have a Crown as his company car. I remember riding in it back in the 60's and early 70's when I visited him and it was a really comfortable, luxury car. Perhaps, as you say, if Toyota is planning to introduce an entire line of cars under the "Crown" label, they plan on doing it to replace their Scion line that was discontinued? Only time will tell. Great, informative and detailed review.
Not sure why you have multiple negatives about this car one it’s a Toyota it’s quality and reliability. Update, that everyone feels the same way about this car that you seem to be telling people not to buy. It’s a beautiful car that is attractive to multiple age ranges.
I just got this as upgrade from my 2008 Avalon 400k miles totally reliablecar. Waited for you to review this. And i hope to be as reliable as my old car.
AMD you are going to be a multi millionaire because you will be one of the few men who can work on these new Toyotas. I am very happy for you because you deserve only good things👍 ps…you will need a bigger shop👍😊
That is great insight about the 0w-8 oil because nobody else tells you about that. As someone who has a hybrid with the 0w-16 looking to switch to a Grand Highlander or Highlander in a few years, that is good to know. If the oil changes still call for 5k under special conditions, doing the extra oil changes will really add up.
@@riceburner4747 funny thing is I just had my oil changed at a dealer and the line item said 0w-20. Wondering if it was a mistake, I looked at my last invoice from a different Toyota dealer. It too said 0w-20. Either they don’t charge differently (and don’t have a line item for 0w-16) or the dealers aren’t even following the manufacturer’s standards.
Thankfully, as pointed out, the Hybrid Max/Platinum variant uses "standard" 0W-20. BTW, we have a 2021 Highlander hybrid, and it uses 0W-16. Have the new models went to 0W-8?
@@MASTERNC I think I remember AMD saying they get theirs oil out of drums at dealerships where he uses bottles like us. On my Prius manual, it says I can use 0w-20 but have to go back to 0w-16 next change. AMD mostly says use whats recommended or I'd use 20 in the spring/summer & 16 in the fall/winter.
I LIKE the two toned AMD. Over in Europe the CH-R, YARIS, & AYGO all have that two tone combo. I ALSO love the 21" wheels. Saying this, I wouldnt want price of tires, car, & cost of repairs, I'm sure. 👍🇺🇸
The direct injectors being on top of the valve cover do indeed create a hassle when it comes to removing the valve cover. I had to repair a leak from the valve cover on the B48 engine from BMW, and it required a lot of extra work, involving the injector seals and fuel rails, etc.
the average car could easily hit 200k miles before needing new injectors. I keep hearing bmw needing injectors fairly early in life (especially specific 2000s models). I would imagine toyota designed this knowing their quality will keep them from failing etc.
Ya? Just wait till you get the bill for the unnecessary Germanic idea that someone living in the Far East rice bowl called Japan came up with and authorized that brilliant idea. I can hear the cash register now/ or is that a debit machine? More unnecessary complication of parts and systems. Keep it simple stupid! That is why people buy Toyota vehicles. But not for much longer. Besides with up to two years wait for most Toyota products, who cares what they do? I know 5 friends who dumped their order and bought something else. Mazda or Subaru for instance. Honda is doing the same thing it seems. Going down the 'wrong road'. It isn't by accident. This is a 'plan'. it is the future. They have picked up a bad case of the German Measles in all their vehicles.
@@ItalianMetalHED Oh for sure, I do not deny Toyota's engineering prowess. My problem with BMW's B48 that I worked on was unrelated to the fuel injectors, but it was necessary to remove them in order to remove the valve cover, therefore adding more work.
@@vinhngo1894 my experience with my VR6 showed how over engineered these German cars are and electronically inferior as they age but otherwise make amazing motors!!
AMD sure appreciate your videos. Especially, the longer ones where you take time to go over what needs to be discussed regardless of the length of the discussion. We all know that every video can not be 15-20 minutes long or would want them limited to a certain amount of time. Some my take an hour, so what. Keep up the good work... your viewers know that you put in lots of extra work and money in making these videos. It it keeps them coming back alone with new viewers. THANKS.
At 65, I would buy a hybrid car but not a totally electric one. I have a fear of running out of charge on the interstate and getting robbed while sitting on the side of the road. This car is gorgeous and I would consider buying one. I would trade it after 3 years for another one to keep "up".
Thank you for the honest review. As a long time Toyota owner, (2010 Corolla; 2012 FJ Cruiser, both of which we still drive today) we were considering the Crown. However, as you accurately point out, a Lexus ES 350 retails for nearly the same price. At this point we prefer the Lexus..... if it is available.
your absolutely right this doesn't feel like a crown I am a really big fan of the previous crowns they were majestic, unique, royal and showed status and presence on the road... I feel Toyota went overboard with this crown which wasn't necessary to my opinion. They should have kept it old school with a touch of class and elegance for the grandpa fans.
Absolutely beautiful car. When my 01 Avalon dies I would like to get this car. My only dislike is I wish the grill wasn’t closed plastic and was actually functional.
Not every grill / vent has to be open The air that would pass through there is redirected elsewhere for good reason. Perhaps more downforce or better aero
I used to own an Avalon, now I own a ES 350, like it very much. I’m not impressed with this Crown. Thank you very much for your time. I look forward to hearing from you about the 2024 GX
The hybrid drone is NOT due to the CVT. It is due to the Atkison Cycle enigine (long stroke). The Checy Vega had the same problem for the same reason, but the droney part wasn't constant, as the engine had an ordinary transmisssion. The reason peeps find it annoying in most hybrids is that when accelerating, the engine is held at the most efficient RPM for both acceleration and fuel economy. Alas, it is also the most droney RPM. It is held at that RPM as the CVT (silently) adjusts the "gear" ratio as the car goes faster. I have had 3 such cars. A 2007, and 2016 Prius and a 2017 Prius Prime. The drone doesn't bother me that much, as I know why it is happening and what it is doing. Saving me money at the pump. I just don't like to hear it blamed on the eCVT. Too many also equate it with the DAF CVT (rubber belts in a tiny car with a tiny engine) and later Subaru, and still later MANY others. Totally different animal! And MUCH better. I am sorry to see so many going back to (as the one reviewed does) to what Honda called the Integrated Motor Assist. Peeps like the feel of the MUCH less efficient shifts because they don't know any better. CVTs with artificial shift points (to make the unwashed happy) really make my blood boil!
I love that Toyota built something that isn’t typical. Every car on the road looks the same and are all are of the same SUV styling. We love the design, drive and efficiency. I have the limited in white and it looks better everyday.
21 inch wheels. Man, I hate the trend toward bigger and bigger wheels. Worse ride, more flats, and higher replacement costs. To paraphrase AMD, ‘that’s not okay’
Why do we have to label or categorize the car? Why not just celebrate the uniqueness, and enjoy it? To me, this car sounds like a value proposition. I am seriously considering it. Love your content.
Grandpa here that thought this was going to be a hybrid raised sedan that would be at home in Alaska, Yukon, and BC. I was ready to write the check. And then I saw the ground clearance. No way. Bought a Venza and I am content(with 45.8 mpg).
@@jdslyman I'm not certain. I keep it in the "Econo" Mode and most of my driving is in rural and suburban areas where the fastest I drive is 45-55 mph. It just doesn't need to go to the gas station very often.
I bought a limited one last week. I absolutely love my car. One of the nicest cars I have ever driven. My previous cars were sequoia, bmw 330x 2, Lexus GX, Acura MDX, Cadillac escalate, mustang, Honda odyssey. I love love this car. Ride is smooth, powerful, super quiet, fuel efficient, and it looks gorgeous!!! The technology it’s awesome!
That's exactly the kind of car I want to buy in a year. My LS 460 Sport Edition is getting to be too much to justify on such an old vehicle. The entire brake system is a nightmare. All the rubber is a nightmare - how many control arms is too much? (I didn't do a single thing on the 430 suspension in 165K miles.) I was thinking last gen Avalon but honestly don't see how that's better than a lower mileage mid 2010s ES.
i got one and im averaging 53.8mpg. ended up not going with the turbo. Not worried about the oil cost. My camaro at the dealership was $180 for an oil change.
I test drove a Crown. Nice enough but I still prefer my 95 LS400 or 01 LS430. I came in expecting to be wowed and it just felt a little cheap. I also test drove the new Accord Hybrid - now that felt nice.
I agree. Brought my car in for an oil change and went for a peek in the Toyota showroom. Sat in this new car and it did feel cheap, even compared to the Camry. Camry felt better situated inside and did not give the impression of cheapness.
Not all grandpa’s have Camry’s and watch reruns of Day of our lives… the others drive fun, sensible cars and play golf ⛳️. Even grandma loves a lil’ bit of sprite in her weekly commute😂
I imported a 1997 Toyota crown from Japan earlier this year and after watching this, I can say that I'd rather drive that than the new one. Under the hood is a inline 6 (2JZ GE) and a simple 4 speed auto. Everything is simple. The interior and even the door panels are wool and super comfortable. And best of all is the styling. I'd recommend anyone reading this comment to go to Google images and look up 1997 Toyota crown. In my opinion it's such a great looking car and has badging for the crown emblem in the grill and C pillars. I don't know why Toyota decided to ditch the crown emblem when it's such an iconic symbol for this lineup. The crown is supposed to be even higher than the LS so it's disappointing to see the new one come out like this.
I finally saw one of these in real-life. At a restaurant. I asked the owner what is it. When he said it was a crown, I was a little bit surprised and thought to myself, NO! So your evaluation appears to be right on the mark. I must admit the one that this person had was white, so it did look a lot better than the one you have right there.
Does the manual say 0W-16 can be used permanently, or a temporary replacement? In favor of the 0W-16, our Highlander hybrid uses precisely the same engine and does call for 0W-16. So, is Toyota pushing the envelope to achieve slightly better fuel economy? In a hot climate 0W-8 would scare me.
@@jamesemanner9671 As with any vehicle, they would prefer you use what they recommend. I have heard Toyota dealers putting 0W-16 in these newer cars that are calling for 0W-8 because is simply can't be sourced in high volumes. In all actuality, it's not a huge difference in viscosity and some prefer to use a heavier weight oil. The climate where you live could also play a factor. I can see how people would be scared away from using what's a different oil than what's listed on the car.
The powertrain is incredibly complicated. i would imagaine down the road when repairs are needed, they will be very expensive and in some cases hard to diagnose.
My mom got one last year and immediately wrecked it and said it surged or something (was why she wrecked). It looks more suited to me and she may have bought for the heated steering wheel, ride height(she's short), and gas mileage. She was shocked to learn the gas tank is 10 gallons. I learned a lot from your video and look forward to a test drive with 340hp. The ride height, AWD, and heated steering wheel make it more suitable to northern climates.
Very thorough and well done review. My father had a Crown back in Japan and he loved it. I grew up with the legend of the Toyota Crown. Before he passed, Dad got a Lexus ES350 as it was the closest car to the Crown he could get. He still wanted the name "Crown" on his final car as the name ES 350 didn't speak to him. I have been looking at one of these as a homage to Dad. However, after seeing your review, I have surmised that the first reissue of the Crown in the US is a transitional car for Toyota. I may just wait until Toyota works out the kinks (mechanical and styling wise). Maybe I'll wait for the next update to the Crown.
That hybrid max configuration sounds like what Mazda did in their new CX90 with the "torque converter-less wet clutch". I wonder if they collaborated on the design.
simple answer: no. I'm 6'2" and I cannot comfortable fit in the rear seat of the new Toyota Crown. (when the driver's seat is adjusted to my driving position)
For such a big car that's very disappointing. Nobody needs swoopy rears. The traditional sedan shape allows for great headroom in the back. This Crown is not a traditional sedan, it's a grotesque chimera.
I think that PSA company is taking over Toyota... As a mechanic in Malta 🇲🇹 Europe I saw a lot of changes in Toyota quality... I hope that one day Toyota will stand up and see the quality problems that are arising in their cars ...
The auto manufacturers have purposely slowed down production to create an artificial shortage, thus inflating prices by up to 40%. I would never pay 50 grand for a Toyota anyhow, especially considering the Crown will never be as reliable as the Avalon was/is.
That's a very handsome vehicle. Toyota quality and reliability, basically, another bulletproof Toyota... and at the current overinflated prices, out of my budget.
I own a Corolla that takes 0W-8, and you're right - no one has any in stock. Luckily it's safe to take other oils. The manual calls out 0W-16 but I think up to 0W-40 is safe iirc.
OW-10 to OW20, if unable to get OW-8. Best to consult a Toyota dealership head mechanic because thicker/heavier grades of oil do not flow well and may severely damage the engine.
@@richscott2483 Where did you get 0W-10 to 0W-20? The manual (from June 2023) states: "If SAE 0W-8 is not available, SAE 0W-16 oil may be used However, it must be replaced with SAE 0W-8 at the next oil change." No mention of 0W-10 to 0W-20 at all. The warranty does mention 0W-20, but the warranty is much older and has not updated, unlike the manual.
That video was suggested to me by RU-vid since I'm looking at the new Crown Signia that will be available this summer. I currently own a 2016 Outback 3.6R Limited and the Signia seems really interesting. So when I saw your video I watched it and it was really interesting! You gave a lot of great details on the mechanical side. I really appreciate that. I'll stay close to what you do and really hope you'll make a review on the Signia too.
You are underestimating "grandpas." The fact that this vehicle doesn't fit a conventional category is not a flaw. People were saying this about "crossover" vehicles (they could not come up with a better name...); now they are everywhere.
Toyota should hire this guy ... very good critique. Not a huge fan of those giant holes underneath. That's just asking for trouble in the long term with water and dirt getting up in there. Overall, a very nice looking car and a nice ride.
The core problem is... why does Toyota name this brand new cross sedan as Crown instead of creating a name for it? In Japan and many Asian countries and cities, Crown is a well known, prestige, heritage and traditional 4-door sedan which has a very high privilege status. This brand new Crown has indeed ruined all traditional and privilege elements.
It’s not the first time Toyota has done this with the Crown nameplate. They rebadged the Highlander XSE as the Crown Kluger. I think Toyota wanted to capitalize on the Crown nameplate by creating a family of Crowns. There is also a Crown Vellfire.
@@emptystreets130 Crown Kluger is only found in China and every single Chinese just treats it as Kluger,. While this new Crown is the successor of the traditional Crown which is totally different from the Kluger.
@@GiantMaster what I’m talking about is Toyota diluting the Crown nameplate by attaching it to other existing models. I know the Crown Kluger is sold only in China.
@@emptystreets130 No! Your quoted Crown Kluger selling in China is not the appropriate case and reference for discussion here. Also, Toyota did not cover any other existing model with Crown nameplate. Toyota seems tactically to use Crown nameplate to diversify its existence through new models as the market share of the traditional 4-door sedan is getting diminished today.
Agree with your assessment. Drivetrain-wise, I’m sure this is a great car. And you’re right about the looks. It’s a little avant-garde for my taste. Think of what Crowns look like in Japan and overseas. Think of the Crown Majestas, the Crown Estates (wagon) and Crown Athletes of the early 2000s to 2010s. Those are stylish cars!
Avant garde? This is Toyota's answer to the Ford Edsel, AMC Pacer and Honda Crosstour. The Crown Sport CUV is on the way to try to rescue the Crown name in North America.
I bought the Crown XLE, currently I am facing two issues. first: a lot of noise coming from driver side door and second: I am using android and most of the time the side bar on the screen getting freeze so I cannot select any of the side bar menu and I have to turn the car off and on OR maybe do Bluetooth disconnect and reconnected again..
Well, I just bought a CPO "23 Crown Platinum last week now this video has me nervous.... I had my last Toyota, a '07 Solara for 13 years, traded it in for this with 252k miles. So far, I love the Crown but I wish I'd have seen this video before purchasing. So far, the car has been fun to drive, there is a bit of a learning curve for me on the technology coming from a '07 Solara. I've been watching a ton of You Tube videos and reading lots of articles. I've seen some complaints of wind noise and transmission shuddering on forums and so far I haven't had any of that, thankfully. Since the car only has 24k miles on it I have the remainder of the manufacturer warranty and the CPO warranty on top of that. I stuck with Toyota because of the excellent experience I had with the Solara and am hopeful that I have a similar, if not better, experience with the Crown. I was torn between this and a Venza and the style of this car reminded me of my Solara and the features and ride were so nice, not to mention I'd have a hybrid and not miss the V6 power of the Solara, so the Crown it was. Wish me luck y'all.
My daily driver is a 2022 Rav4 Prime and I was looking to add a second vehicle to my family. I live in Texas, the land of trucks, large trucks, and super large trucks and SUV’s. Even with my Prime, when people tailgate you with large trucks, it gets annoying in such a smaller vehicle like a Rav4 Prime. For that reason, I don’t think I could ever buy a smaller vehicle like a car again as a daily driver for safety reasons and reducing being annoyed by larger vehicles up my ass.
@@ronr5991I think for the most part, the majority of large vehicle owners are responsible and do not dangerously tailgate you, but if 25-35% of large vehicle owners do, that’s a problem. If I’m not mistaken, I just read that Texas ranks as the worst state when it comes to responsible & courteous drivers. 😮
At an MSRP of $52,350 for the Crown Platinum, why not just get a Lexus ES350 Ultra Luxury Edition for $52,080? Since the top-of-the-line Lexus costs essentially the same (actually a bit less), I don't understand why anyone would ever consider buying the Crown Platinum. The Lexus U.L.E. has a lot standard that you can't even get as an option for the Crown (e.g., power trunk, HUD, moonroof). And when you compare the base-level Crown XLE with the Avalon XLE that it is supposedly replacing, the Avalon wins hands-down, on many levels, from the engine to the many small idiosyncrasies of the Crown. They say the Avalon was a car for "old people." I'm 66, so I guess I qualify. At any rate, I'm glad I bought my Avalon last year before it was discontinued.
As a child my next door neighbor owned two AMC Eagles....this reminds me of that car design. I am just thankful this should not have the fire issue those cars had at the time. If they would bring down the price, this could be a hidden gem. I agree, the two tone does not look very good. The car looks like it is wearing a diaper imho.
I really like this car and would be perfect for me and my wife. I was looking to trade our low mileage '18 RAV4 XLE Hybrid but this car in my opinion is way overpriced as are most cars today. I live in GA and with even a base model when you add the "garbage" fees and useless options the dealer adds plus the 7% sales tax and doc fees the dealers want, even the base model is FIFTY SIX thousand dollars out the door. NO THANK YOU!!
