I'm from Abu Dhabi, UAE. I have Chrysler 2001 PP cruser, it's accetlaer suddenly out of working when I was driving and came down to the floor and not getting power to run. I put it on side of the road. Till that engine was started when I put switch off and try to start again it didn't. I checked 2 different macanics but they couldn't manage it to start. They are saying fuse are okay, petrol is there, but current it not coming to the plug which is connected to the engine. If anyone knows what and how should I fix it please contact me. princegee2013@gmail.com 00971554193976 call and WhatsApp

I bought my PT Cruiser Limited Edition new in 2004. Still going strong with 230,400 km in 2019. I love that thing!! Sooo comfy, so roomy. It’s been extremely reliable, too. Even set up a bed in it and drove cross country & back one year. Plan to keep it til it falls apart which, given its excellent mechanical history and the fact I maintain it as needed, will hopefully be many years from now. Can’t think of even one new vehicle on the road that I’d swap it for!

About time someone highlighted the positives about the PT Cruiser. 👍👏🙏🏼 I am a proud owner of a special edition - had it since 2013. Have hardly had any issues with mine. Faced the overheating problem after five years, but got it sorted. All my friends and family love it! I'm a firm believer of looking after anything I have, so my PT's been well looked after. Hope it becomes a classic one day. Thanks for making the video. ✨😀

Thank you for your positive review of the PT a cruiser, I just bought my second one, the new cars now are not made as well as this vehicle, so I bought my second one, was lucky to find a 2005 GT model with the STR4 engine with only 54,000 original miles on it and full leather interior! The previous owner took loving care of it and it even has a tow bar and moonroof and is chromed out beautifully on the exterior, it also has a spoiler in rear. I plan on keeping mine up and keeping it, where I live, they are everywhere and they are very popular due to the comfort and unique look! As you said, who wants to look like everyone or everything else?

I got a 2004 basic 2.4L, bought it cheap with 200,000 km on it and did some engine work, had it for 10 years now and it’s at 300,000 km. Not the most mechanically reliable but still pretty decent. It has many, many strong points. The styling is different and cool, the body is built on a truck frame so works really good for the winter roads up here in the Canadian north. I have used this car as basically a minivan to haul lumber (8 ft 2 by 4’s and got the hatch closed), garbage, a love seat, you name it, it’s awesome. Yes the rear seats and the front passenger seat fold down but you also can very easily take out the rear seats, hence I fit a loveseat in there and I got the hatch closed! The power is very good for low end torque and highway passing too, gas mileage is decent and would be far better than a minivan or truck.

I drove a rental PT on a road trip holiday from Vegas to the Grand Canyon, down to Phoenix and the over to San Diego and then LA. Best holiday ever and it was a great car for that. Could see everything being sat high up (something I wouldn’t have been able to do in a mustang) and I wasn’t in a rush.

I own 3 PTs, a 140 hp 2008 Touring from which I operate my business with no back seat, a 180 hp 2005 Limited Turbo which I store in my garage (this guy is right), and a 220hp 2004 Dream Series 4 GT Turbo (only 2000 were made) which I drive for pleasure. All have reworked suspensions (struts, shocks, control arms etc.) and drive excellently. I have no plans to drive anything else for the remainder of my life. I love the retro 40's vibe and the nerd factor, which I gladly embrace. Yes, I admit to having a severe case of PTSD (PT Surplus Disorder). The only medication for such a condition is yet even more PT Cruisers.

Owner of a 2001 Classic PT Cruiser - 266Km on the clock, she's still strong, fast and still turning heads at 18. While they all have various issues (I have a secondary radiator fan installed due to overheating issues), it almost becomes a part of the charm of having one - I certainly gained a lot of in depth knowledge about what could be wrong with my car when she died on me (cylinder system/thrust bearing) the first time so the second (fuel pump) certainly didn't bother me overly. I'm not giving mine up and fully intend on putting her into car shows when she's all painted up and shiny. Collectors are already buying up these cars and putting them away and the second hand price is going up so... It pays to get one and care for it.

I'm from the US, I'm 19, and the only thing I've ever owned I loved my first one, which was a 2006. It was great. My new one had the over heating problem you mentioned problem was the radiator fan. I replaced it and haven't had a problem with it since. And I don't know if I just take them a bit sharper then most people, but turns and curvy roads are so much fun in this thing. So, all in all, I LOVE THESE CARS!!😍

Great, great video! An honest review of the PT. I drive a 2008 2.4 automatic myself. And you explained my emotion with the car exceptionally well. YES, I know it's not a common sight. And YES, I know people will laugh. And YES, sometimes I do contemplate my life-choices. But those are exactly the reasons why I drive a PT in late 2019. Because it's ..... different... and fun. For people who don't want to take life too serious.

I live in Southern California and luckily, I took my Cadillac Eldorado from L.A. to Vegas and and back which I manage to survive with ease. Regardless with any autos, auto annual maintenance is key. The PT Cruiser gets tons of heat here in the States, but Its not a bad ride at all.

I have a 2001 PT Cruiser Limited that I bought used in 2001 with 11,000 miles on it. It now has 136,000 miles and it still runs great. No engine or transmission problems. The most major repair that I had was to change the A/C compressor in 2010. I repainted it last year and it looks like new! Regular maintenance and not driving it like a race car is the key. The one you're driving looks very well cared for as well. :-)

When I lived in the US and was in the process of moving home to Australia, I had sold the cars and rented a PT for 2 months. It delivered furniture to charity shops and cartons to various places. I drove it hard, doing about 3000 miles in 2 months. On the final journey to the airport, it swallowed all 7 suitcases and hand baggage. I used to think they were junk but I ended up very impressed with the PT as a daily driver and hauler.

I bought one new in 2001 and loved it. I was a kid in the 1940s and it reminded me of many cars that were still around from the 30s. It also had a gangster appeal and I even put the magnetic bullet holes in that back lid. In those days PT owners would always wave at each other. My wife and I recently got the urge to get another so we found a 2005 with 73,000 miles on it. I am 6'4" and it is one of the easiest small cars to get in and out of; easier than our Chrysler Town and Country. As this video says it has a lot of legroom and headroom. It's solid and fun to drive. Not a long-distance car but great for around town and short trips. Cramped engine compartment makes some repair jobs like timing belt replacement difficult. Other than that we love this car and it's always fun to tool around in. There are a lot of PT owner clubs around, even in Japan. Look them up on RU-vid.

I've had mine for 15 years and its been great. The 2.4 Turbo engine makes for quite a difference compared to the NA, and the practicality is superb for a small fwd car. Better design space wise than most suvs in fact (be it for cargo and or people), and finding parts (at least in north america) is insanely easy. This is true for both straight replacement items as well as performance upgrades. For the prices they go for, its hard to beat a well kept first or second gen, and there was even a convertible for a few years that had its own unique appeal.

I really enjoyed your review, which was informative and conveyed a feelgood factor for the PT Cruiser. Might just buy one to follow the wonderful diesel Voyager I had. You mention American cars almost apologetically ,but it is important to realise that the American cruising car has a different history and application , even today, from the European performance cars, which it seems have derived more from motor sport than ideals of comfort. This explains why my wife's BMW Convertible is a hard ride, while my Voyager took three couples to the races in such comfort we might have been on a train. I know which I prefer! But of course I am pleased that people think American cars are somehow inept, it keeps their price down for smart guys like me.

I bought a PT several years ago - I loved the retro styling, it was even quite peppy on the motorway and the seating setup meant you could fold them up and store more in the rear than a small van. But the dashboard was always lit up like a Christmas tree and it handled like it was running 4 half inflated tyres on an ice covered road with 45* sideways incline during a tornado (while in reality it was just a flat, straight road in the middle of summer). I was honestly glad to see the back of it.

I used to rent them regularly on my business travel for the first few years they were available, I thought they were fine. For the first year or so, people would come over and want to see it and say how cool it was. People really liked the retro style. But somehow the automotive writers hated them and made fun of them. I never thought they were that bad. Just another small car. But they get fairly good mileage and have plenty of room. Now they are so cheap, they could make a great first car for a kid. We have had many over the years. Bought our first new one in 2002, another in 2004. Then had several as second cars. 3 convertibles to date too. Great family car, loved the styling. Also had a Chrysler Prowler replica, made by Fiero. Only 7 made, this was as close to the original in styling as it got. A wonderful time on our lives.

I bought my 2001 PT Cruiser limited new and still own it. It's been the most reliable, inexpensive, and completely functional vehicle. Starts up without any issues and is dependable. Frigid winters and torrid summers have not been a problem. I have no complaints and have historically replaced parts as they wear out. Motor, transmission are all original including belts and hoses. Very reliable transportation. I hope this continues!

Had one as a company car, yes a company car. Our American CEO at the time did the deal. Had a 2.2crd 2003. Awful gearbox, notchy and vague but always went in gear. Ended up doing 136,000miles in 3 years. Nothing went wrong in the whole time I had it. Also it was comfy on the motorway, nice seat fitted armrest and comfy driving position. The ride was all very good and it handled pretty well. The best bit was the 2.2 Merc diesel, superb. It also went like stink. So when we were told we were getting these I was rather sceptical. The more time I had the car the more I liked it. It was certainly the most surprising company car I ever had and more reliable than the following two VW Passat we changed to.

I got a new Pt cruiser in 2008. I still own that car and drive it daily. It's only had regular maintenance and going on 200,000 miles. I went and bought a brand new Cruze with 0 miles and it stayed in the service department. Needless to say I traded it in on a Corvette and decided my daily driver was just fine. Only creepy people like me can see the cool factor in them, because they definitely rock that antique hearse vibe. You can argue all you want about it being ugly, but Chrysler knocked the antique retro look out the park. Overall mine is an excellent car and we have owned nearly 300 different types of vehicles. lol

I am a gigantic car guy and drives my Italian exotic regularly. I appreciate the PT cruiser for what it is. They were affordable, useful and relatively reliable. And they took a daring chance. People say that cars all look the same today and are boring. You can’t have it both ways. If companies take a risk like this, appreciate the risk. These things will have their day in 10 years. Guaranteed. Maybe not collector cars but people will start to appreciate them again. Much like the Volvo 240.

I have owned a Toyota Corolla before(boring) I currently own a 2006 PT Cruiser. Everything he said is true. I get what he was saying about the overheating adventure. Two days ago on the way to the movies my PT started to putter. We all were laughing about it seeing if we were going to make it back to the house in time to switch cars.(we did) The next day I hooked up my diagnostic tool and it was all being caused by a faulty camshaft sensor ($40) I ordered the part and it took all of 10 min to swap it out. Good as new! If you take care of any car it will last. Great review!

Alexander, same here with owning the Corolla. I actually owned 2. I saw the PT, found a rental, drove it, loved it and out I went to get my own. That was 2004. Turbo 2.8 liter, electric blue, moon roof and I still have it and love it. It's about 9,000 miles from hitting 100,000.

I lived and worked in the US in the early part of this century and got to drive many different American cars including an early PT. My American colleagues thought it was awful but like you, I found it great fun, the truth is that few American cars are "agile" in the sense that we expect in Europe but they are well suited to their "home" conditions where "bendy roads" are rare :)

Great video. Looking at a 2003 GT with all maintenance records for $2500 US 115,000 miles. New water pump and timing belt. That motor is very similar to the 4G63 block that was boosted in the Eagle Talons, Mitsubishi Eclipses, and the Plymouth Laser. No problems with the head gasket. Also looking at a 2002 PT Limited 2.4 with 62,000 original miles for $2300.

I loved the styling when they came out - many years ago my requirement for a roof to come off meant that I had the most peculiar version!! No balance in the looks, cheap interior. Lovely metallic berry red. Looked peculiar, couldn’t see out the back - loved it!! And I still love the styling. Take out the rear seats as per U.S. and great very cheap dog car!!

Well done! I had a 2002 PT Cruiser with a manual in Prowler purple. That was my daily driver for almost 20 years. I had no problems what so ever with the engine and the manual really made the most of the engine. I also used an additive called Prolong in my engine with each oil change. Mine had a 2.0 liter 150 HP engine and with a Tornado Air unit I installed I got 30 MPG. I really loved that thing and it had amazing cargo room. Pull out the 2 back seats and you basically have a covered truck. I moved out of my old apartment with it and never needed to rent a moving truck. After thinking about it, I did have it for a long time so I can't be too critical about the maintenance issues I had. I had plans to do a complete resto mod to it but right now, with a family, it was not practical and I ended up donating it to charity and buying a Toyota for its reliability. I did not get any Toyota but a C-HR which in many ways I feel is a modern car that carries over the unique crossover vibe and character the PT Cruiser had. Things to look out for and be ready to repair in an older manual PT Cruiser after very long use are, (1) the motor mounts, (2) the car's main computer (3) the radiator and (4) the transmission, specifically the clutch assembly because it comes in one big unit and can't be taken apart. Oh yeah, my factory radio went out after about 5-6 years. Also make sure you go so someone who actually knows the car if you take it to someone to work on it. I do wish I had the money and space to store it and give my old PT Cruiser a new life. As time goes on I know the PT Cruiser along with my old Honda CRX are going to be 2 cars I will continue to miss. Strangely my Toyota C-HR is literally like a cross between my old CRX and PT Cruiser. Go figure.

Good review. My PT Cruiser turbo is close to 200,000 miles it's a 2003. I like it better than my Jeep because it's low to the ground. IF you're picking up something heavy, it's easier to pull it up into the car. The Cruiser holds so much inside- car -lumber, garden supplies, etcetera. I can even carry 8 foot salvaged doors. I keep up the maintenance because it's worth it. You have a good clear view from all sides. The only thing I don't like is that it makes wide turns. The air conditioner is great and mine is really fast because it's Turbo. It's very comfortable also. P.S. I'm an American in San Antonio, Texas.

Dude, you cracked me up! Your humor is TOPS! I am also a PT Cruiser fan (and owner). I own a 2008 Limited, turbo. Mine is fun to drive, and I also dig the thumbs up I get from my friends. It's super roomy, so everybody seems to want to pile into my car whenever we go somewhere. I have had no significant problems with my car (although I needed a new battery cable and they don't make them anymore. So I had to wait for it to be shipped from Texas to 3 states over where I live in Georgia.), and my family considers it reliable enough to take us on any vacation. Again, thanks for the good review, and keep making videos. It's a little weird seeing you drive on the "wrong side" of the car, but it's entertaining.

I have a 54 plate 2 litre petrol PT and have had it now about 14 years and it has had it's issues..It has started costing me money now, especially over the last 2 years or so but I love to drive it for what it is as I am into the Rock 'n' Roll,Rockabilly scene and music so its 40's 50's retro look appeals to me..You are right though there are not that many around now, certainly not around where I live so I can only assume many have ended up being scrapped..Mine has only covered around 73,000 miles, had the cam belt replced and is regurlarly having the front bushes, track rods etc done and the MOT is due in the next few days but as I say bearing in mind what I have spent on it I am hoping it won't need anything if anything doing to get it through...They are so so cheap to buy now so if you fancy one, treat yourself,if you can find a decent one...There has never been a better time to buy one !!

My only problem with the turbo version, acually 2 problems 1. Gas milage was bad in teh turbo, id get like 9 miles a gallon when I had fun accelerating in it, and it was top heavy so that u had to have good tires on it at all times or else if it rained and u had bad tires it would slide all over the road. I'm in the rust belt and ran 12 years and 200 thousand miles in mine before passing it on to my aunt and getting myself a 2020 Camry. I went to hell and back many times with my 2007 PT Cruiser Limited edition. If she could speak, she would tell many a story! I think the Cruiser is more appropriate for Europe. Having lived in Germany for the year, I think the Cruiser does better in the small towns and byways of Europe than it does here. It was the car everyone loved to hate; which is why I loved it. It had character and it was the first truly postmodern car. I also knew someone that knew the engineer that created the model, since I live near Auburn Hills, MI.
