Just found you. Very informative and thank you for sharing. I have a D3100 that I purchased & after a week I put it away. Years later I decided to learn learn about the features and how to use it and came across your RU-vid. Will be following to learn more. Glad to know the camera is still considered decent. I'm no photographer but I bought my first and only DSLR back in 2010. I still have and use it regularly. It's my Nikon d3100 with a Nikon 35mm f1.8 fitted. I bought this lens on recommendation from RU-vidrs lol about 6 months after buying the camera. I like landscape and shooting old buildings like old water mills etc. Often think of upgrading to a Fuji xt2-3 as I like the film simulations Fuji have programmed into the cameras. Still no good at photography lol but I'm happy with the results..👍👍 5:58 6:32 7:12
don't put your photography down David - I'm sure you take excellent pictures :-) that 35mm is a lovey lens as far as I recall having shot a borrowed copy a few times. it has that lovely "nifty fifty" vibe. beware that the X-T2 and 3 won't have the full complement of newer film simulations like Reala Ace, even if on the latest firmware. something to think about if that is something you particularly wanted.

always a pleasure hearing from you Moe 🙂 The D5000 - that too was a great little camera. it's funny but when I bought the D3100 I also picked up a D5100, but wasn't sure enough about digital photography to spend the extra shekels!!

I hope you are feeling better soon. What a great video about a great camera line. Nikon Z is boring. I totally agree. Good to revalue the DX system. My favourite DX camera and Nikon camera is the D300s of all the ones I used (D3200, D3300, D7100, D7200, D700, D3, Z5). I use it mostly with the 18-70 mm and sometimes the 35mm 1.8 or the 18-55 VRII. I did have the 17-55 F2.8 but found it too heavy and spoling the DX philosophy. The D300s is my friend!
that's a great camera history. D300/300S is a wonderful camera. Nikon had such a chance being late to the mirrorless party to do something really special with their DX line. instead they just followed down the full frame route instead of innovating. only the Zf line looks really interesting. And I love Nikon to bits!
@@duringthemeanwhilst Totally true. The Zf is one of the few nice made cameras. The downside for me is the grip, the lack of lenses and it being mirroless. Would a Pentax K3 III be better? I would like to know. I have been using nikon since the Ftn in the 70s. Stil have the 50mm f2.

Judging by the very nice images that you've captured this is a very capable camera, but what I want to know is how does it compare to the Trek Butterfly Madone bicycle.
Too many cameras to keep up with! But I’ve never owned a Nikon and would be willing to give one a try. Sorry to hear about the garden trip up Nick! Was it a snake, bee, or the ever invasive mint that caused the mishap? 💜💜😎💜💜
