100%. I was going to buy a brand new OLED model, but instead bought a used Switch Lite in mint condition for $100. Money saved for the next Switch. Extended thumb grips really helped me play games better on the Lite.
I did the same, and it came with a grip. I bought all the new games and the retro games I wanted. I don't need anything more, as a casual video game player. It was a great deal.
I just purchased the Switch Lite but used, got mine for about $117 vs the prices that locals here where I live overprice it from $180-$300. I did want to get the Oled but decided to wait for a new switch model like the switch,as long as I can play Splatoon and Super Smash, then I’m all good. Can’t wait for my used Switch lite to arrive.
I had sold mine because I had moved onto next gen, but the switch lite is very dope. If you’re into single player games and a lot of RPGs get this console!!!!!
"next gen" umm, all current consoles are current gen, next gen would imply a new console has been announced or litterally JUST came out lol Oh also? For selling your switch lite it's off to the gulags with you :p JK but seriously I love my coral switch lite, its super comfy to play
@@thekev2417 change corrected to "replied to" and you're correct, and? Lmao I wasn't aware you aren't allowed to reply to people two weeks later YOU on the other hand I DID correct lol
@@justinem4117 Yes you did correct them by saying “all current consoles are current gen…” when everyone understands the point he was trying to make. Also to correct you it should actually be generation not “gen”. Anyways get a life💀. Only reason I even replied to you is because people like you are annoying and think they know everything. When really nobody cares🤷🏽♂️.
I just sold my oled and bought a second hand lite + botw for 100 bucks. Never regret it im more comfortable using it in outdoors and i plan to save money for the next gen 😁
I'm super happy with my Nintendo Switch Lite. It was the right option for me. You made me check the compatibility with Amiibo, but I just gotta get me a pair of joycons (soon, soon). The things I love the most: the color (Turquoise), the size and weight, the screen (even though the subtitles of some games might be a little difficult to read), the battery (my average playtime is 3 to 4 hours on a charge), the Bluetooth connectivity for earphones. No joystick drift (so far). The compatibility with PD Powerbanks (USB-C to USB-C charging). Oh, of course, the actual D-pad and no creackling from moving parts of the Joycons. The things I don't love the most: it needs a case (and joystick protectors, screen protector and carrying case, too) the audio is terribly low (maybe because the speakers are facing back?), the physical versions need a big download file (so the games occupy both the cartridge and SD card), he placement of the Minus button (at least for me, it's super hard to pres without touching the joystick. The bulky charger is a turnoff (but I love the console doesn't heat up when charging). No vibration 😭 If you love the design or the colors, don't hesitate and get it. I you can afford a regular version, go for that. But If you still love the looks over the extra functionality, get this one as it is amazing 😍
I hope Nintendo makes a new lite keeping it the same size but adding a bigger OLED screen, bigger battery, HD rumble and also be able to use the lite as a controller with other switches
Ive had all consoles up to this point except pc, but I genuinely feel like for anyone looking to get one console, the lite is unbeatable. For $200, not only are u getting a solid device, u are getting a handful of amazing games, customization, and specially fun. U can play fortnite, fall guys, all nintendo exclusives, u just cant beat that tbh
Ive had an oled and a lite. Sold my lite awhile back to get the oled but today I have rebought the lite. The oled screen is RLY nice I cannot deny. But I dont get much use out of it anyway considering how uncomfortable I find it to play on the oled for anything longer than 30 minutes. I much prefer the lite for the comfort of handheld play and will use my oled for docked play 🙂
Agreed, I saw the OLED on display at Target and the display was extremely nice and tempting. But I prefer the size, build, and design overall of the Lite. If it was able to be docked and maybe had an OLED display, the Switch lite would be the perfect handheld, it's still great regardless
@@XP9724I use my switch OLED only in handheld and tabletop mode never docked mode even when I’m home … I use the neogrip from skull & co on it . And I have custom gameboy joycons
Ever since i bought my switch lite, i never went back. I've enjoyed playing it more than the switch or the OLED i had at one time. I never hooked my switch to the TV anyway. It's so much better than any other console I've played.
I own a Switch Lite, bought it with only playing portable in mind, and does the job wonderfully, got some cheap games from the eshop and with the Nintendo Online playing past Nintendo and some Genesis games i really dont need more.
I've been thinking about replacing my Day 1 OG Switch with a Switch Lite recently. I want to play more Handheld, but the normal Switch just feels "off" when holding. Too heavy and too wiggly with the Joycons, I never really felt that comfortable. I even bought a grip, but that just makes it worse xD After watching too many reviews, I think this would be a great investment. My old Switch is still in good condition, so I should be able to sell it for a Lite model :) Also, Grüße aus Deutschland! :D
@SidneyCeleste Update: Bought one today, the turquoise one! It feels so great when holding, much more comfy than the regular Switch. The screen is actually not that much smaller as I expected (coming from a mostly handheld background, it's an upgrade to the 3DS). First game I tried was Witcher 3, which is still baffling me how this runs on the Switch hardware xD
Don’t sell it, but if you do, sell it for a fairly high price, around $200-$250. OG v1 switch made before 2018 are easily hackable and is a good way to dump all your switch games to emulate on pc with a higher resolution/frames
I have no problem with the weight of the OG NSW model, so I wonder if the ones that do have a problem are teens because I often saw similar comments with the OG PS Vita model and to me it feels good while the second PS Vita version feels more cheap because of how light it is lol, but it looks great. So I'm guessing those that feel/complain about the weight of the OG NSW model shouldn't bother with a Steam Deck since it weights more.
Love the Lite.its the best handheld out imo. Perfect form factor and just the right screen size. And while it doesn't have the power of a Steam Deck for example, the games are all optimized for it. So not the highs that a Deck can get you, but the games won't crash or have to wonder If the game is compatible.
I have both, 99% of games work on Deck, then you can also use other launchers, do cloud gaming, remote play, emulation, etc and about 90% of games on Steam I would guess are optimised, on the other hand the Switch Lite is more portable and cheaper, that's about it
I picked up one for like 80 bucks it came with super smash and a silicone cover, visually it looked good no big scratches or anything, no joycon drift I think it was the best deal ever
I just hope that next gen switch will also have lite model, with similar size but larger screen, yeah thinner bezels would make it possible, easilly to 6" or even larger screen. And ofc OLED screen, there cheap but still good OLED screen today in some budget phones.
My Switch Lite History 10-3-2022 Bought a turquoise for $90. 5-3-2023 Sold for $110. 7-6-2023 Bought a coral for $70. 7-8-2023 Sold for $120. 7-8-2023 Bought another turquoise for $100. All three were bought from OfferUp. Third time is definitely a charm. The only reason I sold my first one was the left analog stick no longer could turn right after 7 months. Then I sold the coral (pink) one after only 2 days because I didn't like the color and wanted turquoise back. I net profited $70 on my two previous Lites. So I really only spent $30 on my third Lite. All three looked brand new but this current one I have definitely feels the most new. Has this anti-glare, smudge-resistant screen protector that makes the display look clear all the time. Get Switch Lites on OfferUp if you're living in America. They go for $100 or less a lot. Prices will eventually go up. The 3DS is weaker hardware and goes for $150-$200 minimum. Same with the Vita. But I don't plan to ever sell my current Lite. I can't stand the weight and width of the regular Switch and OLED. And I don't own a TV any way. I haven't gamed on a TV since 2019 with my PS4 slim. Now to prevent having my sticks wearing out fast like my first one, I pair my SN30 Pro and will try to do that at least 90% of the time. If the analog sticks do break, I'll get them replaced with hall effect sensors. The GuliKit ones go for $25 from Amazon. I'll be more cautious this time knowing drift is a widespread problem. But I may get so used to using the SN30 Pro for the Lite, it may not matter any more. Still waiting for my case which can create a kickstand so I can play Switch Lite in tabletop. I was worried with input lag but my SN30 Pro which I bought 2 years ago that looks like the SNES controller (same colors) works like a dream and I get rumble which the Lite can't do. Stupid me. I didn't know how to pair my Bluetooth controller to my Switch Lite until last night! I could've prevented having the first one go out like that. Lesson learned. This now makes me open to the idea of getting a Steam Deck mainly because I'll likely play it with a BT controller most of the time and won't mind the large size. I can do the same for the Switch OLED which offers longer battery life but I just prefer the rounded sides of the Lite. The regular and OLED are slightly more angular. And what if the SN30 Pro battery needs to charge or I lose it? I'd rather use the Lite over the OLED. It's 150g lighter. Paying $100 or less for the Lite instead of double to triple for the OLED is beneficial. I don't get why people diss the Lite so much? It's my absolute favorite form factor of the Switch and it's also the cheapest entry into the Switch library. It's like the iPhone SE and mini of the Switch. I also own a modded PS Vita 2K for over 6 years and I love it. I love it more than my Switch Lite. It's my favorite handheld ever. I'm more of a PlayStation guy than Nintendo guy. Just added the nude patch for Dead Or Alive Xtreme 3: Venus and I'm having a blast! It's a great lesbian dating sim! 😂 I'll be getting a Steam Deck but I'll wait if I can find the 64 GB one for $200 on OfferUp. Maybe $250 will be the max I'll spend on it. My Vita 2K and Switch Lite were bought second-hand and I want to spend as little as possible on anything gaming-related. I'm talking over half the retail price for them. I'll buy most smartphones brand new, but with handhelds, I don't mind used as long as the condition is fantastic. And you can find a lot in pristine condition since most of these OfferUp sellers are in their 30s and 40s and no longer have time to game. Or perhaps their children don't use them any more. They're just video games! Why spend a fortune? Some get hacked and you don't have to spend another cent for a game. My Vita was used and I got it for $100 off Craigslist. Battery health is still over 90% after 6 years. Although I didn't really use it much. I've been using it a lot more this year since modding it last January. The ROG Ally with Z1 Extreme is much more powerful than the Steam Deck but I frankly hate Asus and Windows. I've only had bad experiences with Asus products. Seeing only 30 fps doesn't bother me at all. Switch is already considered weak ass with an SoC from 2015 and I'm still loving the graphics like the AC4: Black Flag port. I'm not into Chinese retro handhelds. I recently bought the Data Frog SF2000 for $20 and the damn thing stopped working after 30 minutes of gameplay. Junk! Did get a refund. My smartphones and modded Vita can cover retro games. I'll stick to reliable and reputable companies like Sony, Nintendo, and Valve.
5:51 maybe im wrong, but i feel a lot of the joycon drift comes from playing games very aggressively, which I understand! But i feel like for ppl who play the more casual mario games or animal crossing, joycon drift wont be as common compared to someone who plays smash every day and puts tens of hours in zelda
Tbh, i did bought a controller for my lite since im anxious to play an aggressive game with just the lite's controller xD but when i do play a cozy/chill game i do use the lite itself.
I like the switch lite but i do wish they had made a version with the screen stretched out like they did with the oled and an improved thumbstick. Though i like how you can customize it, the screen and thumbsticsk, possibly the battery need improved. Maybe a switch lite oled mode? lol
Honestly back then i thought there was probably gonna be a Switch Lite Oled but nintendo missed out on that idea. Especialy because the oled screen would be way more visible while outside
I just purchased this console just to play Mario odyssey. I was thinking of getting the oled one but this was not going to be my main console, it’s already the ps5 so I think I made a good choice in getting the lite! Especially because I can play on the go!
Really torn between this and the OLED. I plan to mostly play in handheld but the better battery life and screen of the OLED has me thinking that + grip. Lite is cheaper but is that £100 ish extra worth it for the better experience and general more functionality if I want it. I doubt I’d dock it much as I have a ps5 and I’ll play that at home, this is more for when out of house but I do like the idea of tabletop mode and playing with a controller, or using two joycons so I friend can play Mario kart or something with. Really don’t know
I had got the regular switch for the fact that it came with two controllers but some time later it gets boring and you really just want something convenient. I tried the switch oled but it’s nothing crazy and it’s huge. The switch lite would give the best experience and best price.
If you have the money I'd say go for the oled. You can just set the dock up and use it as a charging station, by the off-chance that you want a bigger screen you can just dock it and swap input on your tv. I was gonna get the switch lite as well, but my dad convinced me to get the normal switch instead (oled wasn't out yet), and I'm using the docking feature a lot more than I thought. I wasn't planning on using it at all initially.
Had my Switch Lite for 2 years and then the right joycons started responding weird. Loved my Switch lite and I used it for another year despite having the joycon issue but it gradually got even worse. Got the Oled Switch a week ago and i gotta say, it’s a blast!
@@valentinococha413 in my experience the switch lite is definitely more comfortable to hold but the OLED is not that far behind. The better/ bigger screen and better kickstand on the OLED makes the experience way more enjoyable in handheld or tabletop mode compared to the Lite.
for people worried about drifting, switch lite uses the same analog sticks as regular joycons, and they are easily (for trained personel) to change them, I have repaired only a few, because the switch lite has better analogs durability wise, same as newer joycons, they rarely drift unless you treat them bad, if you play gently and not 15 hours a day, they will last easily more than 4 years no drift
thanks for this. I'm thinking of buying a NSW lite for my girlfriend as a christmas present before we start our date. She's not really a gamer but is very interested in playing the games she watches when I play on my own original model.
The only reason why I pay for the Switch Online thing is to move saves back and forth from the lite to the OLED, the OLED only gets play time in handheld mode at home, the Lite is the way to go if you plan in taking the system out of the house.
I used to own a switch lite but its screen got broken all of a sudden. The switch lite is known to be prone to screen issues. I never drop my switch lite, I don't maximize its full brightness but all of a sudden I got a weird line in its screen. I had it repaired and I sold it. I never regretted it .
Did I understand that right? That the Lite will not let you play while it's docking (charging)? I was just thinking of getting one but that could be a deal breaker for him. I would feel rushed trying to complete areas before it died, ect. Also I had one of those portable neck fans and same thing, wouldn't run while charging.. so annoying.
I recently got my royal blue nintendo switch lite last Tuesday and i am glad to say i am really pleased with my purchase i got tmnt cowabunga collection and i might also get gta and mortal kombat on it
I did like the switch lite but the screen tad small for my taste and it eventually felt awkward in her hands which i solved by getting grip for it. But again the screen was tad small for my taste, if screen was stretched out more lie they did with oled i may have considered keeping it.
If you are worried about button sizes I would probably not get the Switch Lite. On a regular Switch model you can replace Joycons with alternatives featuring larger buttons and different layouts even.
@@reviewrattlesnake , i want to consider the option because i don't plan to play the Switch in dock mode, since i have a Series S already. The portability factor does intrests me, if the buttons are similar to the new 3ds then i'd feel okay with them from prior experience. Also the potential wobbly joycons on the regular switch worries me more for on the go play.
i still play mine daily and i own gaming computers and xbox. highly underrated handheld console the fact it runs games like dying light and skyrim blows my mind. currently playing threw BOTW as i have never played it yet. this video still applies in 2024 IMO. but if you want to hold out until switch 2 i wouldn't blame you, but if you can pick one of this up for around 100 bucks or so i would still grab one. still a very awesome console that i use daily
I thought my Switch Lite broke when it wasn’t charging but it was actually the charger that was broken. Thank you Nintendo, that it can use a Type C charger, been 2 years of using it.
I preferred NS lite bcoz it's lowkey in public, as an adult who still played games, NS lite is a treasure for me😂 i do mind what others think coz we lived in a world were ppl judges what you doin at that age😂
I like the concept of a switch lite with a full digital library for travelling, which could fit in my jacket pocket, but the normal switch is still portable enough and better than paying another £200
I had mine since it came out and built a huge library. Now I just bought one for my girlfriend and plan on playing it even if other consoles come after it. It offers local networking so I am be playing it with her regardless.
@@reviewrattlesnake Thank you! I got mine second hand. I guess I need to replace the battery 'cause it only last for more or less than 2hrs of play time.
I already have a PC, and I don't really like spending 300$ for the oled version since I'm only gonna play pokemon, zelda and mario. Should I get the lite or the normal version? I also travel monthly. Pls help me!!
I have been toying with the idea of a switch lite for a while, my wife has an old 3DS and with xmas coming up wanted to get her a switch/switch lite but, im kinda torn between the two. she does use the 3ds just sat on the sofa with the TV on, but i`m not entirely sure if she wouldnt go for something like the switch where she can play on the TV. another angle is I think is multiplayer we would probably play multiplayer how is this on the switch lite?
I don't think you could connect a switch lite to the TV because it doesn't come with the dock. It's only the regular Switch and the OLED version you can connect to the TV
I have 315 dollars saved up and I think I might buy a nintendo switch lite I mean my IPads great but I kinda feel like getting something that like u can play games like really good games I can't play on my iPad
Im getting a switch lite brand new on marketplace for 300$ Jailbroken with 18 games All 3 zelda Few mario games Few pokemon games Plus 2-3 more games Worth it? Or should i just get a normal switch
while I had switch oled then steamdeck, I bought two months ago the lite version becuse I love the size and I didnt enjoyed the feeling of oled version with joycons moving abit, its a strange feeling. Im really enjoying the lite so far games looks better in because of pixel density, I can pick it on the go also. Considering the switch games library its honestly the best on the go solution to play modern games. Just too bad thete is not much more eastern action rpgs in but some games just arrived like Gothic series, maybe other elder scrolls next...
A few questions for anyone who knows: Can we download classic Nintendo games on the Switch Lite? I.e Super Mario Bros, etc.? Is there a Nintendo membership subscription like PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live? Also, does the system have basic console features like an internet browser, online voice chat, etc?
Answer 1: You can download every game on lite that's on switch OLED and normal Answer 2: Yes, there is a subscription but it's upto you if you wanna pay or not. I haven't and play all Pokemon games on it. Answer 3: Yes and No, with some tweaks here and there, you can surf on internet.
@@ArminVanLiberty no online voice chat on the console. There is an app you can access if you have the online nintendo subscription, and then there is a voice chat there that you can use on your phone next to the switch. But personally I haven't seen anybody using it at all, and it is very scuffed.
I buy switch lite in 2k23 and i love my switch its nice poratble console now i can play everywhere and games are so fun to play. Its worth to buy of course in 2k23 and just save money for the new switch 😄
Hey! I'm considering buying one for my girlfriend's birthday and your video helped me a lot. Just wanted to thank you for that. Have a wonderful day too ;)
i currently use a gaming laptop. i dont have a tv or monitor. should i save the money and get a switch lite or get a normal switch. i do wish to have the joycons but the extra 150 dollars as i live in canada feels crazy
Yes why not I ended up finding the gray one on Nintendo’s website it’s worth having to play handheld anytime toy want it’s starting to phase out but it’s good to have
